Just need to offer a clearly better deal to theOr they could just say. Take the deal and we don’t bid on him, ignore the deal and we do
Can they offer a player of need though?Pick 14 is going to be hard to get now. Adelaide can afford to offer much more than us.
Eh? We aren't offering players either? It's about points..Can they offer a player of need though?
If you're going to lose a player you'd want it to be before the pre-season training has even started because you get the opportunity to organise for him not being there. Scrimshaw can play the Sicily role effectively enough.
Sometimes losing an important player can be a circuit breaker for teams, and allows them to do things they wouldn't have done otherwise. Rance was arguably Richmond's most important player before he got injured, they've won 2 premierships since. Similar could be said about Naitanui for West Coast. We lost Buddy to a trade and won 2 after, Adelaide lost Dangerfield and made a Grand Final.
Recent history has a lot of examples where clubs have played better football in spite of losing important players.
Mcguire plays him on an absolute break on triple m , more frighteningly so does Darcy .fu**in Tom Browne. What a plonker.
You are right... As a minimum..We need to trade 21 to upgrade it, or trade it on a young player in the Scrimshaw mould
Then use our picks in the 40’s to match a Downie bid
Not us in 2019.
Who though? We may be looking for someone on the cheap but who are some small forwards that are available and cheap that are worth getting?I can’t believe we’re not in the market for a small forward and we still haven’t been linked to anyone yet. Is Graham Wright not aware that Rioli and Puopolo have now retired and Breust is nearly 30? There’s nothing left in the reserves. Hanrahan is not the answer.
Start building the forward-line around Lewis.
Geez, you're right- I reckon someone should @ him somehow!I can’t believe we’re not in the market for a small forward and we still haven’t been linked to anyone yet. I still like Lewis but you can not build around someone who yet to prove he can lead the forward line going forward. 2021 will be huge for him.
i get that and i don't think anyone at the club is unaware that we need more firepower up forward it is just hard to find, especially without giving up assets. Stephenson is the one i think we need. His pressure is not great but that can hopefully be addressed with more fitness. What we need is scoring threats and Stepho is 100% that.I don’t know. We have no speed in the forward-half of ground and no pressure applied when the ball hits the ground which used to be a trademark. That was what Rioli and Puopolo were able to do for nearly a decade. The value of having quality small forwards shouldn’t be underestimated. Look at how much our scoring has dropped since mid June 2018 when Rioli retired.

We're not very good at this player acquisition thing these days
Do they have a salary cap??
To be fair if we wanted treloar we would get him. I take it at this current moment we have no interest in getting himWe're not very good at this player acquisition thing these days
Geelong and Saints are going down the Collingwood path - keep back ending contracts waiting for a salary cap increase that may never comeDo they have a salary cap??
Lethlean said it was very unlikely he will be a saint.Do they have a salary cap??
To be the team that benefits from it, watching Collingwood burn doesn’t help us in anyway, they need those players gone and they are of use. I want to see us try to bend them over and get any of these guys cheap.I am kinda hoping all clubs stay away from Treloar, Phillips, Cox and Stevenson and others. It would be very very interesting if the pies were not able to move on any of these contracts and the fall out from that with the tight cap situation. They are clearly desperate to get cap space. Why help them get out of situation they put themselves in.
