Kicking efficiency. Sometimes he sprints so fast, you can see his legs kind of forget how to work at the end.

I thought that might be the case, but I did some research and he actually ranks high for effective disposals and disposal efficiency. And he was 58th in clangers this year which is pretty low.

“There’s been a lot of talk about the (Patrick) Dangerfield-Joel Selwood combination, but I think Scott Selwood’s going to slip nicely in there and have a massive season,” Thurlow said.

“He’s absolutely flying on the training track and in the running at the moment and is really strong.

“I think it’s his first full pre-season in a while ... but look for him to really dominate next year.”

SSelwood flying under radar to be a midprice stepping stone or M9 this year maybe.

Off the top of their head does anyone know who the top midfielders are who have missed a full year with an ACL over the last few years? Libba and Hayes are the only two that are coming to mind.

Robbie Gray?

I said in my Doggies write up about I expect Libba to have a cracking year because I always like picking blokes after they have a full year back from injury. These are the premo mids I can think of that had a serious leg/knee injury and missed 12 months. Keep in mind some of these are a bit off because they got injured towards the end of year.

Barlow:
Pre injury - 116
First year back (9 games) - 83
First full year back - 95
Second full year back - 110

Gray:
Pre injury - 91
*Played two games for an average of 70 in year of injury*
First year back (18 games) - 82
First full year back - 110
Second full year back - 110

Hayes:
Pre injury - 103
*Played two games for an average of 86 in year of injury*
First year back/first full year back (22 games) - 102
*Played 14 games @ 91*
Second full year back - 101

Libba:
Pre injury - 110
First year back (17 games) - 90
Second year back: ..?

Hopefully that makes sense.

Ah yes. The night I went Gaj over Danger for captain. Screwed my season in one night. Was on the back foot from then on.

Same with me. I'll be starting with Danger so he can be C/VC every week.
715k well spent.

Does Barlow as a full time mid at GC appeal to anyone? I know he burnt people last year, but I feel that was more how he was used rather than him.

If he still had M/F I'd take a good look at him but as a pure mid I'd rather spend the extra 50 - 90k and grab a super premium. Hope he does well at GC, great footballer shame Ross Lyon messed him about the last few years. Deserved better.

Massive POD with the ability to go large...could do worse!
Agree that he can produce better than last years numbers.wait and see how the GC mids look before pulling the trigger...some new faces may take a bit to warm.future upgrade perhaps.

In DT yes, in SC no

If he was a fwd also he'd be my 1st fwd picked

That's a very simplified view. Sure he's had low 20's and got 140. But they include hitouts to advantage which he loses this year. He's had plenty of games in high 20's and early 30's where he's in that 85-110 range.
Fair enough mate.

I expect him to improve, only 21.

I think he'll stall tbh
