Hi Everyone

With all the talk around Rockliff's future and the captaincy in 2017, what are peoples thoughts on who should lead the club?

Presonally I believe that Robinson should be the next captain as he leads by example and is hard as nails.

If not Robinson then Beams would be my next choice.

Zorko in the hope that he can learn to channel his frustration properly on the field. Captaincy might be asking a bit much of Robbo, and would Beams even want the job?

I don't think it's a bridge too far for Robbo.This of course is looking from the outside.I just get the feeling he would step up his transformation even further.It would be a massive story too.Can the media handle this sort of stuff ?
 
Robbo.

Zorks, Rich and Stef as vices so they can focus on leading by example.
 
It's not an area in which we've got a great deal of depth.

Stef, Hanley, Zorko, Robbo, Bewick, Rockliff, D.Beams, Rich, Bell, Bundy, Basti, Harwood, C.Beams* and Eagles are our only current players who are aged 25+ or so. I guess Jack Frost will be 25 before the next season starts, but yeah everyone else is just too young for what we need right at the moment.

Much as I love what Zorko and Robbo do on field I don't think they've got the temperament for it - VCs sure. The others I just don't think it's their forte. As for Eagles I guess he at least wore the armband a few times during that TV show :D
Honestly, I reckon if we're going for a new captain in 2017 we need to bring one in. I still like Jordanc Lewis for that.

Got some great attributes in kids like Andrews or Keays but reckon giving them that responsibility right now is just going to be too much for them. Given time and Fagan we'll be right for a captain in 5 years though.

* Jeez I just discovered that Claye is nearly 25. Cripes.

I think we need a Co captain arrangement. Either the two Danes or one dane & a younger player like andrews to grow them into the role but halving the burden so it doesnt overwhelm them
 
Dayne Beams is not captain material IMHO. Great player. But if the concerns of Rockliffs off field life is a problem then Beams would be a smack in the face.

Robinson would be great. Considering where he has come from on field and off. The way he has turned his life around. Body on the line stuff all the time.

Zorko. Would be my choice. Loves the club. Loves his team mates.

I love the idea of a co-captaincy. I would be inclined to let Rockliff stay in the leadership group though. Don't need to totally burn him, he still has some valuable leadership attributes. If there is any chance of him finishing his career here we don't want to throw him completely under.
 
I want Rockliff to come out and lead this club back into the powerful club we once were. Mainly to make a fool of that jerk Barrett who wants to drag him through the dirt - if he departs, no idea.

Robinson - I really enjoy him, he is selfless, passionate and a definite leadership group type simply because he leads by example.
Whether he is standalone captain material I have my doubts.
Robinsons strength is his relentless attack and fearlessness - not controlling/reading a game with football IQ. I did see him be over the top demonstrative with a few young blokes last game which I don't mind but wasn't a great look.
Let Robbo be Robbo.

Calls for Andrews I think may be a few years off.. let our back 6 get settled and more importantly let's get our mids to stop allowing stupid inside 50 numbers. Hopefully down the track have him as a 3rd tall floater where he can be a general. Not taking the best forward.
But if he is as good a leadership prospect as people say - I'd like him as the face of the club absolutely.
 
The impression I gleam from the club is that Zorko is much loved but is not necessarily the smartest cookie in the jar.

Will be Beams I reckon. Andrews the heir to the throne.

Considering what has happened relating to Rockliff in this trade period, I don't think this is Barrett's fault.
 
If he does go Damo will be sniffing around his new club to bring something to light. It's bordering on personal - was the same with leppa.
He's got his crocmedia clique to back him in any case.

This is very much how I see Mitch Robinson. Great soldier, but leader?
He has done very well to turn his game/life around, and he gives his all, but not sure I would have him in charge of anything other than himself.
Zorko on the other hand, I have seen real personal growth in and is slowly maturing. I could see him taking the next step soon.
