Remember folks, Josh is coming back from an injury (a broken hand nonetheless), I reckon we should put more focus on his TAC footy for the rest of the season, as we stand he’s shown good signs for a player who may get drafted in the second round. I like how he makes the game look slow when he gets the ball though, and his kicking style is straight out of a kicking masterclass.

I don’t like to compare him to his old man but he reminds me of another son of a gun Gary Jnr.

If the whispers are true about Nick Daicos is more talented than Josh at the same age. I could only dream about the thought of Daicos' boys playing for Collingwood but it's going to be real. I can't wait for it to happen.

Yes, do you disagree with what I said?
To a degree, yes. Regardless of their names, I wouldn't be adverse to picking up either provided it didn't cost us our second round pick. Neither look like top line prospects, but both have a bit to work with too.

WTF. The Pies don't have a 1st round pick so face a tough choice. WTF. Neither are likely 1st rounders, so we'd not use it on them even if we had one. Our 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder should be sufficient to secure both, if required, based on existing reports of their rankings from those in the know.

Callum Brown is a lock for us.

Collingwood father-son hopeful Joshua Daicos put forward an exciting display. At 178cm, 69kg, there is not much of Daicos, but like his father he displays natural talent. Daicos made the most of his 14 disposals finishing with one goal. He was hitting targets around the ground consistently and demonstrated vision and composure with ball in hand. Daicos' sidestep and movement through traffic was exceptional and another weapon he showed he could at times use. He also produced an encouraging defensive effort, smothering an opposition kick inside 50m.

KM on JD from his latest ESPN piece.

Daicos could be another Cloke father/son scenario- take the eldest to get the youngest!
If all you are saying is that younger Daicos is better that's fine but otherwise the glaring difference is that Cloke's were F/S eligible for Pies & Tigers so taking the older boys helped convince David that Pies was the best choice. Daicos' are only F/S eligible for Pies so if oldest isn't up to scratch he either gets up to scratch or misses out.

Feel like people are going ridiculously early writing Cal Brown off. Very unfashionable footballer but I've watched all his games in the champs and was impressed after not expecting much. He barely makes a mistake, very clean hands and makes good decisions. Neat user that can hit up targets. Hard at the footy. Far from saying he's going to make it but pretty premature to say he won't. Cal Twomey suggested both he and Daicos are "genuine top 30 prospects" which admittedly seems like a stretch, but as far as people in the media with their ear to the crowd in recruiting circles he's probably the best we have.

Daicos, I've seen two things, beautiful foot skills and an elite sidestep. Is that enough to get him rookied? How far is he coming back from having less time in elite systems? That's for the experts to figure out, but with the state of out list surely a naturally talented son of the gun who can use the footy is worth a rookie spot at least. Can't be worse than Golds.

They both have AFL qualities to their games but they both have areas to work on.

I think we will draft both.

Matt Scharenberg's brother Jonty on the bench. Will be interesting to see where he is selected come draft day. If he will have similar knee problems to Matt and whether or not the brothers have plans to reunite in the same team one day.

Catch 22. Glad he's playing well but would have been nice if he'd just slip to us late!

Both Yes and No.

Yes It's good to see him play well and be U-18 but does make his Draft Ranking Go Up

If we miss out on Daicos what will you do?
We either take him or we don't. There is no 'miss out'. Missing out implies a situation whereby the club was flat out unable to secure him, not a situation where they pass on him.

That's all true, unless the Daicos family gets disgruntled and the younger one decides not to nominate as a father/son

Everyone needs to calm down re the Hype. You have two players sub 180cm who have showed to be just OK at State level. Brown gathers disposals but doesn't do much with them and Daicos shows some good signs but doesn't do anywhere near enough defensively. He is a small forward/HFF who has only kicked 4 goals in the TAC cup this year from 3 games.

The modern day MID or HFF is above 185CM and are a lot more versatile than these two. Brown will probably go 3rd round due to being 177cm and Daicos may end up later than that.

There are probably 10 players alone in the VIC Metro squad you would take before these two. Talks of first round is just ridiculous. I've scouted and watched Josh and Callum. Both are good players but are no where near first or second round. They have a lot of areas to work on in there games.

Josh doesn't have enough of a track record to track his progression for a club to bid on him early.

You have to ask do collingwood really need 2 sub 180cm MID/FWD's who are just OK at state level? I think if they're there late then yes. Otherwise probably not.

So zorbadunde you think they are way overhyped for players who are Just AFL Calibar?

If there where not father sons they wouldn't be getting talked about. There are players in that Metro squad which are far more advanced and no body has even spoken there names. Daicos has the talent for AFL but lacks in some key areas. Brown has the work ethic but I don't know about the natural class and talent.

I just don't see how two sub 180cm players who haven't been BOG in any form this year can be considered TOP 30 picks???? crazy!!!!!!
