So because his father is a bad influence and most agree he is, because he has that sob story we should allow him to disrespect the governing body of the sport in this country? It's not his first indiscretion, he's been a sook for years, has a pea heart. The tail can't wag the dog, we cannot send that message that having a sob story absolves you from blame or punishment.

You're right he's entitled to hold that view, he's entitled to defend himself, what he's not entitled to do is to air that view publicly, take it up with them in private. He deserves his suspension, you cannot mouth off at the governing body and expect to be allowed to then represent that body.

Didn't answer the question, are you helping or hindering the situation?

It's setting a standard, you meet that standard or you don't play. He's not our white knight we should not be pandering to him at all. This teaches him a life lesson.

I think Tomic slightly overreacted, but you can't be naive to think they aren't pumping money into the imported products, instead of focussing on home-grown talent instead.

They're not building bridges with their own player, they're just adding fuel to an unnecessary fire.

Doing this will not change anything in the slightest. It's not TA job to force an opinion down someone's throat. Pretty much explains what's wrong with society as too many people are just content with the status quo. To think this will make Bernie and his dad change their ways/attiude in any way is downright naive. Instead we should looking for a solution to the problem.

Yes it is. They are no different to any governing body of any sport worldwide, you adhere to the standards set or you're excluded. The afl sets standards, Cricket Australia do, the nfl will, the FA will, UEFA will. etc etc etc. This isn't a tirade against a TA janitor or receptionist. He lambasted publicly some of the head honchos. That ain't going to fly and rightfully so!

If Luke Hodge or Ablett made an outburst of similar veracity towards Evans or McLachlan, they'd be suspended or heavily fined just the same. Sometimes you need tough love and not to be babied. By allowing this behaviour under the pretence of finding a solution it opens a can of worms and sets a dangerous precedent. I have no problem with TA trying to help find a solution to Tomic's problems, starting with his father but he needs to cop his right whack first.

There must be a minimum standard and and publicly whinging about TA after a loss not only sounds like making excuses and sooking but it's not good PR for the sport, must be met with repercussions.

Regarding Karlovic there's nothing controversial as he only had one swing. Such incidents happen all the time in tennis.
Ahh no you're wrong. That was very controversial. It should have been the set to Tsonga. He was 100% robbed of the opportunity to win the match.

A double hit like that hardly ever happens in tennis on the ATP singles tour.

heavily on team bernie and against TA after this. What a joke putting the interests of this awful organisation ahead of the country. Bernie made it clear despite his issues with TA he would play for the Australian public, pathetic from TA.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Bernie threatened to play for another country in the past? Would seem hypocrytical then to criticise TA's support of players just because they were born in other countries.

I don't doubt that most of what Bernie said comes from John Tomic but John is not the one playing tennis for Australia. If Bernie is going to be a 'mask' for his father then he will have to accept the consequences. It's not an ideal situation but I am not surprised at TA's decision.

No, that was just a media beat-up. Probably something his father said out of spite.

Regardless, he's still an Australia player and has been our most successful tennis player from the past 5 years. He's really matured this past year, stepped up his game and flown up the rankings. That's where he's earned back respect. What does TA do? Treat him like he's irrelevant and then cut him from the team for exposing the lies of their dysfunctional organisation.

Agreed. Bernie has always had issues but has always fronted up for Davis Cup. So stupid for TA to burn the bridge when we are in Davis Cup contention for the first time in 10 years.

Bernie picked the wrong forum and he has form as a bit of a dick, but he clearly exploded for a reason.

There must be some issues at TA and I expect they will be exposed over the coming months.

It's a two way street though. I get the impression TA have actually done a lot for Bernie over the years and they get little thanks and only aggro in return. As with all these things there are faults on both sides I'm sure but Bernie could not have expected to unleash publicly on TA like that and not suffer any consequences.

I stand by my original comments knowing that as long as a player swings in the one motion and there is no attempt at an intentional second hit, then that is a legal shot. Everyone I have ever met and played against in Victorian competition has subscribed to this interpretation.

If its all in the one motion you then its still classed as one shot.

Its quite tragic that some naive people are giving credibility to Tomic's grievances given his and his father's history of incidents.

Despite what many think, TA actually has a pretty good rep across the sport.

Just look at what Robbie Koenig had to say:

Its about 99% likely that Tomic was just being a self-entitled dickhead and creating trouble just cos his father told him too, because he's too stupid to make his own decisions. Biting the hand that has fed him all along. Without TA funding, Tomic wouldn't even be known.

Hopefully Kyrgios follows through with his threat not to play as well, and they f*** him off too.

So we can lose to Kazakhstan?:$

From behind and live it was very hard to tell it was a double hit, it was only the slow mo that made it obvious that it was. Tbh, I doubt even karlovic would of been sure what he'd done it was that quick. Benefit of the doubt has to be given, I don't blame the ump for missing that.

How do you not see the double standard with this post?

Its wishful thinking that Kyrgios will even give a rats about playing this Davis Cup tie with or without Tomic, despite all the money invested in him by TA and the ACT government.

Give him an inch and he'll take a mile - he thinka he's too big for it all now

You're still missing the double standard.
