Whats the chances of Jordan Clark playing round 1 guys?

Wasnt he deciding to go back to W.A at the end of last year?

Surely the cats will play him.

rocker_oz33 ?

Neale played 89% TOG in 2019 which is more than the 92% last year. I don't remember him resting forward much that year.
Yeah, the thinking there (and quite probably the logical flaw on my side) was that with lower rotations, they can't come off at the same frequency, they'll have fewer bench periods that last longer, so they'll have to have more 'active rest' time to achieve the same TOG.
Are there any articles out there on how they expect players' rest / splits to change?

New article on Treloar/Dogs today.

Key bits:
Dunkley
“Reflecting on his year, he had that bad syndesmosis and we asked him to fill a role in the ruck and he was so team-oriented that he accepted it, but we won’t do it this year.

“We will share the load with all our mids and with his forward craft and ability to cover ground he will play multiple positions for us and he will be accepting of that.”

Bont + Macrae mention
“Bonty and Jack Macrae are excited about challenging themselves when they aren’t in the middle. Even exploring 75 interchanges, guys will come up for longer but also go forward.

“He (Bont) is excited about hitting the scoreboard more and has put a mountain of time into his game and forward craft. We know about his front-half connections and finishing but if he adds to that firepower he can take his game to a new level.”

Treloar
“He has been pretty resilient. We backed him off a bit early for our medical team to get across everything, but he’s been really good to date and building up to be available for the first praccy game.”

Bloody long way of saying they have NFI where they'll play

Why are people ignoring Petracca? Please don’t say longer quarters will tire him out. I’m tipping he will be in most relevant teams by the half way mark.
Haven't followed it in detail, there seemed to be a couple of things people pointed to (not saying they are right and there's plenty who would happily disagree ), e.g.:

1. 36-pt increase in avg: historically, players who've managed that leap into SP country have regressed a little the following year.
2. Longer games: Apparently his scoring was better in H1 of games vs H2 and we're going back to longer games again (counterargument to that would be the shape he's apparently in).
3. Loss of DPP: It's not 100% logical, but psychologically a lot skip over blokes who have lost dual status.
4. Think I read somewhere they've got a reasonably tricky draw to start the year off(?) If so, some might wait and see and look at him as an upgrade target.
5. Longer games might see less scale for 'impact' scorers than Coronaball levels.

Don't have an opinion either way, was asking about him the other day myself.
Was fantastic last year.

Imo I can’t see any reason to take Petracca over Oliver.

Last season Oliver lifted his average above 115 for the first time all the way to 122, but he did it without any apparent change to his role. That suggests he was greatly advantaged by the shorter quarters and scaling. Oliver's average was also boosted by two massive outlier scores of 205 and 177. Oliver's always going to be a good pick, but may be poor value now the normal quarters are back.

Petracca may also have been advantaged by the shorter quarters and scaling, but he mainly increased his scoring due to greatly increased fitness and a new midfield role that he's surely made his own now. I can see him progressing even further this season. Also, with the decreased interchanges this year I feel midfielders who are capable of scoring well when they do go forward, Petracca and Bont types, will be advantaged.

Damnit!

You have me considering Petracca over Oliver now. LOL.

I’ve got both. Lock in 350 plus every week for them two and Gawn. Dees might improve a bit this year too, structure looks on the up.

Petracca and Steele are my 2 premo mids and I'm not seeing them in hardly anybody's teams. And yes it is scaring me. Can't see how people don't have 1 if not both of them in.

Both good options
Both pods
Going these two over safe guys like Oliver/Neale/Macrae
Could be good early but could backfire too if trac and Steele start slow

Go with your gut

Spot on with my thinking too mate.

Don't say it too loudly but, Piggy Oliver is a lot of people's golden child on these forums LOL and they'll bite your head off

He’s far from my personal love child, I didn’t have the pig last year after a bad meltdown and era.

But in an alternate opinion we take out the 382 from those 2 games and he still scored 1696-15 games =113 average
I’d take a 113 average this year and I’m not gonna over think it this time! Each to their own though

Kelly has scored 200 more then once and another score close to a 200. Oliver could be like him I wouldn’t be surprised if Ollie scores 200 again this season. I watched him all year had him from get go he did also improve his kicking and the way he plays. His just a machine 🔒

Yes I think that's what you're probably going to get from him as it's consistent with his usual scoring. It's still a great score and, as I said, he's a good pick. Just maybe not the right choice for those looking for value.
