Result from tribunal still not up on website. Why????

Anyone who thinks a player getting 24 weeks doesn't damage the VAFA brand is kidding themselves, especially when you factor in that the player was a current club captain and former VAFA rep.

At least the length of the ban sends a really strong message about what is acceptable and will go a little way to repairing it.

BT will not help with any type of appeal. From my discussions with insiders it will be...good riddance. He has shamed a great club.
Disgraceful act!!

I am in no way excusing what Florence did but to think the club that his family has a long and proud history with has simply said "good riddance" is just stupid.

The guy has done the wrong thing and will be/has been punished accordingly. It is a dent to his character that im sure he regrets and from an outsider looking in i think the change to his behavior on field in more recent years could be linked to the passing of his father a few years ago. Again not excusing his actions but just something to think about.

I heard that the case was thrown out and there were no legal proceedings.
That's why the VAFA was able to go ahead with the hearing.

Understandable explanation, and agree it is no excuse for what is inexcusable behaviour.

If the police decide not to charge him, so be it. Should consider himself lucky that all he finishes up with is one of the largest ever suspensions in Victorian footy, and the universal condemnation of his actions.

A pretty sour way to end a football career, but it's better than a criminal conviction I guess.

Is there any truth in the story that Florence had coffee thrown over him at half time
Last heard from outside tribunal when the coffee was being discussed:
You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on? You haven't even been to see the doctor. If your gonna put a balm on, let a doctor put a balm on.

And a bit further down the page:

Ormond Player suspended from the GF v Kew. Forceful front-on contact, 2 matches.
Kew player came off in the hands of trainers, looking dazed and unable to support himself.
I witnessed one of the Kew trainers give said player a tablet which looked a lot like paracetomol (which you shouldn't do straight after a head knock).
Sent him back on after about 7mins!
Those trainers have a duty of care to those players. Imagine if he went back on and dropped dead of a brain hemorrhage.
The AFL brought in the 20min concussion rule for the safety of our players - VAFA should implement the same rule.
Frightening stuff! Luckily he was okay...not the point though!

And that might have been the game as Kew kicked 5 goals while he was off, 4 from frees.
Kew kicked 6 goals in the second quarter, and Ormond kicked 6 goals in the third when both teams were kicking with the wind. I'm not sure the game was won during the time the player was sent off at all. In my opinion kew won the game when they kept Ormond to 1 goal while kicking with the wind in the first quarter

Thanks for explaining.

Ormond wasted chances in the first 20 mins, but the fact remains that Kew kicked 5 goals while Ormond had 17 on the ground.

Kew did score lots when Ormond had 17 players. But the point is, it was a strong wind and they would have scored anyway. Like they did in the last and Ormond did in the 4th. Kews first quarter won them the game. Plus being faster and harder at it on the day.

It was unavoidable contact, but that's the rules now. The player hurt came nearly straight back on and kicked 2 of them !

Came back on kicked 1*
Fassoulis also came back on but had a different impact - tried to sell candy in the middle of the ground and was caught holding the ball ☺️

Anyone know if Martinov and Tahana are ok? Tahana is a good young player

Fasoulis was good , don't bag him, anyway we won't see your lot for a while

Your 'accusation' about the consumption of alcohol is 'unfounded' as I understand it. Two posts from you. Both replete with 'unfounded accusations' Sort of what one expect with a username like yours.

If there's something in what you say I'll be more than happy to apologise. If my information suggesting your supporters are the subject of an umpires report for bad behaviour is correct, I trust you'll do the same.

I don't mean to harp on it, but...

As an independent observer...
It is the Ormond boys in Ormond attire drinking the Nelson County Bourbon and Coke cans behind the goals. No biggy. Lads will be lads. But remembering back to earlier denials...its Ormond.

Two from two. How's that apology coming along big fella? Penning it as we speak, no doubt.

You should have a crack at politics. Tricky people often do well there.

It's quite duplicitous to join a comment about behaviour made in relation to one game (a semi final) with behaviour at another game (a grand final) about which I made no comment.

My comment relating to the semi final was based on information from the one Ormond person here (bedford) in a position to know. He hasn't retracted what he wrote at that time, which was the behaviour in question was not from people associated with the club.

Have a crack at producing evidence relating to the matter at hand which actually relates to the game I commented on rather than linking it to one I haven't.

Quite happy to accept an apology from you for being shifty though.;)
