Do we get pick 1 in the mid-season draft? If so, Baldwin would be my likely target.
The AFL has said that clubs will just be able to sign players. If there's a clash, then it's sorted by ladder order. They haven't stated whether that's 2020 ladder order, or the ladder order at the time of the draft.

I suspect that most clubs, including Adelaide, will be looking at the Victorian players rather than SA players. The SA kids had a reasonable number of games in which to expose their form this year. Those who missed out (including Baldwin) did so on merit - they simply weren't good enough to be drafted. The Victorian kids didn't play a single game (other than the few selected to play the All-Stars game). Recruiters will be watching them closely, to see what (if any) improvement has occurred since last they saw them.

Isn't mid season draft order based on the positions on the ladder at the time?
Probably, but the AFL weren't at all clear when they explained it in their media release.

... it's almost as if they employ someone specifically for the purpose of writing their media releases so badly that everything remains as ambiguous as possible.

If he didn’t hurt his knee in preseason would have been a top 20 pick. Depending on his his rehab, this who I would target.

Fair enough... that's your opinion, and you're welcome to it.

I just think that the SA & WA kids have had all of the exposure they required to make their cases for selection, and those who didn't make the cut simply weren't good enough. The Victorian kids didn't have the exposure, and were often avoided due to the perceived risk of selecting an unknown. They will come under much closer scrutiny next year, and clubs will be eager to sign those who show qualities that they were unable to demonstrate in 2020.

It looked a bit like it, but gee they got very little back for their 2021 1st rounder. Should have got much greater return for that pick.
To them that pick was pretty much useless and the other teams knew it. They would have had to use it on Daicos. You could argue they could have heldon to it for a year and then see if they can move it for a future 1st but it was also not going to get a whole heap of traction as the other clubs would know predicament that Collingwood is in and the offers would have been pretty much the same.

that logic doesn’t hold up for Baldwin though. Has less recent exposed form than many of the victorians left on the board.

nah, clubs have consistently shown they will over pay on points to move up the order. If the pies, they could got a bidding war for it.

He's also had 2x knee injuries, one to each knee, which makes him a high risk proposition.
We were never taking Baldwin after Hamish referencing him when interviewed. I took from that he thought it unlikely he'd be drafted until he'd proven to recruiters he was good to go by SANFL performances. We won't be looking at him until that happens.

Can we get the thread titled updated to reflect what really happened? ie correct pick #s?

I wanted Hollands last night, but completely on board with Thilthorpe. He seems like a super person from all reports ... He loves the contest, using his power. We are going to love the big fella!!

Pedlar seems like great get. A hard nut that had comparisons to Toby Green? Yes please.

The rest are all complete unknowns too me in terms of their standout qualities. Look forward to seeing them play so I can get to know them.

One thing that was very clear ... The highlights packages they played after each pick showed the lack of quality vision going around for this year's crop. Most of the highlights were anything but!! Hell, even the Hollands package showed him missing kicks, a shot at goal from 50m that feel way short ... Was weird.

Playing in the worst team while injured.
He couldn't even attend the combine.
Have you ever heard the saying "big men take more time"?
He was playing in the seniors, and picking some teams apart, as a 17yo last year.

The upside is massive.
Ken McGregor did similar

Obsession.
You know for it to mean something there has to be some semblance of truth to it or you clearly don't understand the meaning of the word.

Your third post after the draft revolved around Port, on a night where we secured 7 players. if you don't think you have an obsession with Port I don't know what to tell you.

McGregor was a 201cm 100kg forward?
Or does McGregor have nothing to do with RT?

He has injured one knee, and then reinjured the repaired ligament during a training game this year.

It wasn't a full repair, fwiw. They just maybe rushed him slightly.

Seriously ****ing give it up. Even I couldn't tell you what number post it was and yet I'm the obsessed one?? It's kind of creepy that you did. LOL If you don't think you have an obsession with being some kind of internet police then I don't know what to tell you.

Par for the course for this board post any AFL event is for the fawning over how much better than the Crows Port do everything...which is absolute and thorough bullshit. My pre-emptive post comes from that, and I don't give a flying **** what you or any other numpty posting here thinks about that.
