2016 Top 8 Predictions

Too early but these are fun so I'll go:

1. Fremantle (Another strong finish I think)
2. Sydney (Way to much talent on this list, especially in the midfield)
3. Hawthorn (I've seen nothing to suggest they may drop off from 2015 onwards)
4. West Coast (Another great year, harder draw though, hopefully less injuries
5. Port Adelaide (Good comeback, better utilisation of talent)
6. North Melbourne (Another solid year I'm expecting)
7. Geelong (Assuming they get Danger)
8. Collingwood (Lots of young talent, especially if they nab Treloar)

9. Western Bulldogs
10. Essendon
11. GWS
12. Richmond
13. Adelaide
14. Gold Coast
15. St. Kilda
16. Melbourne
17. Brisbane
18. Carlton (Hard to pick a spooner, I guess it's a bit of a cop out answer to just pick this years spooner.)
Interested to hear your thoughts on why you see Essendon going past 4-5 sides next year?

Geez sides outside the 8 aren't going to win too many if eighth finish with 16 wins... This year, eighth finished with 13 wins and if you had 16, you finished 3rd-4th

I didn't put that much thought into it. Just how much each team would trail each other by

No-one knows what will happen in the F/A and Trade weeks.

  4. West Coast
  5. Fremantle
  6. Port Adelaide
  7. Western Bulldogs

  12. Adelaide
  13. St Kilda
  14. Gold Coast
  15. Melbourne
  16. Brisbane
  17. Carlton
  18. Essendon

I'll do a finals prediction:
WEEK 1
1 Qualifying final. Hawthorn vs West Coast
2 Qualifying final. Geelong vs Sydney
Elimination final 1. Fremantle vs GWS (Everyone will be questioning Ross Lyons Job after this & raving about how good GWS were).
Elimination final 2. Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs

WEEK 2
1 Semi-final. West Coast vs GWS
2 Semi-final. Sydney vs Port Adelaide

WEEK 3
Preliminary final 1 Hawthorn vs Sydney
Preliminary final 2 Geelong vs West Coast

WEEK 4
Grand Final. Hawthorn vs West Coast

Of Course all of this is Bias and Speculation but it's a bit of fun
(Sorry for Tigers fans that i predicted to come 9th)

In 2013 everyone thought Port was a lock for bottom 4. They finished 5th.
In 2014 everyone thought they'd slide out of the 8. They finished 3rd.
In 2015 everyone thought they were a top 4 lock, and a serious contender. They finished 9th.

Nobody has any ******* idea what's going on when it comes to Port. Odds are you don't either.

Pretty simple, really. Just do the opposite of what everyone is doing...

Couldn't think of anything worse than a Hawks, Cats, Swans top 3! Not that I have anything in particular against those 3 sides, but bugger off, it's meant to be a cyclical competition ;)

4 Hawthorn
5 Sydney Swans
6 Western Bulldogs
7 Richmond
8 Collingwood

9 Geelong Cats

11 Gold Coast Suns

*Maybe switch Port and Hawthorn but i suspect Hawthorn will slide a bit as per great sides after dominant eras*

Finals Series

QF1: West Coast vs Hawthorn
QF2: Port Adelaide vs Fremantle (might be controversial given i support freo but i think freo will do it for Pav if he plays on, my gut feel)
EF2: Western Bulldogs vs Richmond
EF1: Sydney Swans vs Collingwood

SF2: Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs
SF1: Hawthorn vs Sydney Swans

PF1: West Coast vs Port Adelaide (Just, Port have proven to be super competitive in finals away from home)
PF2: Fremantle vs Hawthorn (Sticking with the "do it for Pav' scenario)

GF: West Coast vs Fremantle (probably play the G better)

Without McPharlin who is Fremantle's best KPD? Who is the other KPF if Pavlich plays on? Pavlich shouldn't play on as he was extremely ordinary this year

Best KPD: Johnson, Alex Pearce also played a few games this season and performed well. Almost like a ready made replacement.
Other KPF: Taberner will keep developing i think but again this is pre trade so we'll see.

Those picking Essendon last have forgotten one thing...that the drugs saga will actually be over by Christmas with a not guilty verdict likely...it's the elephant in the room no-one is prepared to discuss.

As for the ladder:

1 - West Coast
2 - Fremantle
3 - Hawthorn
4 - Richmond
5 - North Melbourne
6 - Western Bulldogs
7 - Essendon
8 - Sydney
-----------------------
9 - St. Kilda
10 - Adelaide
11 - Port Adelaide
12 - Collingwood
13 - Geelong
14 - GWS
15 - Gold Coast
16 - Carlton
17 - Melbourne
18 - Brisbane

1 West Coast (they will be better for the experience of yesterday also McKenzie and Brown coming back will free McGovern up to play both ends. I can see him becoming one of the best big men in the game next year)
2 Freemantle (if they can get McCarthy and Bennel and Pav plays on they will have a more dangerous forward line that has always been there issue. It is next year or never for Ross and this group)
3 Richmond (they showed good signs during the home and away season and I think they will build on that, they need to add a bit of depth to the list.)
4 Collingwood (with Treloar and Aish coming to the club they should be able to take the next step and win those tight games against the top clubs)
5 Hawthorn (we saw this year that age is catching up with them they are not going to go through the year 20-2 any more. Last year they lost 6 home and away game the most the club had lost since 2010 I think some of the younger sides will be able to be better over the 22 weeks of the regular season. Saying that they are still more than good enough to get it done on the day and they showed this year that if they finish anywhere in the 8 they will be a huge chance to win the flag.)
6 Western Bulldogs (they are going to be challenged with a harder draw than last year and there key defensive posts are still a concern for mine, besides that they are an exciting young group and if Tom Boyd stands up then they could push in to the top 4.)
7 Sydney (got a lot of question marks over the Swans going in to next year, their key post in defence are aging and if Buddy can't get on the park they are going to be in a bit of trouble)
8 Geelong (Danger coming in will help strengthen the side and help get them back into the finals but they are still very much a list in transition it will be a few years before Geelong are a force again)

Yes if you get found not guilty you will be stuck with the same playing list as this year minus Carlise. Hardly strikes fear in the heart of anyone
