Pang of nostalgia for Freo Oval with that comment. Bit of trumpet blowing here - I started the Training Threads back in about 2003 when Polak was still the great hope, and Steve the groundsman told me that he thought a young fella called Luke McPharlin, was the best player on our list. Pretty sure I was the only watcher who regularly posted back in those days. You blokes who go down for a look-see week-in, week-out and report back with such detail are bloody awesome. I really hope this thread can stay on track this coming year, cos I, like so many others, look forward so much to your posts every week. :)

I was living in Melbourne then and you kept me sane.
The reports are so important to the expats interstate.
The locals don't realise the lack of Freo info interstate.

Must admit I haven't paid much attention to this thread the last couple of years for reasons people have alluded to, but I'm pretty excited for any reports this year.

Looking forward to long-time watchers' takes on any differences they notice with a new coach.

I am a relative late comer to the "attending training, writing reports" thing, but some of the old timers still talk about you with great respect.

can u disable replies/quotes in this thread? I love all the reports and I find the odd question useful for answering by any watcher, e.g was Colyer at training? Was he is in the f22 or seconds?

But not the fights and the quepinions e.g. Was Colyer at training cause he better not be in the first 22 cause you guys don't know what you're talking about, he can't hit a target and we need to sack Ross and training watcher X is an idiot anyways because he is delusionally hopeful and not a cynical masochist Freo supporter like myself, we're definitely bottom 4 material unless we can clone Fyfe and he stops being prima dona everyone hates, and why is Mundy still so slow and yet getting a game. Also, why did Sunny get a spiderman tattoo, it brings down my respect for the Steves. Get me more information while I get my secretary to make me a coffee between meetings. I don't have all day and btw, you're wrong.

I'm happy to put forward a motion to triple Taylor's mod. salary to account for spending the extra time moderating this thread. Anyone want to second my motion?
Ironic post?

If you cry, I’ll cry.

If I have the chance this week I may consider going down one of the days and having a watch. Will be interested to see how hard Longmuir will push the boys right out of the gate. I hope he works them and hard and pushes them to the best of their ability.

And to us living overseas!

Just wanted to tell everyone who gets down to trainings this spring, I truly appreciate your time and efforts. This is one of my favorite threads on the board. We all have different opinions on game style, favorite players, and areas the team should be focusing on. Three people could watch the same training and come away with different impressions. In the end we're all just fans doing something we enjoy.

To all the keyboard warriors out there, please think twice about hitting "post reply" laced with an attack. Critique away, but don't insult. Let's not get this thread shut down again. Us non-WA folks depend on those railbird reports! (Railbirds = Local term for people who stand next to the railings/fences watching Green Bay Packers preseason camp. Not sure if it's used outside of the region here.)

Bring on season 2020!

All nice and official.

Keen to see Sturt and Valente get a good preseason under their belts

Valente dropped 4kg over the break in an effort to relieve the stress on his groins so hopefully we can see him really improve his running and press for selection in the pre season.
