Deledio out means I need a fwd now. Mitch Robinson. Convince me not too lol

Somewhat confused why you both have Deledio and are wanting to dump him over what, by all reports, is a pretty minor bit of soreness they're being cautious with. I mean, you’ve presumably only just picked him up? Granted, the words "Deledio" and "hamstring" even being in the same article is less of a red flag and more a supercharged air raid siren amped up to about 26 (/10), but, hey, if you've got Deledio you presumably had to expect it would happen sooner or later.

But maybe you were just planning on bringing him in and the plan got squashed due to the issue. I guess that would make sense.

Anyway, as for Robbo, I'm not going to try to persuade you against it, he's quality and I fully expect to him scoring like this all year. Has occasionally attracted a short suspension, but only short and occasional. Isn't prone to recurring injuries. Has at times been giving a tagging role, and likes to handball, which affects his scoring, but still a safe pick I reckon.

Side note: I now have Greene, Deledio, and Lobb on the bench of my draft side. Not sure exactly what the GWS medical staff are up to... :drunk: probably

Ouch for your bench mate! Leon cameron is being a smart coach though and making sure his squad is fit for the pointy end of the season which is shit for us supercoach afficionados.

As for me, I started the season with Lids and Buddy and am holding both, just need to upgrade one of my fwd rooks now otherwise I have to field 3 spuds (Fritsch, Crowden & English). At the moment I have brought Sicily in for Banfield and moved Crowden to Mid Bench, Fwd line looks like below now. Absolutely burning trades but currently ranked 171st

Note: my comments above were particularly thinking in AFL Fantasy. Robbo's pretty similar across the formats though.

Ah, that makes more sense. Still, selecting Lids in SC just seems like a massive risk to me. Great player ofc but those hamstrings are closer to cheesestrings these days. Need to keep him now though!

At least in the draft competitions injuries are less of an issue :)

Hey guys was just wanting some info around Oscar McInerney’s next 6 weeks or so job security?

Josh Walker doesn’t look like he’s doing much in the reserves and McInerney appears to be ahead of Smith.

Is there a likely chance Walker comes in for McInerney or even McInerney just gets dropped and Eagles or no one backs up Stefan?

Hard to say. Views around here can vary on Oscar as a senior player already, I am bullish on him.

Our rucks are all pretty different sort of players tbh.

Stef - decent but not top tap ruck, gets a lot of hitouts but not necessarily to advantage (this is at least partially caused by midfield weakness, mind), but also a major contributor around the contest
Walker - blue collar forward who can provide some chopout
Archie - probably the most classic in terms of "ruckman" athletically, best vertical leap of the bunch for example. As a ruck, his timing's not perfect but is improving. Not much use up forward but can contest around the ball.
Oscar - yuuuuugggggeeeee, probably pretty much overtaken Archie/Josh for tapwork. Beyond that is best used as a forward where he's coming along.

So if you want a backup for Stef, it's really between Oscar (ruck/forward) and Walker (forward/ruck). With Stef going like gangbusters right now, you'd probably tend towards the Walker archetype. But he's not in great form right at the moment. Awkward. So Oscar it is.

One of the things about the Walker/Oscar chopout is that it won't tend to hurt Stef's output so much as they both go forward whereas Archie is more doubling-up on the Stef stuff.

We wouldn't want to be going into too many games without at least chopout, it's a bit too much to expect Stef to midfield while also taking pretty much all the hitouts as well. So more or less, I reckon he's got at least until Walker is thumping down the door, which right now he isn't.

Which is not the most, helpful of answers to "should I use a trade bringing him in", I appreciate that, but it's what I've got for you. I started with English+Oscar as my bench rucks, and I'm pretty happy about that decision rn :)

Thanks for your response, much appreciated.

The analyse regarding the different rucks and why Archie isn't getting a game right now is very useful.

I wouldn't even be considering the Big O if Nic Nat didn't get suspended but being so highly ranked this year, I've decided i'm either bringing in Martin for Nic Nat (gives me no ruck playing in round 13 bye) or Mcinerney for Olango which means I keep Nic Nat who has the nice bye (round 12) and hope that Oscar is playing in round 12 as cover for Nic Nat in his bye.

Looking at the last few weeks (last week a bye in the NEAFL), one would assume that it is really only Walker that could replace him. You'd think they'd try and blood as many games into the Big O as possible, but he may need a rest soon (hopefully not round 12) or Walker might be playing too good in the reserves to not come back into the side.

If the later occurs, is there any chance McStay could be the one to make way for Walker?

Also, is there a chance Big O gets dropped/rested even if not for Walker and Brisbane use Eagles as a chop out for Martin?

Any chance that Paparone will be coming into the side this week after a strong NEAFL performance? And will he be playing a fantasy friendly role like he has done in the past at times? Draft related question...

How is Ben Keays tracking?

He's ok in the reserves but I wouldn't expect to see him come up for a while.

I'm also not 100% sure he'll make it, at a minimum he'll be a slow developer.

Yeah but nah not really, he's barely making the breakeven for a bottom-priced rookie. Which there's nothing wrong with, there's a huge chunk of defenders and forwards who play vital roles but have basically no fantasy game.

Heck, Harris Andrews has got to be in serious AA squad contention (at least!) this year but he's only just barely getting to the point where you'd be picking him up off the free agency scrap heap of a very deep category draft competition because you need some extra marks.

How have u guys seen mcinerarys form recently?

Was quiet on the weekend but the conditions were hardly conducive to his game. Think he's been quite good, provides some very quality chopout, and is structurally an important addition to our forward line.

Hi folks,
What is happening with Ben Keays please. Plenty of games 2016 & 2017 but nothing in 2018.
Do you see him getting games?
Cheers.
Other draftees have gone past him. He is amongst the emergencies and will probably get a game eventually but unlikely he will be a regular this season by the look of it unless there are some injuries.

Hey guys any chance Connor Ballenden will get a call up this year?
He has only just played his first game back after a few weeks out with a fractured cheek bone.
Would need a few weeks back in the 2’s to get his match fitness up before being considered.
But I think it would only be via injuries to the boys currently playing for him to get a chance later towards the end of the year.

Hi folks,
I have taken over a team in a keeper league and have Liam Dawson listed. Is he likely to make the grade or will he be delisted?
Cheers.

Obviously Archie Smith has slipped down the pecking order at the Lions. What are his performances like in the magoos and where do you see his future please?

Performances have been good in the twos. However, mixing Stef+Archie doesn't work so well, because both need plentiful centre bounces to be their best. So playing both reduces both their effectivenesses. Whereas Oscar can also play forward quite well, far better than either Stef or Archie.

I want to take some time to go through and do some more thorough review of Archie's timing of his ruckwork, traditionally a weakness for him and his development there will determine his future. Haven't done that yet. But I generally think that where Archie could come in in the future, it's in for Stef, not for Oscar.
