I'm just so torn on Rocky. He'll play midfield yes, but he's going to have a lot of good mids around him. At the Lions Beams was out a lot, it was mostly just Rocky and that's it. He'll go 110-115 is my estimate. The round 10 bye is annoying. The durability as well is a worry. Every year he goes down with something. I'm wondering if it's better to go a Brad Crouch who's the same price and someone I see going 110
Yeah I was thinking along the same lines but it’s Rocky. You have to go with Rocky through fear if nothing else. His ceiling just can’t be ignored and is still the best in the game imo. Getting him in at that price is an absolute bargain. 110 is at the lower end for Rocky, he could go well above that.

Agreed. He will be out to prove something at a new club and most Port guys I speak to are keen to see him do something special so a lot is expected of him.

Has anyone had a look at Luke Dunstan?

Priced at 88, averaged 98.8 in his last 9 games last year, and 109 over his last 6. Armitage coming back into the team possibly affects this, but possibly not. Did seem to conincide with Koby Stevens moving forwards, so could've been a switch of roles? Will need Saints fans to help here

St Kilda don't leave Melbourne in the first 5 weeks, and have 6 of their first 10 games at Etihad.

Montagnas another one who stopped playing the last 4-6 games from memory

no chance he plays predominately forward.
we are stupid if we play all 3 of Wingard, Gray and Rockliff up forward for 60%+ of the season.

Rockliff now becomes our best midfielder, followed closely by Wines/Ebert/Polec

Our centre bounce setup for first bounce of round 1 will be Ryder/Rockliff/Wines/Ebert

Does Wingard start playing more up forward? he was great in the midfield last year.

I've promised myself I will try and be more positive this season...hopefully I don't pick too many "heath shaw" types this season

anyone picked shaw last year was screwed from the start , i picked him and will never go there again even if he might be a little underpriced and kill it

Had a look around at prices and stuff for the first time today

One that stands out for me (although highly risky) is Ryan Griffen. Priced at around a 54 average. Injury is obviously a big issue, there is talk he might replace Zac Williams down back in a rebounding role. Definitely keeping an eye on that during pre season

Previous seasons
84, 78, 85, 105, 97, 98, 91

On a similar line of thought, Dom Sheed?

His scoring pattern looks very Mitch Duncan 2014-16/Lachie Neale 2014-15 esque, can score tons but can give you 50s also

What do people think of Zorko?

He has such a huge ceiling, but those two games where he was tagged for sub 50 scores is really turning me off. It's likely he will get tagged and it's a bit of a risk starting him based on this imo.

Upgrade material

Those tagged scores will come and when they come imo jump on him a week or two later

He is a much more attractive pick than the injury prone Beams though

I clearly remember you saying the same thing last year about Adams.
Did, but Beams has 5 years of injury plagued years and there's plenty of options in his position

Adams had 2 I think

I've since shifted my perimeters on the issue

Injury prone straight mids are a no go zone for me unless you're Tom Rockliff, so I'm not looking at GAJ, Beams etc. Injury prone top scorers up forward and down back I'm looking at though as it will be easier to replace them I feel if they go down and they will be more popular picks, so the likes of Barlow and Hibberd are in my plans

Looking through the slightly underpriced Swans mids, is Parker due for another 105 year?

He seems to bounce up and down since 2014, with 14 and 16 being his higher years and 15 and 17 his lower years. JPK has shown similar scoring trends also since 2012 with 2012, 14, 15 and 16 being high years, though 15 was an outlier here compared to Parker.

Then there's Hanners who was elite in 2015-16, and just a middle of the pack scorer in 14 and 17.

Get the 105 types right and you're laughing

I'm a 36 year Swans member and love them but I have no idea what you will get from our mids this year. One could be 110, another 90. Guessing which is which is the reason I'm not touching them.

While I understand the logic (i feel the same about the Dogs, particularly our forward eligible types), they are all priced between 94-98, not 105 like previous years, surely they are better value this year to punt on? Even 5 ppg better is worth it for JPK and Parker imo.

I'm kinda thinking not going Coniglio and Armitage now and just locking in Parker and JPK for M5-6 and going three at the back

I think there is always hesitancy about picking from your own team. I usually stay away from Eagles players, and will do so this year (with the exception of Venables and possibly Rioli although he will be a 40-50 type player im predicting, so might look elsewhere depending on JLT)

Yep, am uneasy about picking Rockliff for this reason. If I pick him and he continues on from his second half of the season, I will be furious at him DT wise and also just depressed that our big new recruit is flopping/spluttering. If I don't pick him he will surely kill it and my DT season is stuffed, but I'll still be over the moon because he'll be doing it in a Port jumper.

Thinking I will go with him though because with emotion removed it's a good punt to take DT wise, and if he does start pigging for Port I definitely want to be on that ride.

One thing that I am going to try and do again this year which helped massively last year is starting with DPP links between Bac/Mid and Mid/Fwd in the midfield. Last year although Mitch Hibberd wasn't playing, having him as M10 was hugely helpful to shift players around week to week when a rookie like Otten or Newman was gunning it.

At this stage my Mid bench is Wigg, Higgins, J.Smith pending JLT

Is Wigg starting the season? I know months back he got a pretty serious injury but I am not sure how long he was ruled out for, if it was just the pre-season.

This was incredibly useful, at the moment after my tinkering yesterday I have no links, however I have multiple players with Bac/Mid and Mid/Fwd statuses.

Judging by the report when he was injured I would be very surprised if he was ready for round 1.

Just started straight line running after a fractured ankle. Could be a good in-season downgrade.

Would be perfect if he is sitting on less than 3 games after the China game!

Pretty comfortable picking Titch :thumbsu:

I do get the sentiment though
