There isnt a dislike button so i will write Dislike. TOB came of age this year up forward and i finally saw what Dermie has been saying about him. Not back to defence. Not, no, never.
I could say he was Peter Knights like, but that would not just be putting on some mayo, that would be a slab of it. But.....
There actually is a dislike button

With the amount of work Gunston does he could easily run a wing & get 25+ touches a game.

I don’t see Gunston in the forward line next year in a permanent role.
His versatility has probably cost him that comfort.

Older players are expected to be mr fixits in clarkos teams. Probably why sewell retired early

Won't be tomorrow deal done in principle but waiting on other things to fall I'm told
We usually hold off on completing trades as we use a lot of later round pick swaps

Usually when people say a forward line is "too tall" what they really mean is it's "too slow and not good at ground level".

The Buddy, Roughy, Hale and Gunston combination all in the one forward line worked so well because 3/4 of those guys were very mobile and just as good when the ball hit the ground as when it was in the air.

The Patton, Lewis, O'Brien and Gunston combination isn't at the same level as the above combined four, but it's still a pretty quick and agile tall forward line. Patton is the only one I'd be really concerned about when the ball hits the ground.

All four need not have to be in the forward line at the same time anyway. Gunston and O'Brien can swing back and up on the wings. Lewis is very mobile and with all the weight Patton has lost I'm sure he'll be far more mobile than he's ever been.

Nash was amongst the best KPF height guys at getting the ground ball too.

Patton = Hale
O'Brien = Roughy
Gunston = Gunston
Lewis = Buddy
Nash = Cyril ;)

Wright has said Clarko wants 3 talls again in our forward line (ala Rough Frank and Hale). So he sees Patton fitting in nicely with Mitch Lewis and TOB.
Thats fine, but makes me wonder where he sees Gunna playing and will Irish get a game?
Obviously both Gunstan and Nash can play forward if any of the other 3 are injured, bujt cant have them all in the forward line, and id hate to see TOB go back again after he showed us what he could do as a high flying marking forward.

The beauty of Nash is that, whilst he's 7 1/2 feet tall, he also runs a hundred meters in 5 seconds.
So he doesn't really play as a tall, although his high marking will continue to be more effective with more games under his belt.

Felt like I was forgetting someone! I've seen some AFL articles mention Nash as being a key forward. He's got the height but everything else about his game screams small, pressure forward. While he's not the quality of Cyril (not that you were suggesting that) he's certainly closer to Cyril than he is to a KPF.

Patton could potentially transform our forward line into one of the most dangerous in the league. He frees up Lewis to roam higher and not get double teamed. He allows Gunston and O'Brien to be matched up against less capable tall defenders than they were in 2019. And Nash is potentially going to be the biggest beneficiary because what team has a defender with the height, strength, speed and agility to go with Nash that wouldn't already be preoccupied with defending one of the other 4 talls?

Just need to hope Patton can stay fit and play 20+ games.
