I get the feeling Jacob Van Rooyen will be a very special player.
100% the player i want with our pick #15

alot of phantom's have him going 20's but i would hate to miss him by gambling he gets to our #26
Kid has been a good foward through juniors and has proven he can play defence

I see him playing very similar to Oscar Allen but will be couple cm taller

His kicking under pressure is appalling. Do not want to go near him. Williams is a much better option.

I wouldn’t mind having more of a look at Mac Andrew if we lose both CCJ and Chol.

Limited vision I’ve seen of him, he looks to be a far better athlete then Chol but with the same (possibly better) foot skills.
The big question mark will be how his frame will hold up against senior bodies. What injuries come with a 200cm 75kg frame? If he tests off the charts as an athlete, there will have to be thoughts about whether strength will be able to be put on such a light slender frame.

Chol is on the senior list now.
He was never elevated to the senior list. The reason he is a free agent is that he was delisted at the end of 2018 and picked up in the rookie draft again, giving us 3 years as a rookie before having to promote him (except the AFL extended it to 4 for this year because of lack of development due to covid).

Draft history: 2016 Rookie Draft selection (Richmond) No. 30; 2019 Rookie Draft selection (Richmond) No. 38.

Pretty Certain Parker took Soldos senior list spot as Soldo was placed on the LTI list?
Soldo was put on the LTI list to open a spot. Parker is a rookie and when Soldo returns he takes up his senior spot and Parker is a rookie. No need to do anything list wise with Parker except offer him a contract if we want to keep him. That is why it is called the AFL mid season Rookie draft.

Chol was elevated to the senior list on the morning of the rookie draft last year.

Our Category A rookie list currently consists of Aarts, Egg, Parker, Mansell, Miller, Stack and Pickett. At least one of them will have to be cut.

Sorry, you are correct. The RFC site doesn't mention his elevation like the other players that have been elevated, not does it mention Miller being moved to the rookie list.

Was so much easier when the RFC site showed a separate main and rookie list, but what do you get when you the AFL sells the hosting rights to Telstra!

That's pretty easy
Bye Egg 👋

I don't.

I get JR8 but a bit more agile.
But can't jump.

He's the same height, has shorter arms and can't jump.

Andrew would be high-risk, high-reward stuff. If we get a couple more early picks and the top-notch mids are gone, we might take him because the mids we get at 15(17) and possibly 17(19) are no lesser than what's available at 7(9). e.g. Ward and Hobbs are gone and they think there's a blanket over several others and we'll get two of them.

Yes, Jye Amiss with pick 7, crafty skilled key fwd, not oversized, plays like Jack, Gun kick, 53.11 this year.
We will get the best available at pick 7.

Why do we have to promote Parker onto the senior list? He is a rookie and can stay on the rookie list for 3 years. If they delist Egg and as reported Chol going to GC (who is a rookie so doesn't open a senior list spot) then we don't need to do anything with Parker, and still have 1 rookie spot open.
Chol was elevated onto the senior list as we only 35 senior players after the draft last year.

I'd like to see us trade up to get one of Ward or Hobbs. They won't be there at pick 9.
Guess that depends on where Gibcus, Amiss and Mac Andrew are taken after the 1st 3 are gone. I could see GCS and GWS as possibilities for Gibcus and Amiss, although one of them would probably take Callaghan, if Amiss is still available then Adelaide could go for him, if not then Erasmus. Hawks would probably take Ward, leaving Erasmus or Amiss for Freo should they get pick 6. My take on the draft for now would be:

1. Daicos: (after Nth bid) Collingwood
2. Horne: North
3. Darcy: (after GWS bid) Bulldogs
4: Callaghan: GWS
5. Gibcus: GCS
6. Amiss: Adelaide
7. Ward: Hawks
8. Erasmus: Freo or Carlton
9. Best of the rest: Tigers

I'm no draft expert by any stretch of imagination and I can only go by what I read and what is said by much more astute and professional draft watchers, so for me it's just a consensus of opinions, but I think that there's a whole raft of talented players that will be available at our 1st pick possibly including Hobbs. Of the others you'd have to look at Sinn, Andrew, Chesser, Sonsie, Draper, Johnson etal. Some of those will also be available at our 2nd pick.

You've obviously watched him a fair bit. How about Amiss... I guess you've seen him as well? What's the verdict with him? Worth pick 7?

If Hobbs is available at our pick, I doubt there would be more than 5 seconds before his number is punched in for the selection

If it's not Hobbs then you could add one of Amiss, Gibcus and Erasmus to the list of available talent
Yes. Still, I remember last time we had a similar pick, and having a list of similar high rated juniors that I expected us to choose from, I was sitting in the convention center in Broadbeach, our pick comes up... And.

Richmond with pick 6 select Reece Conca.

Say what?? Who?? He's not even on the list for the 2nd pick!!!!

Nah in the top 3 picks you go with the best available

Callaghan and Hobbs are a no brainer
I normally agree but GWS are stacked in midfield. They need bookends. Watch for them to go rogue. I think their pick shapes the top 10.

Hogan injury prone, Himmelberg doesn’t impact games, Greene suspended. Finlayson may go. They struggled to kick goals in that last final. I think they’ll go KPF. Just my view

I think you're pretty close. Adelaide have Thilthorpe and Fogarty, so not sure they go for Amiss. I could see them going for Hobbs or Ward or pulling a surprise and going the local kid Draper.

You've obviously watched him a fair bit. How about Amiss... I guess you've seen him as well? What's the verdict with him? Worth pick 7?
I've only seen Amiss in the WA v SA game, plus a few highlights. I want to see more of him, at the moment undecided, but like many others I feel the KPP crop this year is underwhelming. Bazzo later in the draft might be a go for a KPD, and for some reason I have the feeling Williams might be the best of the key forwards. Big, raw-boned farm boy who doesn't turn 18 until December. He might be there at 26. We might also get an extra pick or two before then.

The other one is Mac Andrew, who athletically has them all covered and looks decent above head and on the lead. If he's there at 17 I'd be tempted to pull the trigger. Maybe even at 9 if we really like him, believe he can be a forward and think we can get a mid of equal quality at 17 as at 9.

If Hobbs is available at our pick, I doubt there would be more than 5 seconds before his number is punched in for the selection
I'm not completely sold on Hobbs. Need to watch more of him. He gets the ball but does he do a lot with it? Does he explode from congestion? Are his hands elite? I prefer Ward.
