If Dunstan isn’t wanting to leave, I’d be trying to keep him. Although I wouldn’t object to a trade, just seems a waste to get rid of 80 odd games experience and a potential leader. Worst case he plays VFL and adds depth.

7 players already gone and I would be trading Savage, Newnes, Weller and Lonie before Spook (but all depends on trade value). Surely we aren’t turning over more than 10 players.

Agree with the keeping of Dunstan, at least shows a bit of mongrel and pride, looks dirty as all get out when we lose. Sure, thats not a basis for keeping him but I reckon his best is actually very good and has a good footy IQ. Think we'll regret it when he leaves to hit his straps elsewhere. Also understand the argument for trading him given our seemingly one-paced midfield, just hope we give him another year.

In hindsight i'd still pick McCartin, he's just awfully unlucky with concussions and other injuries. Not to mention the absolute awful delivery the poor bloke gets inside 50. I have no doubt at all in my mind that had we overlooked McCartin and he went to the Demons for instance who have better ball users by us and he is second key forward to Hogan, he'd be performing better than he is currently and we'd be here discussing how in hindsight we should've taken Paddy imo.

ps, hearing my main man Lukey D amongst trade talk makes me wanna cry :'(

Don't forget Richo's brilliant game plan ;)

Hawks got a quality mid as a finals contender, Suns got two firsts, we got Long, Battle, and eventually Hunter.
Amazing what JOM actually cost Hawthorn.

For starters they traded Brad Hill (who has since won a club B&F) for pick 23, then they on-traded that pick to us, along with their future first (which ended up being pick 7) and another 2nd rounder, for the pick of ours that ended up being pick 12, plus our pick 68.

They then traded that pick 10 (12) and their future 2nd (which ended up being pick 26, which ended up at West Coast, which they used on Liam Ryan) for JOM.

So JOM and pick 68 (ended up being 63, where Dylan Clarke was picked) effectively cost them:

Brad Hill (pick 25- Ben Long)
Pick 7 (Hunter Clark)
Pick 39ish (Josh Battle)
Pick 26 (Liam Ryan)

Now JOM is good, but by crickey that's an extraordinary price to pay for someone who isn't on the Dusty/Danger/Fyfe type level of output or potential and who came with a massive injury query!

It's a move that has obviously helped them in the short term, but they could pay the price for it in the long run, if they don't win another flag before the likes of Burgoyne, Roughead and so-on retire.

By which time there's a very good chance that all of Hunter, Long, Battle and Ryan will be playing good level AFL footy, based on what we've seen from them so far.

Unsettled players is exactly what I want to hear..

What we don't know is the reason they're unsettled.

Is it because they are dissatisfied with Richo or is it because in the exit interviews he lined a few up and gave them a healthy dose of the truth?

IMO if they are wanting change they are getting it, new board, new assistants..

Time to shut up and play footy

Corey Ellis, Connor Menedue and Oleg Marcov should all be on our radar from Richmond you would hope. All uncontracted and all would be cheap as chips. All have pace and use the footy well but can't break into the seniors on a full time basis. All named in the best in their finals loss on the weekend. Ellis and Menedue have both had very good seasons in the VFL.

And then there is Braydon Ellis who is contracted but was just dropped for the first final and there are rumours he may be out the door. He was also named in the best on the weekend.

And a third Ellis - Brandon! Soft as butter, but can run all day.

In all seriousness - I’d take he and Menedue for sure. Both are quick and fix some holes. Kicking a bit iffy though?

I don’t think B.Ellis is that much of an upgrade on Savage TBH. One of those “looks great in a great team” types.

Yes Brandon, Braydo's brother.

Both those two would really fit a need I think. Menedue would cost **** all too you would think.

Corey Ellis is an interesting one. Has had a few injury issues early but playing some really footy in the VFL now. He doesn't have a huge amount of pace but he is elite by foot and very damaging as well as being versatile.

They do seem like players that could all play a roll for us tbh. Brandon, although quiet, would add so much high level experience. Corey and Connor both seem like they would play a good roll for us and lift some standards.

Like.

These guys are an upgrade on some we’ve let go, there’s a long way to go and nothing would surprise me given all the rumours.

I think that’s it. Not expecting these guys to be stars, cos they’re not. But one or all would be an upgrade of our bottom 6 currently ( certainly Brandon would ).

It’s a slow build from here you’d think. We just don’t offer anything to stars that better clubs can’t match or more.

It’s a dull feeling getting worked up over Richmond rejects.

Crap that I go on and on about it. Have mentioned it a few times for fun, but always knew Francis would come good. And it is usually just to shit Essendon supporters and King who say we traded 5 for Carlisle.

Maybe I should hear an unsubstantiated rumour crack the sads about it moan and bitch about the club and its people based on the rumour in every post and generally make the forum unreadable.

Wait that position is already taken though isn't it?

Nah your good with the aggressive tough guy who acts like pragmatist but still prone to nuclear melts while picking apart everyone else posts. There's a place for everyone on BF. Obviously your posts about how shit everyone else posts are are more readable.
