Has to be considered now. Was down on form/fitness in 2019and 2020 but has reportedly come back really fit and very keen this preseason. I expect Brown to play pretty early so it's Weideman's absence that will give McDonald the chance to get back to the role he had supporting Hogan in 2018 that saw him average just under 100.
Doesn’t he struggle as the main KPF though?

In his career best season 2018 Tmac was the main KPF whilst Hogan was the decoy.

LOL McDonald kicked 53 and Hogan kicked 47 that year I hardly think he was a decoy.

Tmac was the number 1 kpf over Hogan in 2018. Hogan was still pretty young and played as a link up forward. Common misconception is that Hogan is a power forward, he is more of a Tom Lynch at Adelaide instead of a Tom Lynch at Richmond. Tmac was the big boy and was very good. He's since come back very unfit and been disappointing. This preseason he has shed over 8 kgs and is the fittest he's ever been, very impressive for somebody who's best feature is his fitness. I'm definitely considering him for sc, might have a couple games as the number one kpf and then the number 2 until weed comes back.

So if he was the main man then where has he been the last 2 years or can't he handle the No1 Backman?
The whole team was down in 2019 and TMac was terrible last year. Seemed unfit and uncharacteristically slow. Looked disinterested really. Apparently that's all changed this season. Sounds like he really has the right attitude again.

As for who was the main man between TMac and Hogan, I'm not sure either were. They seemed to take turns at FF while the other roamed up around the wing, which they were both very effective at. I'd say Tmac probably stayed at home a bit more than Hogan though.

I am genuinely interested I love watching 1on1 contests where it is a real battle and with the best Ruckman and probably 2 of the top 10 midfielders then in reality he should get plenty of 1on1 opportunities from quick movement that's when the real guns up forward show what they have. I very much doubt he is Supercoach worthy though at his price I would rather take a risk on Hately or Caldwell getting first look in the middle. Also if he has shed 8kgs this preseason it must mean he has had a big kick up the arse regarding his commitment.
