Glad you lilywhites speak from such a standing in the footy community, D1 Ammos that's like D grade the last time I checked, there would not be too many SFL clubs in Third div that would not thrash any of the D grade Ammo teams including Ormond. I hear what goes on at many clubs around the SFL/VAFA in my role as supplier and despite your comments Harford I do know and lets see the changes that you will put on the team sheet this week will we.... could actually be 4... Good bye ( for now)to this D Grade thread..

We just share a passion for local footy so to me it matters not what division a supporter or players club competes in. But by comparing the relative strengths of the VAFA to the SFL you just make yourself look like a goose. I reckon Ormond would comfortably beat a few SFL Div 1 teams and there would not be a club in Div 3 that would get within 10-15 goals of them. The rankings of the various competitions were ratified following the metro carnival in March this year. So just for your benefit I'll remind you that the VAFA is ranked #1 and the SFL ranked #6. Or in other words last.

And btw my club is in ‘A’ grade (for now anyway!).

In the past 12 months the VAFA Rep team has comfortably beaten both the EFL and NFL rep teams, both comps recognised as stronger (by far) than the SFL. BTW Pick up your dummy on the way out the door.

We all know about the Ormond-Kew matchup this weekend, but to be honest I am looking forward to the fixture between Old Geelong and St Mary's Salesian just as much. Is Callum Wood coming back in? I think 'Gazza' is working into early season form but he needs a big scalp. Question marks over Geelong's defence for mine, I think SMS will exploit that. Think they have the tall timber to stay with the OGGS forward line, however you almost have to concede that Wood, Young and McMeel will kick a bunch between them - depending on where Young lines up I suppose.

The only difference is that SFL teams can pay their shit players. Hawthorn (VAFA D3 or 'F Grade') smashed South Yarra in a praccy this year - so I really don't think that there would be many SFL clubs in 3rd Div that would thrash any of the D Grade Ammo teams

You just showed your class again, now piss off to the shit footy league. To all the other normal people on hear whether we agree or disagree at times, im telling the truth. There might be changes how many I don't know as yet, there might be 3 or 4 or none, but for him to say 3 big ones is crap.
It would be fair to say all things going well the next time we play Kew we might have a stronger team with BIG ins, but at the moment the replacements haven't set a foot wrong.

Is selection night still Thursday at the Gunn?

Providing that the notoriously-susceptible-to-rain Como Park doesnt get too waterlogged and holds up until Saturday when the weather is fine, we should see a high scoring spectacle. Old Geelong has the greater scoring power of the two but both sides' main strengths are their respective forward lines. I'm a believer that % is a fantastic barometer of where a team is at, and Old Geelongs % indicates that they are a rung on the ladder higher than SMS, but a rung below Ormond/Kew. SMS's defence is by no means shabby, but history has shown that they are susceptible to the competitions elite forwards who have kicked a few bags. McMeel and particularly Wood should he return after 2 games out will no doubt cause SMS a bunch of headaches. You point out Geelong's defence as a weak link, yet they have only conceded a very respectable 73 points a game on average as opposed to SMS's 95. My heart says otherwise, but my head says SMS will need a HUGE collective team effort to get over the line in this one. Dont write them off, but I reckon Geelong win this one.

OGS in a canter. Momentum is building at Comoland. The bandwagon will be stopping at all stations, but this will ensure it is full rather quickly. Jump on while you still can...meow...

I am concerned the OGS reserves will miss the finals if they continue to focus on their senior team. Surely something can be done about this.
I too am very concerned about the Old Geelong ressies side. I think a thorough review is immenant at Como Park. They would be very concerned that their D1 status could be in jeopardy but taking the senior competition seriously. I'm sure that normal services will be resumed ASAP.

I was thinking the same thing when Mentonians kicked 5 against them last week

Congratulations Richo on your first post of any quality. Even though I'm very surprised, I'm pretty sure that you will return to moronic substance less based posts in due course

There is no way that the bandwagon would be full if it's stopping all stations..
There is no way that the majority of OGGS supporters would get out of their Land Rovers, let alone know where a station was

They would be too busy sipping their Boags shit on the balcony

The majority of Ogger Wagoners are expected to board from South Yarra and Hawksburn. Very familiar surrounds. I believe the train will also weave through some of the snow resorts in July.
As Ricky Nixon might say...toot toot

Class tensions, I see what you did there!

Great post. You make some very convincing points. I think you have to look to SMS v Kew when they were leaking big time. They've done it several times this year, haven't they? I must add, offensively SMS are very, very good. But you're right, OGGS are really coming together and have only lost to Ormond and Kew (who the **** hasn't!?!?). McMeel and Wood are, on their day, on par with Kew's Brazzale and Maibaum combination and Ormond's Chisholm (when fit) and Martinov.

Question: I know the umpires are often drawn into ball magnets (see: Dimma, Iezzi, Harris etc) for the League Medal, but who do we expect to be leading the way after 9?

Sid Jones of SMS. Potentially by a Nat Fyfe margin. Has a history of polling extremely well, has been in the best 7/9 games this season and has the most goals of any midfielder in the league with 19.

Welcome back sauce admirer. I've missed your inciteful take on the game & obvious wealth of football knowledge. I'm sure that Richo won't disappoint with his garbage in the future. Will you be drifting into any games this weekend? Ormond vs Kew perhaps.

Thanks for the kind words Beamsy. I've been busy of late working with my second passion in life, the royal family, namely Kate & Will & the new little whipper snapper. That's a story for another time.. I think this week I'll be attending the blockbuster between Yarra Valley & the bullants. Should be a high quality encounter. It's either that encounter or maybe I'll sty at home & slam my dick in a door repeatedly. Hmmm decisions, decisions.
