Has anyone even considered Ziebell? Don't think I've seen him in a single team.

Too boom or bust? 6 120s, six sub 60s.

Are North on the improve? Rarely watch them because I've rarely owned players from their team.

Only missed 4 games in the last 5 years.

Yuck.

I’d rather Max King.

I have Max King too...

He went from averaging 86 under Scott to 94 under Shaw.
Forwards look pretty pooey this year. Outside of Whitfield, anyone near 95ppg is a big win.

I don't hate it.

Has the best bye too.

Ehh don't see it.
Good 3 really nice young players in Larkey, Zuurhaar and Thomas but don't really see other reasons for internal improvements.
Had some impressive wins toward the end of the year no doubt but they've got a lot of plodders in the best 22.
26 year forward averaging 13 posssionss and 0.5 goal a game and 3 tackles is in their best 22.

I've toyed with the idea of him as a POD, reckon he's good for 95 in the midfield which is where he'll likely play again this year.

I'm biased, of course, but willing to bet you're wrong.

Are you talking about Mason Wood? Probably won't play forward this year - I have him behind Brown, Ziebell, Garner, Larkey, Zurhaar, Thomas and Simpkin, and he's been training with the defenders group. He's very talented and hasn't had a good run with injuries but yes, his numbers are not what they need to be. I'm excited to see what he can bring in terms of defensive rebound. Some also have Hosie in the forwards mix, but I haven't seen enough of him to comment.

I'm very bullish on Simpkin this year and have him in my SC team. He (and Thomas) will be in the mid rotations with Cunnington, Higgins, LDU, Anderson, Ahern, Jacobs (if he gets right) and even Tyson. I expect Ziebell to spend most of his time forward.

Whilst on North bias, I'm also starting with Goldie instead of Grundy, but keeping an extra $100k in case it's clear after Rd 2 that I pulled the wrong lever. And Comben is my R3, though I don't expect him to get much game time his year, if any. No other North players in the 1st version of my SC team.

I think he was talking about Garner.

Why do you see Ziebell forward more this year?

Garner, really? Hasn't really had much of a run at it. We all salivate at the prospect of a fully fit Garner (you'll see why).

In relation to Ziebell, I just think he's more effective when he plays mostly forward. He's a very hard match-up, strong overhead but smart on the ground and kamikaze courageous. Up to a couple of seasons ago, he was an extremely strong and reliable kick, hope he gets back to that after a couple of disappointing seasons in this area.

Ziebell and Cunnington are both very good ball winners in the middle, but both are slow so it makes our midfield too one dimensional with both there. Cunnington's disposal out of congestion is elite, Jack's is very hit or miss, so we will retain Ben as the main man in the midfield.

I think the rest of the midfield is fine without Ziebell. Higgins is class. Anderson is a good ball winner and user, and a great pressure player. Jacobs is back training - straight in if fit. LDU will get more game time this year and will be a fixture in the 22 by the end of the season. Simpkin, Ahern, Thomas, even Zurhaar in the rotations and they all excite me. Tyson, Hall and Turner as depth (and the latter two will have time in the forward line).

Ziebell to pinch hit at times, of course, but my hope is that we don't use him in the centre square set-up very much. It's not meant to be a knock on him, I love him as a player and am fully supportive of him as captain, because he's the right man for the job, but he adds most value forward.

feel gross typing this but is anyone looking at Jack Martin?

Depends entirely on role. At this stage it looks like he'll be playing half-forward, which is absolutely gross in terms of Supercoach and you should avoid at all costs. If he plays on a wing or in the middle however, then I'd be intrigued.

But again at this stage it seems he'll be on a forward flank, which will be great for the team, shite for Supercoach.

yeah even if hes 50/50 mid fwd i wouldn't touch him. Maybe if Walsh moves into the middle he can take his wing spot. Forwards a so bad this year, Whitfield only premo i trust

Does Jack have another 90+ season in him with Tom Lynch in the side? Seymour Skinner Averaged 93 in 2018 with an injury affected 3 point game in there. I don't usually consider KP forwards, but priced at 69 (374k) he seems like good value so long as he's not playing out of the goal square. 10 of first 14 games at MCG.

I think he’s pretty much done for 90+ seasons, also factoring in his age and the role plays.

There are plenty of mid/forwards (Fisher, LDU, Brayshaw, Simpkin, Ainsworth) who well have breakout seasons and then fallen premos like Smith and Steven who pick themselves.

I have Smith & Steven, both fairly safe for 90+ injury permitting. I would back Jack to outscore the other 5 who are all unproven.

Higher risk/higher reward. All are midfielders about to hit their 3rd and 4th years, which usually means an uptick in their form and scoring potential. (Not too sure about Ainsworth tbh)

Yeah talking about Garner. Dude was drafted in 2012 - could count the number of good games he's had on one hand. I can't see him catapulting North forward.

Simpkin is an interesting one had about 5 great games last year. Also had 9 games of =<15 disposals, kicking 0 goals in those games. Be interesting to see if he can improve on that consistency. I think he was playing midfield when a number of these underperformance happened as well but maybe you can correct me as I certainly didn't watch all your games last year.

Riewoldt > Lynch?
