Has anyone seen the D1 scribes report on the website, its a wonder it was allowed by headquarters, like his comments about Yarra Valley the week before.

I've just read. Seems generalised and balanced but happy to hear others' views. Subtle comparison of the two games where top teams v bottom teams in the round was interesting. Didn't read the report of the previous week.

Must say I also thought it as fair and reasonable. Keep in mind these blokes are volunteers who do this for nothing on top of their usual work and study commitments. My understanding is they don’t have people banging the door down at VAFA HQ to do this role.

balanced enough.

Football clubs, at a lower level at least, are tied together by one indisputable fact. Their love for the club. They come from a host of different backgrounds, hold varying world views, hail from different parts of Melbourne and make ends meet in different capacities. The reason I mention this, as many of you will be very aware by now, is in the murky aftermath of the abrupt end to the KewBulleen Templestowe game at Victoria Park. The incident was ugly and investigations are taking place this week to get to the bottom of something that Australian Rules football as a whole has attempted to eradicate. Kew and Bulleen Templestowe are clubs of great character and passion, but Saturday’s events have thrown both into a time warp of an past era. With controversy comes the horde of social commentary on the various applications that have become the bane of any criminal investigation. This is a time to remain circumspect and remember that we play under one competition banner, the Amateurs. Here’s hoping for a clean investigation, and an excellent finals series.

I’ll start with this fiery clash between the two old clubs. Kristian Cherbakof went down early with an injury but the Bullants fought on, laying down a fierce challenge to the 2nd place Bears. However, Bulleen entered the final term down by 5 goals with their future in Division 1 firmly on the line. An impassioned speech from coach Anthony Palmer challenged the squad to respond, however Kew had other ideas, with Droessler’s goal handing them an unassailable lead.

curious as to why they didn't publicise the split in fines

what was the outcome after the elsternwick/ st johns match abandonment?

Perhaps they don't want it on public record who was more at fault for that part of the incident.

Glad to see the money is going towards a worthy cause. Certainly a lot of money for amateur football clubs to pay. I know Kew have had financial difficulties previously and Bulleen is also unlikely to have a large bank balance.

Also pleasing to see this resolved quickly and not drag on unnecessarily.

Are the players allowed to play while the criminal investigation happens or have they been stood down pending the outcome?
Frankly, I can't see any compelling reason why the VAFA can't proceed with their hearing of the alleged offences.

any latest on the Kew lads?
A fine is all well and good, but can the VAFA guarantee that BTs opponents won't be the victims of coward punches?

The player will never play again. And BT, apart from him, have a record of cowards punches no worse than others. Not sure what your point is??
Can the VAFA guarantee that any club will not have a player capable of being reported?

I guess what many would like to see, is any player found guilty of a "coward punch" which causes serious injury banned for life. That would keep them out of the Association in any capacity forever. It would be my preference.

Not sure what his record is like, but 16 or more weeks of suspension results in a life ban anyways
A very different outcome in terms of future involvement with the club. A life ban means the player could not coach, be a runner, hold office etc, as opposed to sitting out a season.

Can someone enlighten me as to why I would have had a post deleted? Not that I care too much, but is calling someone nutcase considered foul play??

Is that possible? To be banned for a season, rather than life ban?
Because 16 weeks suspension means a life ban anyway.
