Not totally ready to take the Naismith plunge at R2 just yet (want to see one more game). It is good knowing that I have a potential +230k to spend if I go down that route.

Last major change was D.Martin down to Wingard, which allowed J.Selwood up to Adams
I really like the Gaff and Oliver picks. Both should be top 8 mids without a doubt and are going to be unique, reliable selections.

I have a similar team and have played with Naismith (I've been sold all preseason) at R3 and Cameron on the fwd line or as the UTL.
Gives so much flexibility with Brander there!!

I know he’s been discussed at various stages in the thread but is anyone likely to take the plunge on Worpel as a unique? He’s currently sitting at M4 for me and although I’m not entirely comfortable with it I would love to know someone else is sharing in the giddying highs of his forthcoming glorious 110+ average

Or at least that I’ll have someone else to complain to if the pick fails.
One of my first picked, has been in there all pre-season along with my other unique J Dawson.

The time is rapidly coming troops... with the most important data for mine to come from here in...
Marsh 3 teams / then game day roles Marsh 3 and then the long quiet until the teams drop for Round 1.
and then it's on... the Richmond rook raffle and then it's vent thread here we come!

Do we have a plan? do we need a plan? G/L all.

As this thread gets far more traffic than the Unofficial Leagues thread I'm chucking this in here.

Stupid site won't allow you to invite people to last years leagues. Bunch of Nimrods.

Well that worked a treat.

How many people are starting with Petracca? He interests me a great deal but not sure I can fit him in due to all the value picks in the forward line. He is just that touch more $$'s. Even in pretty much a full blown forward role like he has played so far in his career, we've seen him average 80.7 in 2018. Only dropped by 5 last year and Melbourne were abysmal. Many people predict a climb up the ladder this year, as they probably should, I have them around 8th spot however. Looking closer at him though, he's been surprisingly durable since his ACL. Missed 1-2 games max the last 3 years. If Melbourne can climb, and he gets more midfield time, I can't see why he wouldn't average 90+ which makes him a top 6 forward. Change my mind

I would love to start him and would if he was playing at least 70% mid but will he be is the question i mean this is the same team who played Bray on a wing a crapton last year

Acres' injury has literally ****ed my side, had about 510k for a forward and he fit the bill to a tee. With his departure, there is no one around the mark that I want to take in. Suddenly I had 200k plus (after going down to Jones) that I had noting to do with. Cue downgrading a few expensive rookies, now I have additional cash but not enough to get anyone good, Cerra maybe, nah **** that, how about upgrading Anderson, no nobody worth while there in the 500k mark, ugh, I guess I'll swing Andy Brayshaw in? I don't even really want him.

I need to know the rookies, there is just too much going on here.

Very much this. I was very happy with my side too... Acres has forced a restructure but it's in a time where there's not enough information to do it.

He's in that group with Wingard, Rozee and Brayshaw for me. I'm going to have two of those four in my side.

He attended 23 centre bounces in Marsh 1. Ok so there was no Brayshaw but Goodwin has clearly said that he will Play more midfield time. Further, he has lost a considerable amount of weight and played his best game for the club against the crows. Given Brayshaw has had an interrupted pre season I think they’ll play him mainly in the guts and I personally think being conservative he’ll go 90 but could reach the 100 average ( remember Brayshaw went 105 when thrown in the guys in 2018). Worst case scenario if he spuds it up there’s a few others around the same price and you can jump on them if Petracca doesn’t dominate early.

what do you expect Rozee to average this year? And what are you predictions on his role? i really like him as a second year breakout but feel he’ll have 50-60 games and may not provide the consistency as other mid prices.

The club wants and needs his class and speed around the ball. He played every game in his rookie year too, so he's durable. Plus he kicks goals.

A 20 & 2 season would not surprise me one bit. He's an elite talent.

Do I hate it?
No.
Do I love it?
Also no.
Sums up my entire fantasy preseason so far. I never hate a squad I pick, but I haven't settled with one I truly love  and this may or may not be apt in describing the females I've been with in the past, but that's neither here nor there..

Only thing I don’t like about Oliver is his lack of ceiling. Only went 120+ 3 times last year. He did go 95+ 18/22 so has absolute elite consistency
I think it's worth noting that he played last year having come off two shoulder reconstructions and completed less than 50% of the preseason.

That coupled with the fact he's still only 22 (21 most of last year) and has only just reached the 80 game mark, where players traditionally start improving, then there's still upside.

I have him at the moment and have been swapping him in and out with Walsh all pre season but currently have him a nudge ahead.

Check this week but I think Bradshaw will outscore Acres anyway.

shush!!!!

I’m probably overreacting to the de Boer tag but if Oliver didn’t play him so early in the season I would have him well and truly locked with the key thrown away. Still extremely tempted as it is.

EDIT: sorry samFFC just saw your post :(

Fair point, didn’t realise that was the case

And agree, already has 3 seasons of 100+ to his name, no reason he can’t go 110+. Macrae had like 3 seasons around 104-105 before he started going 115+

I have my M3 spot between Wingard and Petracca currently.

Think Wingard is safer for consistency but that could be consistantly 85.
Petracca might avg more but worried it could be 50, 120, 80, 90 etc
