Tom Mitchell is a smokescreen. If anything it tells me that we have the cap space to get a big name player into our ranks next year.

Lets hope its JOM, Crouch, Hurley (?), Mitchell (in that order).

We will be extremely deficient in the middle next and the yrs to come.
O'Rourke is a average until he picks up his speed.
Lovell is still developing.
Howe is pretty average .. will be in/out of the teams his whole career

We really dont have anyone pushing through ..

Imagine if our mids contained JOM, Crouch, Mitchell, Jewis etc.. in 2017, with Rough to come back also.

Think Gibbo may retire this year. Silk possibly. But it will be on their terms.

You think Gibbo will have enough after another possible All Australian season this year ?

if you watch closely Gibbo is slowing down quiet noticeably .. he wont be able to hold down a key fwd. his role will simply be as a loose man and his smarts means he plays that quiet well . but we will possibly have HOdge, BUrgoyne, Gibbo all playing that type of roles next years ,, if they all play on.

I agree he's slowing down but he's still brilliant at this role.

Has been noticeable for two years. Luckily Stratts, Chip and Lithers when he plays are all super quick and if Brand can hold his spot it frees up Gibbo to do what he does best: read the flight going third up and initiating counter attacks

Interesting , two weeks after SOS speaks with JOM and his parents on the GC the w/end Blue's played up there , a leak surfaces that we are talking to a major target of theirs
....coincidence !??
Must've been a slow leak.......

Blues played at Cararra in round 3!

Maybe we turn Roughie into a almost full-time midfielder. We have shown that we have enough players down forward with Sicily and TOB stepping up and Schoenmakers to return too.

I think the periods are slightly different, don't you?

Both sides currently challenging for immediate success, not like when we traded Kennedy and McGlynn.
I think you missed the sarcasm...

The big 3 of Crouch/JOM/Mitchell are all good and if we were to land ANY of them I would be stoked but I would like to focus on adding players in their early 20s (who would be cheap) to the club to try and extend this success period by decreasing the reliance of blokes like TOB and Howe.

Just chewin the fat with a few boys last night and a couple of names we had been thinking of are:
(note: not huge on bigfooty, so sorry if these are common names being floated already)

___________________________________________________

Jon Paton (not cheap) – The next generation of FF, we need to really focus on who the next gorilla FF could be and getting Paton would speed the process up (rather than going to the draft)

Will Skin Elliot – No opportunity up north, probs got some Sicily about him and given out wingers wouldn’t be a senior look in, BUT would be cheap

Ben Lennon – Contracted and Shit injury filled year, jet, but surely unhappy with Dimma post finals last year, got a lot of hawks about him with his kicking and class, issue would be he could be surplus at our club and doesn’t add to the inside game we need.

Josh Green – Love to chase a bloke like this if we were to loose Bruest.

Smokey - Kane Lambert – A Depth player than could come in and fill a role in the midfield more than easily, I believe player like this is the way we continue to hold our spot, they arnt top liners and would currently be boardline 22 (considering just been dropped from Rich 22) BUT like Sydney has always done, you gotta find them cheap (Mcglynn & Kennedy L )

Anyway that’s my 2 cents

Enough with the injury concerns on players, heard it all before on Lakey & Burgoyne.. etc. And guess what I didn't see those who did talk about them & their injuries & stand up and say they were wrong. Andrew Russell is second to none.

So people think Shoe, Hill, Shiels will be on trade table to get A grade midfielders in the ilk of JOM, Crouch, Fyfe. Bruest's name has been thrown up as well, it all depends how well Hardwicke can replace Bruest's ability to at least kick 30 goals and ground level pressure but I take it he will be last on that list to be thought of traded.

They were proven senior players who had made All-Australian teams, this kid has played 30 games. Besides the injury concerns I don't think he's as good an option as the other two we've been linked to.

Ben Lennon would be a good get.

On the flip side fwiw i reckon the below are tradeable
Hartung - good currency and upside for a team like Gold Coast for some outside speed.. they lack this atm (JOM)
Schoenmakers - for any team wanting some key pos. versatility .. Sydney perhaps (tom mitchell)

The consensus from Suns fans are they have more than enough points for academy selections this year so I would suggest next years 1st and 2nd picks might be more attractive in luring O'Meara.
This would open the door for trading this years 1st pick for Crouch.
I wouldn't mind packaging this years 2nd rounder and say Litherland for a genuine utility like Adam Tomlinson.

Would not even trade Breust for Fyfe

Now let's not get crazy ;)

I'd give up all the S' and change my name to FyfeFyfeFyfeFyfeFyfeFyfe if we could land 2015 him.
