It’s not ideal , but the pay off for those 4 games was a nice shiny new stadium , that’s how I see it . I’m sure evans would of pushed our case to the Afl , I’m pretty sure his not over the moon playing a home game in Wa , but his got us a good deal with those 4 games . Hopefully the boys can come home strong the back end of next season to bring the love back for the fans , but we all new this day was coming.

I appreciate you discussing it logically and respectfully with me as opposed to the personal effort of GCSunsfan (who was given a thumbs up by our moderator SUNS) which was to say I can’t have an opinion on the decisions of the CEO.

Feel free to add to the Rules that the great Mark Evans is beyond reproach if that’s how you want it to be.

Fancy a situation where the administrator of a Footy Club can’t be questioned.

Haha you can question him, I don't mind. It's good to have these pitbull styled aggressors supporting a club. Keeps everyone on their toes. I personally love whats going on and when you look at it realistically it is the best thing we could have hoped for. But you're entitled to your opinion and I love the passion!

Play down at the Tweed/Cooly Blues home ground. Remember kicking a few on that ground as a junior ;)

You know what! I actually kicked my first ever competition goal on that ground (if its still the same) playing for the Burleigh Bombers under 10's

I'm looking forward to two Suns games two weeks in a row at the new Perth stadium. As a Perth Suns member I've never experienced that before

I'd say you wont ever see it again haha. Not unless something kooky happens in/around finals

I can see the logic behind selling a home game to play at the new Perth stadium. It’s about having the best opportunity to win early games. The Eagles game is winnable and spending a week in Perth before facing Freo can only help with no travel.

Facts.

1. Cannot play anywhere in Queensland over the two weeks of the Comm games due to federal legislation.
2. We're effectively locked out of our home ground for the first 10 weeks of the season due to said games and the impact they have on the stadium, We knew they was going to happen for a good couple of years.
3. We were going to have to play in WA regardless this year.
4. We get the gate for said Perth home game early in the life of a new stadium that people will be chomping at the bit to get into.
5. There isn't going to be an AFL standard ground between the border and friggen Newcastle so dont even bother.

Considering the challenges of the season, Evans has been creative and frankly smashed it out of the park, Making lemonade out of a shit sandwich.

Anyone that can't see that can honestly go suck a lemon.

Suns, we are the Gold Coast Suns-we exist to grow the game on the Goldy, Gold Coast sponsors, members and possible future fans get only 7 goes at it next year.
It’s terrible.
I’m not buying into this at all.
It’s just a sell out of the game (literally) on the area that bares the clubs name.

Be interested to know what Gold Coast residents on BF think of this.
Bods I'm rapt with the Freo sold game
I'm from WA and had already booked holidays West while the Games were on to escape all the crap that will go down here.
The Suns following me - thats unreal !!
I'll be at both Perth matches.☺

Imagine if we beat both WA clubs in there brand new stadium with Lachie Weller getting BOG against Freo? Would be amazing.

Considering the logistical nightmare Evans had to work around I think he has done a pretty decent job of it.

The Shanghai and North Queensland games were always happening regardless and we are getting a pretty decent sum for moving those games even if Im not a fan of actually playing in China against Port.

Only the 1 home game at the Gabba is better than I expected and still gives fans a chance to get there for it.

And the game in Perth is a pretty outside the box, but clever move by Evans IMO. Not only should it be financially rewarding, but playing there twice in a row, staying the week and eliminating the need to travel to Perth and back and then again later in the year is clever, assuming we make the most of that week and dont treat it like a holiday.

Still not ideal at all, but better than it could have been, and at the very least we will be making a nice bit of money out of a bad situation. And 11 home games to end the year after 11 weeks travelling in a row was never happening. Both logistically and the toll on the players in the first half of the season would have been ridiculous.

*Huuuuuunrrrng*

That would be so amazing I don't know if I could control myself if that happened.

I can see us getting a big crowd at the new Perth stadium alot of freo fans obviously but you'd get a number of West coast supporters probably cheering us on to beat freo.

As far as only the 7 home games at carrara bodsy. It isn't ideal but given the circumstances it's forgivable. Yes we are called the Gold Coast sun's but a huge push of our development in the afl is to northern Queensland so I've got no issues with sending a game a year to Cairns/Townsville. China is something special and considering we play in the national colours it will be a good investment bringing financial support back to qld. For player welfare I'm pretty sure the afl and players association would have forced the club's hand in playing a certain amount of games in qld early in the season hence the Gabba game and likely a gabba game v brissy aswell.

As a gc resident for the last 21 years I'm really not too bothered with TV coverage these days you'll never miss a beat even if you can't afford foxtel. And it's going to be a nightmare to go anywhere or do anything on the goldy for the month of march. Getting 7 games in the space of 11 weeks means we will likely get 2 at home 1 away every 3 weeks. Anymore and I think you have to worry about over saturation. Especially if the club isn't performing. After all we all have lives outside of footy spending time with family or doing work. Afl isn't like NRL the game goes about an hour longer so losing half days consecutive weeks over the 11 week period will be too much for most people. I mean it's not like our club will play in prime time spots.

Anyway the club's memberships will reflect the lack of games financially and we should have the choice about including gabba games but we probably won't which is the bigger issue.

So at a guess fixture is gonna look like
Rd1 north at cairns
Rd 2 wc at Perth
Rd 3 freo at Perth
Rd 8 ?? At Gabba
Rd9 port at China
Rd 11 Metricon

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Rd2 v West coast in Perth won't happen.
West coast play a home game in Rd 1. It will be Freo's turn in Rd 2. However playing West coast in Perth in Rd 4 is still on the cards.

Yeah your right ,

Rd 4 wc at Perth
Rd 8 ?? At Gabba
Rd9 port at China
Rd 11 Metricon

Between rd.4 and rd.8 i can see a QClash at the Gabba in there , so all in all could be a lot worse.
