Just looking at past winners, showdown seems like the ANZAC day medal winner more a midfield medal winner type, in comparison to the Western Derby where a backman/forward has a better chance of winning it.


Anyway based on those odds, Fantasia @ 34, Georgiades @ 41 look a bit of value. None of the Port midfielders appeal for me at those prices.

If Fanta is winning it, he is kicking 4+ goals, IMO.

He wont win it for 3.

He is a small opportunist forward. Im not sure its been awarded for kicking 3 goals in a likely one sided contest and not doing much else. I think Wobbie Gray won it when he tore the Crows apart once kicking 4 in a quarter. But thats when the game was like 50:50.

One year Graham Johncock won it back in 2003.

Stat wise nothing really stood out 20 disposals and 1 goal.


41 Showdowns to which , 2 times it went to the losing side . 2003 when Johncock won and 2018 when Gray won it- were when sides on the losing side, a player won the medal. 2005 there was a tie.

And yes , I was surprised to see Gray has won the Medal 5 times.

So fair to say , the winner of the medal has to be from the winning side.

Anyway if Adelaide get up, O'Brien @ 41 not a bad play there considering as someone mentioned Jacobs has won in the past. Thilthorpe if he can snag a bag of 5+ in a winning side @ 67 , is probably a par bet for him to kick 5+ goals @ 51.
