There’s the theory that we were so reliant on hill and langdon to run the ball out of the back half because of our skills being so terrible to hit up players between the two 50’s

I’m not saying the wing players aren’t important, but if we can clean up our skills and actually have confidence to hit up players, we won’t need to rely on a hill type to run and bounce the ball 150 m per possession

Elite Kicking will have the ball moving quicker than any one person can run

Correct the quickest way to get from one end to the other is kicking through the corridor.

We other theory to better kicking is we will have more energy to fun faster as we aren’t turning the ball over all the bloody time and we won’t have to pull our hands out of our hair or face before we start chasing.

Managed to sneak another session in.
Not much to report.
Fyfe doing some set shorts.
One difference from other years is the amount of goal kicking practice.
Sandi and Darcy working a lot together, including one drill where they would wrestle for 30 seconds then do a couple 200m runs and start again.
Sandi looks great, Darcy not so much.
But to be fair Darcy had been doing a lot more work before hand.
Logue doing a lot of contested marking work.
The kids working mostly in one group.
Hill looking good.
Cam pumping out laps.
They look and sound a very happy group.
I know this keeps getting written, but the one on one and the small detail coaching is a world apart from last year. 20191211_105228.jpg 20191211_105209.jpg 20191211_102408.jpg 20191211_102212.jpg 20191211_095449.jpg

Logue as the defender? Really think he can do a Fyfe and go into the middle/forward. Would be a contested beast when he roams forward. Ace in the deck.

It'll be interesting to see Cam on a wing, still think he is too slow to kick it.

Ross' gameplan was to heavily involve Langdon and Hill, we lost two very key players last year, hopefully Longmuir can come up with something not so reliant on the wingers.
I remember thinking McCarthy's delivery inside 50 was (comparatively) impressive when watching him very early last season playing up the ground a bit.
He's actually not a bad kick at all.

He is a great kick but he takes about 3 seconds to put it on the boot, thats an eternity at AFL level, he has this kind of wind up kicking style.

If he marks it and gets to kick it in thats fine, but in play he will likely get found out.

Agree based on last year’s evidence. Hopefully that is just an adjustment to the ‘pace of AFL‘ issue which he can overcome this year.

Does anyone know when the players break for Xmas? I have a couple of weeks off coming up so keen to get down to at least one training, but have a bad feeling my break is exactly the same as the players
Not 100% sure, but they usually finish up around the 21st Dec, and come back on the 4th Jan, depending when those days fall. 21st is a Friday this year, so that probably makes sense, so maybe they'll be back on Mon 5th Jan.

Thanks I’m off on 23rd December so was hoping for that day. Should be off 6 December also, if they are back I’ll def go down for that
