Guys, just be careful you don't overreact to JLT.

Reading through the posts on here, my side featuring Macrae, Merrett, Grundy & Gawn is starting to feel quite unique!
Yeah exactly this. Fair chance im going to hit clear team and try to pick it again with who I had gut feels with pre JLT. That said.. JLT did show us Rocky.. think I’d be prepared to take a risk on him over Taranto. Would be nice to have both. Think the only thing JLT is good for is confirming picks with points up again TOG etc, not really unearthing new ones. A midfield of Crouch Treloar Zerrett is looking very unique..

I keep looking at my team and for some reason boom man Angus Brayshaw is the one that I keep fretting about... Awesome last year, awesome during JLT, yet I just worry that he has become so damaging (even more so spreading now from the 666 formation) that he surely becomes the main Melbourne target for a tag. I love picking the non-flashy Brad Crouch types (already got him btw) who won't get a tag in a million years, and whenever I have a player that is being hyped up it just makes me nervous. Am I jumping at shadows over-thinking this?
Yeah don’t think it’s worth the risk anymore with the hype train steaming on. No ones picking guys like Treloar and MCrouch who are a solid chance to be mids 2 and 3 at the end of the season.

With the out of Kruezer, I need to do a few major changes unless I can find an extra $300k behind the couch

1. Grundy, MacRae, Jacobs
2. Gawn, Witts, Coniglio

Option 1 is leading ATM

What does a decent score look like in round 1? Can't recall R1 2018

This was my score from Round 1 last year (found it in the archives haha)

2247 and made the top 1000, best start ever. Didn't have Buddy though, he was just incredible

From what I saw, the high point was around 2250-2300+ and the low was around 1950-2000. Don't see it being as high this year given that there's no Titch and not as many good rooks, but I'd be aiming for something over 2000 or so

He is in my team currently. I think most people are worried about his interrupted preseason and may not have noticed his PPM.
PPM wasn't that great, still would have only scored 90 odd in JLT2 if he played his normal time on ground.

JLT1 was a woeful performance equivalent of about 30 even when you take into account the limited game time.

Does burning 2 trades to eventually get a top 2 ruck worry you or does the extra cash spent elsewhere off the bat outweigh it?
I'm definitely not against this strategy and have considered it myself. I just see it as risky with selection, injuries etc.

Nah not in the least. My thought process is based around not actually wanting a second keeper, as it means that I can make quick cash off the R2 and spend far less when I want to get to the keeper I want. The extra cash spent elsewhere absolutely outweighs it. Means my bench is beyond solid, my midfield runs really deep and so does my forward line.

The extra 2 trades is a bit of a fallacy, given that the first trade to Mummy will be in Round 3, and that first 4-5 weeks is just shoring up rooks/injuries/premos & midpricers you might not be completely sold on. Means that I'll be just using one trade later on in the season, when I've decided who the top ruck is (will most likely be Grundy, but won't have to pay the exorbitant amount for him)

What if Kreuzer comes in for round 2 at the expense of Phillips ?

Can't see that happening, given that Kreuzer has had literally no pre-season, and still isn't even completely fit now. Meaning that he'll likely have to play more than 1 VFL game to get to the fitness level needed to play AFL (especially with his injury history).

If on the off chance that it does, I have a contingency plan in place, but I'll decide whether that's necessary or not before Round 1. Could be a case that I just leave enough cash in the bank to get to someone I can use for a round, then get Mummy. Doubt that'll happen, but given the early rounds are just used to fix up injuries and rooks and the like, it's not too big a deal

love some feedback on my team. It's pretty settled.

Backs: Laird, Whitfield, B.Smith, Z.Williams, Scrimshaw, Duursma (rook rook)

Centres: Coniglio, Brayshaw, Taranto, B.Couch, Libba, Cousins, S.Walsh, Constable (rook rook)

Rucks: Grundy, Gawn

Fwds: Danger, T.Kelly, Heeney, Worpel, Setterfield, W.Drew (rook rook)

*Went with a weaker midfield because I couldn't stand having a Parker or a Burgess on my field in the fwd line. And I'm big on Taranto this year so he is my only non-negotiable. I'm unsure on Cousins. No-one here seems to confidently predict his avg, even hawks fans

Mate it’s a very very nice side. I think 3 rookies on field in the Midfield is fine as that’s where the good ones are

Cousins I see anywhere from 65-80

Think I've settled on this, thoughts??

Lloyd Whitfield Smith
Williams Clark Scrimshaw

Mcrae Brayshaw Rocky Sheed
Crouch Libba Walsh Scott/rookie

Grundy Gawn

Dangerfield Dunkley Worpel
Higgins Setterfield Drew
