NOBS
Old Geelong
Ormond
Prahran

Kew
Friars
Old Mentonians
Yarra Valley OB
Bulleen Temp

Nobs have some great recruits according to their website and already have some quality/mature players.
Old Geelong retain a strong core group and have a new/quality coach in 2015.
Only hearing positive things out of Ormond - Mal Michael a huge get.
With their depth, Prahran should squeeze into the 4 again.

Haven't heard much about Kew. Won the premiership in D3 (2013) and D2 (2014) - have got something great going on down there. Andy Brazzle at FF will be dominant again.
Friars seem to have lost some quality players to the EFL (including a b&f winner from a few years back) - they do have youth on their side.
Old Mentonians - wouldn't have a clue
Yarra Valley OB - new coach but I don't think they'll push for it in a strong comp this year.
Bulleen Temp - since winning the seniors and reserve flags in D2 a few years back, haven't done a lot in D1 and seem to be sliding. With an ageing list and the loss of big Greg Williams, I see it as a tough year for the Bullants.

Whitefriars are an interesting case this year. Appear to have lost experienced guns Abdullah and Daou going by the clearances page. Also I expect them to lose the Donvale players as they re-form their club. However their large u/19 player group from 2014 could keep them in good stead.

There is no way Whitefriars will improve. They are losing some of there best players to Donvale and they were hopeless last year. I think they are a lock for relegation.

Neither played more than 3 full senior games in 2014, due to injury, but we would rather have them and Woods than not. Just a reflection of the generational change at Friar Park for this year. We will be able to fill those holes with young exciting players who have huge upside.

They said they weren't able to get a liquor licence for their rooms last year - hope they got in early this year.
Thanks!

Thought there was more to it than that. Got the impression there were some issues with over consumption - and not necessarily within VAFA rules - that caused a re-think. Know one club that wasn't overly impressed with only having a choice of soft drinks after the game. The rooms cleared quickly I'm told.

They we're banned by the council after too many big parties where they didn't look after the place. The council were going to send them packing altogether but they agreed to let them stay if they no longer served alcohol

Oh....they didn't mention that last year.

Not surprising really

Chill out you drunken nutcases OGGS have their license back this year so you can do your Como / Revs double and chuck a javelin through your car in a superman outfit.

Interesting to see that Om's seem to always be low down on ladders each year. Any particular reason for this they have a really young team that ddi well last year, beat old geelong away and only lost 2 at home too nobs and therry by under 4 goals. Seems interesting to predict geelong winning comp but oms finishing bottom 2?

Predicting ladder positions at this time of the year is always difficult with all the 'coming and goings' of players at each club.
Maybe wait until round 6 until we get a trend of where clubs are at.

They played the season out with barely 30 players playing seniors. Were blessed with so few injuries that they didn't have to dip into their reserves (who were frankly quite awful) often at all.

Given a golden run like that, unless they recruit (I hear their u19 program is in jeopardy again), they will have to cross their fingers and toes all year to finish higher than 5th.

Exciting times at the Gunn. Digger & Chis are back, big Mal & his mates are on board, people taking cheap shots at Booker at their own peril. Bring on the real stuff!!!

Are Ormond entering their seniors in the Super Rules comp in 2015?

That would make sense.
