This presumably sets us up for:
Round 9 - Essendon
Round 10 - Collingwood/Geelong
Round 11 - Collingwood/Geelong

That’s a good bunch of teams to draw on short turn arounds at Adelaide Oval.

Leaves us with the following teams on the run home:
- Richmond (6th)
- Bulldogs (12th)
- Hawthorn (13th)
- Melbourne (15th)
- North Melbourne (16th)
- Sydney (17th)

No excuses for missing the top 4 this year.

Let us not get too carried away.

The ominous thing is that the AFL appears to be programming one round at a time. This is the AFL and they may keep doing it one round at a time until there is a chance that AFL footy can resume in Victoria.

It is great that we have a game at Adelaide, only our second for the season, but I will believe another six or seven games in Adelaide when I see it in a fixture list with rounds 9-17 mapped out.

Reckon the NSW teams and The couple of Vic teams in NSW will be hubbed in QLD pretty soon. Actually probably ASAP.

I think they are going to have to hub a few more teams in WA and possibly SA because I think Metricon and the GABBA will soon start to struggle with the amount of games getting played on them.

The thing that I feel weird about - is the Aussie Underdog mentality. While we are ladder leaders, the AFL round by round fixturing could quite easily schedule us in form teams away. They love an equal competition, and it will be unconscious bias via Aussie Underdog mentality.

Who you play when and where have a big impact on this season. We could easily get bottom 6 teams at Adelaide oval and contenders away (at neutral or not grounds). The timing also plays a part - watch us get the Tigers in R16-17 when they get their shite together and Essendon and Geelong in the next Few weeks.

Was discussed in the first few minutes of the show last night.

- Hawthorn and Carlton headed to Perth at the end of their round 8 games
- Melbourne vs Brisbane game (R8) moved from Sydney to Metricon
- GWS and Sydney clubs likely to be relocated to Queensland

My guess for Round 9 hubs:

Gold Coast, Brisbane, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Richmond, GWS and Sydney are based in Queensland.
Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton, Melbourne, West Coast and Freo in Perth.
Port, Adelaide, Saint Kilda, Essendon in Adelaide

There has been talk of a Essendon Richmond game in the NT, could be Round 10.

Yeah Metricon in particular looked pretty chopped up after the two games on Sunday.

Not necessarily. I think if you see more clubs hubbed in Perth/Adelaide, the Vic clubs will have home games in those cities.

You can't come play in Perth without 2 weeks quarantine - and that won't change for rest of the season. That, the distance and the fact that Brisbane have already played both WA clubs makes it impractical to send them there. Some away games in SA could be an option I guess.

Yeah didn't realise WA still had the quarantine for SA and Qld.

Where are Saints based at at the moment? What about Essendon? If either are NSW we could be in for more changes.

Looks like the Saints are in QLD so we should be all good.

Hopefully the NSW outbreak is contained and the border can come down in a couple weeks.

Also I'm hoping that anyone that has gone to the R2 showdown doesn't qualify for the ticket ballot. Only 25k tickets, 28k members, I'm hoping to get a ticket given that. No one without a full pledge should get to go.

Realistically not all 28k full members will be able/want to go. If you are a an 11 game member, you aren't going to miss out.

I think that is not far off what will happen. If you take St Kilda as the example, they have come to Adelaide to play Adelaide and Port Adelaide in consecutive weeks. Essendon will play Adelaide next week and probably Port the week after.

Of course only an idiot would think of moving teams back to Melbourne after a day of 257 new cases in Melbourne but the AFL are idiots so anything could happen. The same Travis Auld assured the Victorian teams they would be back in Melbourne after round 9 so how can you believe anything he says?

The ABC version:

Make no mistake, the AFL and NRL will be rushing to be the first to do this.
Being second could leave you in pretty ordinary accommodation.
