Jack homsch anyone? Know very little about him other than our key defensive posts are thin for afl quality types and he will cost a packet of chips.
the sandwich bite

don't know much about him but my mate called him the sandwich bite one day and it's all I think about now whenever I hear his name haha

I'm all in with trying to get pick 5 off GC if they get it.

Lonie and bruce to pies for 18

18 and 39 to syd for hanners and 26 (assuming we can't just get him for 39 and keep 18)

2019 1st and newnes / savage for 5

Out - bruce, lonie, newnes & 18
In- hanners, pick 5 and 26

Go to the draft and get king and rankine / smith

That's the dream.
Think 18 would need to go to GC instead tho.

but will cost two 1st rnd picks, plays in a position we have covered, cost to benefit ratio isn't there for us atm.
I think pick 4 would get it done.. The guy is Awesome when going well.. and still young enough, he can play midfield has proven he can have really good games in there. I would’ve preferred Shiel but gee wiz Wingard is a great second prize.

Like I said, gets the big decisions right .
2001 hodge and Mitchell compared to ball and Clarke if you want to go with depressing examples.
They go to the mcg we go to Telstra dome and are rimmed
They buy Waverley for #1 we go to Seaford
All big picture stuff and left for someone else to clean up.
We are the junkie girl friend who keeps promises she will change but never does
The dress and attire might change on the outside, but essentially broken on the inside .
And while I am it Gallagher go get F. Ed.soft **** limp wrist Ed sissy who doesn’t like negotiation or conflict .Hope he has some money behind him because he won’t get another job after he leaves us .
I will see myself out .At 50 I have had enough, I am finished .
5 years now from the last rebuild and failed again .

Why do people only ever go on about the fails from drafts ? Why not look when we got Riewoldt and Kosi , or the great get in Milne , Hayes etc . It hasn’t been all doom and gloom. Most drafts are just guesses by people with experience at doing it but there is no way of knowing who picks the right players until years go by . For example, how many clubs could have picked Buddy Franklin but didn’t . The list is endless of champions who could have been drafted by lots of other clubs .

I hope you don’t give up on the Saints . Yes we had a bad year but the last couple years have been encouraging, who knows what next year might bring . Keep the faith Saints fans , we need you .

Also in 2001 when Hodge and Mitchell were taken , we got Ball and Clarke . At the time we thought we did well . Unfortunately the Saints injury curse struck and Clarke never had the chance to show his best , and Ball looked like a champ until he got the dreaded groin problems. It’s only in hindsight that we can say we didn’t pick the right players . At the time they were great picks.

I can’t believe we’re not trying to get Wingard.. A grade talent

I don’t think he has been A grade over the last 2 years but he was before that . Don’t think he would add much to us imo.

The kid is tracking as well as his brother at the same age and he is the 2nd best runner in the team / at this stage to early to call how good he will be.
At least he played a few games this year and picking up 24 touches on debut which is pretty good

not bad for a 20yr old kid who only played 7 games and this kid was picked up at pick 56

Gotta agree with Joffa on this one. I've posted my views about Phillips in the past. Can't kick over a jam tin. Iron hands under pressure. Always late to the contest. Jarryn Geary lovechild except Gears has great hands.

Plzzzzzzz get pick 18 and pray RCD slides. For me he is the outside shout to become the goat out of this draft. Physically built to play round one and is s brute of a player. Needs to work on accumulation but he is the modern day midfielder that I wanted acres to be(and still think he can be if played right).

Gees you blokes are hard on some of these kids. He has played a hand full of games and some (like myself) believe he looks to have a future. He can improve his kicking but the rest of his game is what you would expect from a 1st year player. Give him time and I think he will be one that proves the doubters wrong.

Herald sun reporting that Adelaide could be involved in the Hogan deal to get a top 6 pick, which rules us out of the equation to trade 4 for multiple picks - good.

It’s along the lines of Freo send pick 6 to Adelaide for 16 & 21 & bundle up 16 with pick 5 (from Bris for Neal) for Hogan. Then 21 to GWS for Lobb.
It doesn't necessarily rule us out for a downgrading of picks, and could in fact make it more likely that we could downgrade, as downgrading to pick 6 would be a lot more appealing than downgrading to 8.

It's not as though Adelaide have to stop moving up at 6. It could just be a stepping stone to 4, or 3.

I’m with you , give him every chance . I’ve liked what I have seen so far.

do what I do mate, read only the last 2 pages once a day, most likely what you are reading has been said 50 times, quoted 75 and refuted 80.

after the last few years of trying to keep up I've gone all ECO on trade week, lots a talk, **** all action
Yeah that might have to be the way I'll go, although I do already skip through plenty of posts, including pretty much all long ones.

50 pages a day is getting a bit out of hand tho! :D

Has there been anymore news on Wingard? His back half of the year statistically was pretty good...

From round 12 onwards averages.
Dis - 24
Goals - 0.9
Behinds - 0.5
Tackles - 5.1
Inside 50s - 5.2
Clearances - 4.9 (Stuv was our best at 5.5, Hickey second best with 4.5)
Contested Possessions - 12.8
1% - 1.3
Yeah we could do a hell of a lot worse than him, if he was happy or even better keen to play mostly midfield, as those numbers show he can clearly play there.

His averages from a midfield perspective also look even better if you take out his stats from rounds 20 and 21, where it looks like he played mostly forward again (only had the 2 clearances in total for the 2 games, kicked 5 goals, and had less than 20 disposals in each, so almost certainly played mainly forward in those two).

Take out those two games and for the last 10 where it looks like he played mostly midfield his clearances per game rose to 5.5, his disposals to 25.5 and his CP's to a very, very good 13.8 per game.

Based on those figures he could come in and be no.1 for us for contested ball and clearances- if played mainly midfield all year- areas we were ranked 16th and 18th respectively this year.

He came 6th in their B&F this year, and most of those votes presumably came from R12 onwards, so it looks like he was playing some pretty high quality midfield footy.

Probably a similar standard to what Shiel generally produces, and we were willing to pay him $1.3mil a year, on a long term deal, in spite of him having bung shoulders and being much less versatile than Chad.

I'd be loathe to part with pick 4 for him, but not really any more than I was for Shiel.

Commitment and so-on has to be a query tho, from what you hear. Richo and Lade would know all about that tho. There were similar ? about Carlisle and that's working out OK for us.

I just find it slightly odd Wingard is on the market. Is it because he thinks (or his Manager thinks) he's worth a lot more money? Or there is some problem with him? He can be a gun, but can also have his quiet games. Seems there might be more to this....

Edit......Just had a quick scan of the Port board. Not happy in there. Seems Wingard doesn't train hard enough and his attitude is criticised by the club. They probably sent him off to look around to shake him up. But the Port fans don't want to lose him. Two high First Round picks I don't think is going to happen. Hawks the tip, but how are they going to do that? Intriguing.

I find it highly odd, but according to Hinkley they're super-keen to hit this draft hard, and the talk is also that Chad put a big number on his head for his next contract and Port don't think he warrants that much money, so they told him to explore his options and get back to them if he thinks he's going to want out- either this year, or perhaps more importantly, next year, when he's eligible for FA.

According to a Tredrea tweet they paid the 2nd least amount of the cap of any team in the comp this year tho, so you wouldn't think they'd necessarily want to lose his contract, on top of those of Polec and Pittard, as they may struggle to meet the minimum next year!

Trying to shake him and his manager up I guess. And potentially improve his attitude. Lade would know all about it I'm sure.

If we thought our fans weren't happy, a trip into Port country is an eye opener.
