I also feel we are no good at protecting our fellow midfielders as well though. Only two who I reckon protect our own is Steele and Dunstan, so Hanners could be in for more of the same if he comes to us.
This. A great point. It does my head in that we handball to someone and watch their opponent cruise by and tackle the receiver!

Hawks got a quality mid as a finals contender, Suns got two firsts, we got Long, Battle, and eventually Hunter.
We were never in the hunt for him but made an excellent trade.
Not you Rors, but some on here can never admit the club does some things right, and even better than others occasionally.

Just FWIW, I met someone at a party last night who is friends with Spook. She didn’t add too much detail to what we already know, but just clarified a few things. She sees Blake and Lonie a bit apparently as they’re mates with Luke. What I got from the conversation:
-All 3 have been shopped around somewhat.
-Not all is tip top from the players perspective.
-Blake is quite happy in Melbourne and doesn’t want to be traded.
-Luke is not wanting to leave but seems high likely he’ll be traded.
-Lonie is a very cruisy person, doesn’t care about much and isn’t too phased either way what happens.
Obviously grain of salt sort of stuff - but the person seemed genuine. None of that is overly surprising, if true though it’s good to hear that Blake is happy in VIC and Spook is preferring not to leave. I’m sure Bassett is conducting all the chats now about player happiness etc

Nice to hear that Luke is actually happy with us at the moment. Very loyal player, always gives his all. Just needs to be more consistent with his involvement.

I just said I'm glad we didn't get him, he's going to always carry an injury risk and still misses games. He's a good player but he's not the champion he was going to be.
You always go on and on about beating Essendon on the Carlisle trade and can't admit neckbeard is a good player. Sometimes logic gets overlooked when you want to justify your stance. Sometimes it's just the old, hot chick rejected me for a cool guy with a Ferrari...didn't want her anyway, she was total ugly bitch with a weird head and a shit personality.

Not sure TBH. This person was friends with Luke from SA, and said Blake and Lonie are with him a fair bit. Quite possible they live together. Interesting if those 3 are good buddies and they’re also the names that have been up for trade.

Honestly didn’t ask too many questions, and I had a fair amount of beers so I can’t remember details. Pretty sure I did ask what they were unhappy about. From memory it was just the year that was, then probably possible player movement on top of that - but I’m just guessing at some of that.
It's a case of whom, than how many..
I expect Lonie will stay , wouldn't get anything better in a trade - just hope nothing better than what we offer him - they wouldn't give him a contract yet until after the trade period , where he could used to sweeten a trade.
