Been in QLD 5 years. Lions member for 4 years

1st year as a co-player sponsor (with one of my mates from work who is a full-on Lions supporter)

1st year as a Junior Umpire co-ordinator (for 2 junior clubs)

I just love my footy and more than happy to follow the locals (except when they play the Bombers)

Had the chance to see a few closed sessions, functions and a TRAIN WITH THE LIONS experience in the past 4 years.

Great fun at the Players Sponsors night last night.

A couple of hours with a few drinks and mingling with the boys.

Got a picture with my fave player and my man love crush #6 "The Suitcase" Hugh McCluggage (we talked a lot about Ballarat upbringing)

And Cedric and Charlie were heaps laid back, casual and lovely to talk to.

Hodgey is a deadset legend and a class act. He like me is loving QLD weather (it was 0 or -1 in Colac for a few nights last week)

And had a lovely talk and time with Zac Bailey (who I co-sponsor) - we both had similar country upbringings and a lot in common.

Hopefully Zac's back in the 1's this week for this Sunday's game!

Na........ RED AND BLACK since birth.

But in the 5 years since i moved to Brisbane she's been bloody wonderful to me.

My family are all down south and i relish the friendships and support network i have up here.

I love it here and love going to the Gabba and watching and being part of the Lions and being involved in local footy.

My good mate is also a Essendon fan since birth, then moved up here. Similar to you, he's adopted the Lions as a second team of sorts and particularly enjoys watching other Victorian teams come north and lose.

I only get to 3 or 4 games a year so try to see different teams each year (winnable ones a priority).

Mine wears all the Lions' gear except when the Bombers fly in then he breaks out the red sash and cheers for them.

My mate just upgraded his membership to a September membership, so you'd think there'd no doubt be a surge of them + 3 game memberships.

We've been considering upgrading to september membership the last month or so and will likely do it soon.

September member guarantees access to purchase a GF ticket if we participate.

No disrespect to those taking up the offer now as it’s $ to the club, but as a member who has basically donated $40 a year for the past 15 years for SM it does kind of piss me off that anyone can jump on board now. That said, key word is ‘access’ - so not sure that means every September member - if 27,000 were September members not all would get a ticket with allocation numbers?

Pretty sure there's a cap on SeptMem, to ensure it's lower than any forecast ticket allocation. Lions_Insider ?

I’d be quite unhappy though, if the time was to come, if I missed out on one when someone signs up for a year and they got one. There would have to be some sort of hierarchy? Like other clubs have (e.g level of membership).

That issue has been a bugbear of mine for years...

The two participating clubs should get 80% of tickets (40% each) 20% to sponsors etc imo

Surely those who’ve had it longest would be offered it first than anyone who has just added it within the last 12 months.

IIRC when I first took up my September Member Membership many years ago the club was only going to sell as many SMMs as tickets that would be available to us to the Grand Final.

In other words if you are a September Member you are guaranteed a GF ticket.

There's no way we'd go over the allocated grand final ticket amounts if we make it given the size of our membership. I'm sure Lions_Insider would be happy to clarify this.
