Geelong 9 home games at Kardinia Park, what a joke. They should get 3 maximum. This easy draw will mean Geelong will finish 7th or 8th again, meaning a club that deserves finals will miss out.Geelong then get smashed in the first final for the 4th year in a row.Absolute BS.

Imagine the AFL allowing us to play our home games at our home ground, at least we dont get smashed on our home ground when it counts;)

Just read some head muppet at AFL House saying they had unashamedly backed Essendon in for next season. Everything that is wrong with the AFL in a microcosm there.

Every year they try to pick winners via fixture and fail and they never learn. Spread the games evenly, double up slots for 2018 top 8 teams - it's pretty simple.

Not that simple. The AFL is a commercial beast. Essendon has one of the biggest and strongest supporter bases in the country. They did fairly well this year without a forward line for the past handful of games. If the 'big' clubs look anything like a chance, the AFL will want to back them in as it makes commercial sense for them. Like it or leave it.

But we do only get a home ground advantage once in the first 16 rounds.

Agreed, it's so wrong right and the poor old tigers only get to play a miserly 13 games at home and if that's no bad enough the pies get well and truly stiffed by only getting 14 games at the G...oh the injustice

K Bartlett cheering about the draw. Says AFL has virtually handed the Tiges a premiership. First time I've ever agreed with him.

13. But we do only get a home ground advantage once in the first 16 rounds.

Just goes to show how any statistic can be made look like a disadvantage to a football club.

How many frequent flyer points to the Tigers get after round 16?

hahaha what a load of shit, our fixture isnt even easy let alone "handing us the premiership"

But couldn’t you make that argument for every club with a home ground advantage? I don’t understand why people have an issue with Geelong in particular for this case.

Besides, Geelong won the first final in 2016 so it wasn’t four years in a row. Only 2

None. But you knew that already. I was just pointing out that "13 matches at the MCG" means **** all if those matches are against Collingwood/Melbourne Ect.

Anyway, Richmond travel 5 times for the year, and get 5 matches with a home ground advantage. Which is par for MCG tennants.

Collingwood are travel 5 times, but only host 3 non-vic teams at the G.

You finished 1st in the Home and Away season and you got the 5th easiest draw...Pretty sure it is easy.

5th easiest as ranked by CD who used POINT DIFFERENTIAL as their ranking system and therefore had Geelong as a top 4 side?

Yeh real accurate hahahahahaha

Through the fact that Collingwood have done it once from 1997 until now. Collingwood travel less than any other club, that is a fact, and the fact of the matter is that other strong clubs like Essendon do it regularly. It's not bitterness, it's a fact. Collingwood get incredibly looked after every year, unsure why Collingwood fans protest this. When was the last time Collingwood had 6 interstate games?
Who's protesting?
If you want your club to be 'looked after' as you put it, then maybe make contact with them and ask them to advocate on your behalf.

Complaining about it on a forum = bitterness.
Doing something about it = constructive.
Yeah I can't see how that's the case at all, we have the biggest supporter base in the country so how exactly does giving lower ranked clubs with a smaller fan base equate to better ratings?
Oh wow, you don't even understand the basics of population.

I would have liked to have known about the measly 3 Crows game in Melbourne (1 MCG / 2 Docklands) before my Victorian Membership auto-renewed last week

It has never counted for Kardinia Park and I'm gonna take a wild guess that Eureka Stadium in Ballarat is the same

1 game at the MCG, after the AFL mentioned giving Non-Vic teams more access, meanwhile Richmond get their final 5 games in a row before finals there

What . A . ****ing . Joke

I hate to state the obvious but the AFL's biggest market is Melbourne, of course WCE aren't going to get a flood of primetime fixtures when it takes away from ratings and dare I say interested in the better-populated cities.

It doesn't take away from ratings. Melbourne people are just like the rest of us - when our team isn't playing we just want to watch a good game, which is borne out in the ratings. 2 Melbourne teams, if anything, reduces ratings.
In 2017 the highest rating Friday night game was Adelaide v Sydney.

Supporter base really has nothing to do with it. The AFL is most widely watched in Melbourne. Unfortunately a lot of AFL fans in Melbourne have no interest in the interstate clubs and switch off when an interstate club is playing. This would lead to lower ratings.

Don't know why so many Dees fans are upset with our draw. Was always going to be somewhat tougher when we made it to the final 4. Gotta beat the best to be the best. Stoked that we have 9 blockbuster night games and only like 5 sunday games I believe? Up the Dees!

Thanks - I thought this was exceedingly obvious (whether it's the right thing for 7 to do or not), but I guess I did need to explain it.

It's that simple.
I remember when all pies fans thought they were invincible 10/11. Majority spoke just like tigers fans of recent times, however the reality was quite different. However i have a feeling next year regardless of the fixture, both the tigers and the pies, will be clear front runners. Who knows with a little luck a GF match up will settle a few things.
