I've got this as our best forward 6 heading into 2020:

HF: Cuningham - McKay - Martin
F: Betts - C Curnow - McGovern

Curnow's injury opens up a spot for Levi:

HF: Cuningham - McKay - Martin
F: Betts - Casboult - McGovern

If Harry misses as well I'd look at something like:

HF: Cuningham - Casboult - Martin
F: Betts - Kennedy - McGovern
Great that we have a few options, Jack Silvagni another option as well. Suppose Cripps and Setterfield will find themselves down there at times as well.

TDK also an option if Harry and Charlie are out early. Levi the othe KPF, chopping out Krooz. TDK, could also take a couple of centre bounces a quarter as a change up

A bit annoying how we have to constantly wait for Dow to come on.... I believe he will be a better player in 2020 but judging by posters on here he is still a year or 2 away....
Just curious, why was he so underdeveloped physically and aerobically coming into the AFL, esp as a pick 3? I believe he has the attributes to become an A grader at some pint but those are the two things holding him back.

Had a hip issue preseason last year, which hindered ramping up his workload. Was also a factor for his kicking issues

Don’t agree. He shows me little of the superb upside that McKAy has always flashed. McKay would murder him in a run. Of any description. And any previous version of McKay would do same.
Have you watched him in the 2nds.....plenty of upside for mine.? Big fellas need senior exposure. TDK needs that 4 week block in the seniors

Yep and AR appears to be having a big influence on the players body conditioning and fitness. For some reason im feeling confident about R1 but logic says we will unlikely win as they are the premiers.

I think it was Ricky Nixon who was at the club late last year and said something along the lines of our boys become men which seems pretty spot on.

Paneboy, you know not all players progress at the same rate, nor is it ever linear especially with talls

TDK has all the attributes of a modern day ruck/forward, but he still has those junior giraffe moments.

If he reaches the level/output of someone like Sinclair of the Swans, then we would all be satisfied

As i said earlier, i'd be big on giving TDK first crack if there's no Harry and Charlie.

Going to be very interesting how they structure the forward line when Harry and Charlie are back, the only given is Eddie will be in a forward pocket.
I’m hoping when Charlie comes back they use him out of the goal square a lot more or even McG they both just have more tricks than H in the one on one stuff out of the square.

Yeah, didn't he kick 7 playing close to goals in one game last season?

Yep he certainly did, I think cause he is such a great runner they like to let him push higher up the ground but I think he is more dangerous for us close to home, hopefully with McG slimming down and improving aerobically he can be the one to push up the ground as the link man.

Even big Harry is mobile enough to push up the ground, i think they all will have a turn and if goes to plan and our midfield improve as we think they will, hello no 17.(i'm not drinking)

Yeah sorry I should have explained more. My comment was in response to what I interpreted as ‘just chuck him in and play him’. I don’t want to see that. With mcKay we got away with that because of his athleticism - which was my point.

I’m bullish on TDK long term. As a ruck. But I wouldn’t throw him in at all yet. I’d rather player a smaller forward line.

You want a tall that will present and do everything to keep the ball in the zone? - TDK is your man.
Of course we shouldn't expect too much from a 20y.o. 203cm ruck/forward, but opportunity really can be a wonderful thing.

At this stage though, Kreuzer, Casboult and Mckay may well keep TDK out of a starting position, but should McKay not be ready and something happen to either Casboult or Kreuzer? Does Pittonet get first bite? I'm not sure, but I'd favour De Koning.
I'm thinking along the same line, for me if McKay somehow doesn't get up for the opener against the tigers then we need another true key position forward along with Casboult as our two pillars, providing his form leading up too it is good.
McGovern is loosely described as key position and although he's a good size at 191cm, for me he's a sensational mark for a medium sized player which confuses the notion he's a key position player, one on one against true key backman is not a strength of his...
Casboult 201cm and DeKoning 203cm our two true key positions McGovern 191cm Martin 186cm Betts 173cm Cuningham 185cm with J.Silvagni 194cm our forward/midfielder the other rotation...
McGovern and J.Silvagni aren't one on one players to contest against the best key defenders, we need the heavyweights to contest for our medium/smalls...

Continuing the player YOY series as some seem to have liked it.

19. Betts. I don’t remember much but I do know he couldnt run. Still can’t. Worst endurance at the club. But that’s no change. He still seems to be Eddie to me. The chance down tackling. The vacuum hands. The freakish reactions. I expect a big year.

20. Plowman. I never notice him. Which is good. He’s a lock down defender. Seems in great shape. Don’t recall him missing a session. He came 3rd in the B+F last year. Something of a surprise to me but he’s going to play at that level again for sure.

21. Martin. I’m a bit with a few others here. He doesn’t show up a lot, which is a little surprising. Sure he took a nice mark yesterday. Bit of pressure. No mistakes. Good decisions. Good ball use. Just wouldn’t mind a bit more ‘impact’, ya know? But yeah it’s Jan....

22. Marchy. Looks like he could run 400 for Australia to me! Jesus he can run. I’d like to see him play....has missed way too much footy. But look they’ve been conservative and he’s too important to risk.

23. Weiters. Jesus. The session yesterday said it all. Casboult embarrasses Goddard in Q1. Weiters chumped Casboult in Q3. YES he will be AA this year. Come at me. He’s a beast. He knows where the ball is going before the opponent kicks it. His marking is great. Body positioning great. I’m super pumped about his year.

24. Newman. Had my doubts when we picked him up. Dispelled. Had them again when he missed chunks of this preseason. Dispelled. He’s in great condition. He gives us a lot of switch, a lot of attack off half back. He’s better than most think one on one. Not as slow as I thought. Close to a cert now.

25. Fisher. What a preseason. What a preseason. Huge effort son. Massive lift in endurance. Even bigger lift in core strength. He stands up in tackles now! He’s got his zip back. Punch in kicks. I’m pretty excited to have him in he side.

26. Wish I could say more than ‘he’s running well’.....

27. Pittonet. As advertised for mine. Solid backup. Will not displace Kreuzer. He’s not quite mobile enough. He’s very good at boundary throw ins. Not as good at centre square. I like him. Just not amazing.

Awesome effort by LOB to make it through to the 4th round of the Australian Open.

Bit concerned by the effects of fatigue though as we approach round 1 vs the Tigers.

Not footy related but Karen Khachanov (playing Kyrgios tonight) is deadset the lost Hemsworth brother.
