I rewatched the preliminary final last night.

Does anyone know what our pressure rating was like in the third quarter?

To the eye it looked like it was off the charts, like we’d win most games if we played like that for 4 quarters, you can’t play like that for 4 quarters but if we could do it for more than 1 quarter you’d have to think we were a fair chance.

Don't disagree that its a campaigner of a move, but is it an illegal move?

we can't be warning blokes or paying free kicks because we morally don't like it unfortunately.

either its an illegal action or it's not I reckon is the only way to go.
Of course it's an illegal move, in the same way that flooring a player with a 'legal' bump off the ball is.

I can't think of a rationale where it can be considered a legal move.

I love how all the media are talking about the spirit of the game and to protect Whitfield.
What about that grub Greene? He is the worst offender but somehow our players are being lectured to
by the do-gooders and to play within the spirt of the game FFS this is really pissing me off.
If they haven't noticed that we are a fair team and always play with integrity then who the heck have they
been watching over the past 3 years. Is Razor going to come down hard on Greene and Mumford??? I highly doubt it.

you just know if we win oppos will either say they played injured players like conigs/Davis so the win doesn't count or they replaced injured players with depth if they don't play conigs etc so the win doesn't count either. in summary if we win will be the worst flag of all time like ours in 2017

Who cares???

When have we ever worried about what the oppo supporters think!?!?

I’m happy to take the win........and blithely move on in life.

is it though?

where is it written that its an illegal move?

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying players should do it, but where does it say in the rule book that those actions are illegal?

The only place it falls under is the unnecessary contact but this is also exactly why it is a stupid rule that is flawed.

Because where do you draw the line? Players play injured every game. Some goes out there with shoulder strapping to start the game, is he immune from being bumped and niggled? because that would be deemed unnecessary.

they need to be very careful how they play this rule as it isn't clear cut at all.

Seriously some oppos shouldn’t be allowed to follow football , they have NFI .

Neither should those who take the views of one random knob fan and turn it into the basis of an argument that 'they're all saying it's the wort 11-gamne winning streak'.
There are two - or three at best - raising the idea of playing Townsend.
Is that representatives of all Tiger fans?
People need to get a grip and ignore the views of random morons and turning it into the so-called overlying view.

I agree with this, but it wasn’t bumping or tackling that made the umpire make that call. There were a couple of instances on the TV in the lead up to it which was just the campaigner pulling and twisting his arm. To me that’s a campaigner of a move and reeks of Chris Scott.

I think it was on the softer side of the grey area, but it could easily have got out of hand if you let the bloke get away with it.

Brave call from ump to call it IMO. Think it’s about. 55/45 right call in this case, so it’s a pass ;)
Players can't retaliate so it was good umpiring to step in early.

Should be a great game, GWS will likely be overtly physical again which adds an exciting dimension to the game, I think it's the right attitude from them and has given them the extra confidence to break through to their first Granny.

Hard to see how we will go, we keep having poor first halves only to run over the top of some pretty good teams, I'll say for the 5th game in a row we can't do it again this week....but we probably will. Hard to imagine why we do it, maybe too much focus on having fun, or players getting complacent, hopefully we get the balance right and can go hard for 4 qtrs. Of course there's also a possibility that everything is going to click and we win by 100pts against an interstate team overawed by the experience, Lynchwvolt kick 12 between them, our mids dominate and the backs stop everything...hopefully.

No idea who to bring in, Macca and Ross deserve any openings after being rested from the 2's, but imagine the fairytale of bringing Marlion in for his first game and having him dominate, would be a bold decision for the ages.

Either way win or lose, it's been another fantastic season and I'm already satisfied being able to experience another grand Final week, I hope we win purely for the diehard fans and the club itself, they deserves a second flag in this window, especially after what it has endured and overcome this year.

Unfortunately, most of the rules in AFL are like this. It's one that requires common sense application, I have no problem with how it has been played so far.

It makes a lot more sense than the crackdown on shirtfronting where they gave players weeks for actions that had zero affect on anything.

Just looked up player stats and saw Jack Ross is listed at 187 cm and 85kg. That makes him bigger than Fridge. I had the mistaken idea that it was the other way around. Can't wait to see who gets the gig but selection seems to be fair but uncompromising, which is how it should be. Seriously hope Broad gets up. The back six don't need any disruption now while it's arguable that we can cover Jack G's loss a bit easier. If this doesn't motivate the troops to be ruthless on Saturday I don't know what will.
It also makes him bigger than Pickett - which is surprising. My only concern with Ross is that I'm not sure about his form since returning from injury. He had a good game against Carlton but was down in his last game against W/C (11 disposals and one tackle). Not sure about his VFL form (doesn't help of course that he was rested last week).

I can't believe that some people are suggest we bring in Kmac, who's never played in the guts and who's form in the VFL has been underwhelming. I agree with what some have said about Townsend. Love him, but he's never fired a shot in the guts.
