Sorry to harp on about this sort of thing however it may be disappointing for people to miss out on the supporter pack but it is nearly the end of May FFS. Memberships are available from early Dec if I am correct (maybe earlier)
Would you prefer the club ordered 40000 membership packs, for arguments sake at a cost of $10 each (to the club - it could be more) and then we have a shitful year and they are forced to junk the left overs? On this year's figures alone, that is around $30k in potential savings. Imagine we had a crap year and there were 10000 unused packs? We are a club who cannot afford wastage in the bottom line because as we all know too well, there are a number of bandwagoners who will jump off again when we are inevitably crap again. I understand that people can't always afford a membership and that is fine, but perhaps this is a case of the early bird catching the worm. It is bad PR for the club, but what do people expect when they sign up halfway through the season?

It's not an exact science, and the science is certainly not settled as to how many memberships will be sold each year so perhaps the club should have a policy that after a certain date, the pack is unavailable and you get a voucher like they have done. In all honesty the pack wasn't even that good this year anyway ( I miss the cap) surely they have a bunch of stickers and stuff like that they could send out with the voucher or perhaps even an IOU fir next seasons pack?

Sorry for the rant, but some of you will know how much it shits me seeing members signing up in June getting signed guernseys while us Bulldogs for life get an email telling us about how awesome these people are

I understand where you're coming from, grassman. I would never feel resentful if I personally missed out on the gear because i joined up in May. But it's not about me. The Bulldogs are providing a service in a very crowded marketplace. And we need new members more than they need us. We have to bend over backwards to get people through the door, in order to survive in the long term.

So I don't care how unreasonable these potential members are - if they want to join we bloodywell better make that experience as positive as possible. Because we are starting from about 20,000 too few members for comfort.

Being relaxed about membership packages is a luxury we simply can't afford, in my view.

Does Melbourne member total also include MCC Members? That would drive their total up a bit if it does
Was only speaking with a mcc member yesterday who is a bombers supporter. He can pay an additional $50 per year to become a bombers member. Assume the same with the dees.

So in such a situation the club (Essendon or Melbourne) doesn't get as much revenue from a member as say we or the Saints would.
Once again we see the difficulty in comparing apples with apples in relation to club membership totals.

Essendon's situation is a strange one. Their official home ground is officially Etihad but they play 4 of their home games at the MCG, which I guess is why an MCC member can get a cheap upgrade to become an Essendon member.

AND the Bombers get a better deal at Etihad than we do, IIRC.

Actually, I was talking to someone from MFC last week, and the club apparently make more $$ from an MCC memeber who donates than a regular member. They get revenue from the MCC and that donatation, which is more than what they would get from the membership. Thats for the dees anyways, not sure about the other MCG clubs.

That's pretty interesting. So the MCC subsidises the MFC?
I wonder, if PG asked nicely ...?

Agree. If you sign up over a third of the way through the season you shouldn't complain if the member packs have run out. Too many people cry injustice without either thinking things through or attributing some of the fault to themselves.

Thanks for the feedback Tian, I assume you have all the facts.

I purchased a second membership as a gift the week after our round 1 match. Now perhaps my math is a little off, but I could swear that is not 1/3 of the way through the season.

Too many people "crying injustice" is not a problem around here, too many people making assumptions and feeling a need to have an opinion on everything are.

Interesting to note the club is advertising for a new Membership Manager

Good on you. I was referring to people that just signed up. You even quoted me saying that. Don't direct your outrage at me.

It's historical. MFC was formed out of the MCC way back over 150 years ago. I haven't really got an issue with that.

So you agree the the overwhelming majority who have signed up prior to round 7 have a right to "cry injustice" as you call it, or as I call it, ask a reasonable question of the membership department?

It's because of an internal promotion. Fiona was elevated to EXCo as head of membership. We are lucky to have her - she is a gun comes from a passionate bulldogs family background and wants the club to succeed for reasons beyond her job. Like many other areas of the club right now: membership is in good hands.

No, I think the earlier you sign up the more aggrieved you're entitled to feel in this situation. I do note that we haven't heard from anyone else that signed up as early as you say you did and has had this problem. It could be that you were very unlucky.

Given I never replied to your comment, never referred to you, and I clearly stated I was referring to people who signed up over a third of the way through the season, which you say doesn't apply to you, I can't work out why you keep directing your comments at me.

Since you posted this, we have had an average of 830 new members per week. We now only need 580 per week to hit 40,000. If we beat GWS I'm certain we'll get that.

It's a shame about the membership kits running out. The club should have known we'd have another big increase in membership.

+866 in the 7 days since I posted this. Well and truly on track for 40,000.
