Draft Profile 2018 Mature Aged Prospects

I think his former South team mate Tim Kelly has opened the door for him.

Pickett has the silk and magic that we love about Indigenous fellas but throw in the fact that he is great inside as well as out and got 36, 24 and 30 disposals in his last three games once moving into the middle and he becomes impossible to ignore. 26 years of age, so can give 5 years or so of outstanding service to an AFL club.
Not that I have seen him play but he's averaging 21 touches and 0.1 goals this season. Surely as a 26 year old mature ager, you would want a state league mid to have a high rate of productions. Kelly was 3 years younger and was getting great midfield numbers and was hitting the the scoreboard.

The thing is Pickett was playing in the backline early in the season.

But since going into the centre his numbers have been Kelly-like.

Quite similar players actually.

I love watching him weave through traffic and break away.

I think the main problem was he went to jail .

Marsh has been outstanding. Another player who could impact AFL immediately but I wonder if clubs are brave enough to take a chance on delisted players - thus only 3 (Bolton, DeLuca, Schloithe) on the list. But yeah, I should have included him. All of these guys would play AFL seniors in 2019 if given a chance

He wasn’t delisted by Collingwood. In fact, very much a required player and was playing AFL footy. He asked to leave and went back home. I think AFL wasn’t for him which is why a trade wasn’t even facilitated back with a WA club. He was outstanding in the WAFL in 2017, and I’m sure clubs would have spoken to him. However, I don’t think he wants to play AFL. Simple as that. Who knows, maybe with added maturity he may now be ready to jump back in it?

A fairly brief top 10 list of VFL guys who could translate back to the top level.

1. Corey Rich (Frankston)
2. Anthony Brolic (Box Hill)
3. Michael Gibbons (Williamstown)
4. Sam Collins (Werribee)
5. Nash Holmes (North Melbourne)
6. Alex Harnett (Frankston)
7. Tom Atkins (Geelong)
8. Callan Wellings
9. Billy Hayes (Footscray)
10. Josh Corbett (Werribee)

I've been surprised Freo havent picked him up.
Anyone know what he does for a living, given WAFL footy is not fully professional?

Most of these guys could play AFL seniors in 2019. But don't take my word for it, search for some footage or watch a replay of some WAFL games on channel 7 website. Best part is, an instant return

Cant agree, Nelson has been there about for so long, must be a reason he hasnt got a gig.

I think they are worried about his disposal. Not 100% sure. Although a lot of his disposals are on the inside (Handpasses). But yeah, this year is probably his last chance, whereas a lot of others on this list are just emerging.

Thanks for reminding me of this resource. Watching the East Perth vs West Perth game now. Been impressed with some of the plays of Jaxon Cahill and Connor West.

Rich played at Sandringham Dragons and private school at Haileybury from memory, was cut from the VIC Metro squad prior to the championships. Also won a VAFA C-Grade premiership at Old Haileybury last year

My guy at Frankston says (about Corey Rich), he has an elite tank, runs up and down the ground all day. Field kicking lets him down every now and again but he's a really good chance to be picked up.

Watching the game live i thought Cahill was average. Got a tonne of it but like his other defenders, he seemed to use it poorly or made average decisions. That said, it was his debut.
