We are in a dire position if we are lamenting missing out on Preuss. I can't believe people think we was the answer. We would be better off trucking with Allir every day of the week vs Preuss, even McLean is a better option. A banged-up Sinclair has more grit and drive than Preuss. Pruess is soft. For a big fella he does not know how to use what he has got. Couldn't cut it at Rugby and won't be anything special....From what I gather people just want someone to pick Sydney as a destination regardless of their ability to actually improve us.

I hope we were never that keen on him.

And not one of them are genuine ruckman. That is what we need. Forget the notion of people wanting someone to choose us as a destination. Unless its a gun who really gives a toss.

Correct weight.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it.
I totally disagree with it and feel that our midfield desperately needs a good tap ruckman, which I believe Preuss is

Swans seemed to cool on Pruess. They were interested and at the end, it seemed Pruess was choosing between Hawks and GWS,
Do the Swans simply not rate him enough to be number 1 ruck for the next 5 years?
Is there another young ruck out there that we are targeting?
Do the Swans highly rate one of the two 20yo academy rucks and simply looking for a 2 year stop gap while they develop?
Is Naismith ????? gone? good for late 2021-2023?

All of the above plus the price point obviously

Lets be real look at our situation its highly unlikely we cooled on him considering we are still chasing Tom Hickey.

Preuss like many others knocked us back, Naismith will never play another game and should honestly retire it really is baffling how we manage to get in this situation with just Sinclair as our main ruck we recruit Knoll but he doesnt play a game, we trade away Cameron who played 11 games for a top 8 side.

I wouldn't say we are actively chasing Hickey, it's more his our backup choice (and that's fair enough if we struggle to bring in someone younger).

If both Sydney and GWS were offering the same wage you would be picking GWS currently due to their premiership window, it's to be expected. In two to three years time this will likely flip around.

I imagine we will find a 22-24 year old developing ruckman and give them a chance. If not, it's not all doom and gloom.

Yer its just frustrating situation year after year and then have to chuck Allir or Reid in there for relief while a battered Sinclair takes a breather.

We've almost created our ruck issue through letting players like Nankervis and Cameron walk. They weren't world beaters but they'd be super handy about now. The club bet way too much on Naismith and left too much for Sinclair to carry. I'd be interested to know what the thinking was.

Nankervis struggles to win a hit out at the best of times. Cameron also hasn't been a world beater at the Pies.

I can see why we let both go, but do agree we need to address the ruck this year.

If Naismith was a basket, he'd be containing all our eggs.

I said they weren't world beaters so it's not like we let All Australians rucks just walk away. I get why they weren't required at the time. But with the benefit of hindsight Naismith has been a liability and the other rucks in development have been a bust. Sinclair has done all we could have asked of him but there's a gaping hole now that even an average player like Nankervis or Cameron could easily fill.

Right now we just need a ruck that can compete in a tap contest or at least negate the opposition ruck's dominance.

Nankervis always wanted to return and Naismith was clearly the better ruckman. Still is.

Darcy Cameron was behind Naismith and Sinclair in 2019 and when both went down, he went down too. Both were expected to be up again for this season and Cameron didn't want to continue to be third choice. So he sought a trade.

Too many of these regrets seem to imply injuries were predictable (or at least more so than usual). You can't carry 5 top line ruckmen because a couple might get injured at the same time. List management doesn't (and can't) work that way.
