Levi has become one of, if not my favorite player for this reason. Always feels safer with him in the side.
I can't help but think that if he had had better players around him in the early days to help carry the load and share the burden of kicking goals, he would be one of the most dominant players in the game now.

There goes all the "carlton can't pick any decent rookies with late picks" bashers ... oh yeah ed curnow as well ..... oh and Gibbons ...

how does that work? So if Cripps stays, are you saying we will have 3 captains or they will demote one of Cripps or Docherty? Either option seems obsurd

I think Walsh was born to captain an AFL side.

I just cannot fathom how someone can think that.

Casboult is nowhere near competitive AFL standard and has been extraordinarily lucky that he's been on a list that has been terrible and with injury prone talls, thus enabling him to hang around for 10 years as a stopgap. He has zero idea how to play team footy and i can't wait to see a Carlton team that can thrive without his presence.

I will never understand the myth of Levi Casboult.

The man .. the myth .. the Levi!

What do you think it is? Concentration, ie he looks like he gets "lost" at times, is it lack of understanding of the structures? Really I cannot put my finger on it, I hope its not "meh I cant be stuffed for this contest ... next one" type thing.
I think he would be better served playing a solo sport. I think his problem is connection, lack of chemistry with team mates, resulting in him not getting involved as often as he could, waiting for a loose ball rather than getting himself involved in a chain of possession.

Like I said, I don't think either Cripps or Docherty will mind stepping down. TBH I think Cripps would be better off not being Captain now a few have stepped up and the workload is being spread. I'm not really a fan of the 2 Captains model and I see the Club wanting to promote someone who will lead the side into the next Dynasty. Cripps and Docherty would still be leaders, just not Captain.

This hype around TDK is great but isn't helping me as a fantasy keeper owner. I reckon he's still a year away from really popping influence and statistic wise. Also the Pitto factor could haunt him in 2021.

Not sure whether his ceiling is Grundy and Gawn or more Sauce Jacobs.

Personally I’d play TDK for 4 games in a row and then have him rest for a week and bring Pito in and if you include the bye that would give him 5 games off and would go a long way to looking after his body and ensuring his longevity. Likewise a
Nothing wrong with that, hopefully the older players will see how determined he is and lift their games so as not to be letting him down.

I think he'll be Captain in 2022 regardless of if Cripps stays or goes and if Docherty is still fit.
And I don't think either of those players will mind stepping down for him either. Has to be the next Captain.

I love Walsh on every level, but absolutely no chance he is captain in 2022. 2024 perhaps, but certainly not 2022.

I dont disagree with either of these comparisons, but I'll say that Martin works harder than Hoops did.
Not sure about that. Doc and Cripps are still young, neither will want nor should they relinquish the captaincy. Walsh will likely be the next captain but, not in 2022. Bradley sat behind a sticks for a very long time despite his brilliance, diligence and leadership ability.

Would be absolutely baffling why Cripps would step down as captain, Walsh will have his time, just not anytime soon.

Docherty shouldn't be 2nd captain anyway, still a very strange choice today, should be Cripps and Cripps alone.

Just when CFC finally gets into the push for a flag, we'll nominate a 21 year old kid to be captain? I don't see the logic in that.

Cripps been through the hard yards over and over again, highly unlikely he'll not be captain until early 30's at least, 0 reason for him not to be.

Are you serious? Team strategy to bomb in on his head and that’s his fault? Commentators were calling him one of the most flexible bigs in the league for his capacity forward, pinch hit back and ruck. Please, are you taking the p155?

Unfortunately, some players will still get games do to "structure" issues .... IE say you have as a club have a BEST 18 ... 4 on the bench 22. You could feasible change one in the forward half, one in the guts/bench and one in defence without killing your structures. As you can see this year we lost Charlie, so Gov got gifted games, when to all and sundry, he should not have been.

Played on the premise "hoping" he will come good.

This will always be the case.

This is why I have been advocating for a young KPD, KPF and at the very least a project ruck .... It is now time to top up the tall timber.
Bang on the money “Hoping”
We need that to change, there’s the perception side of things that wrongly provide players that don’t deserve games on being underdone or continuous ordinary form that are given games, McGovern and some others has been gifted games on the back of ordinary form and hope...

It will pay off... belief.
I'm not saying it won't.

I have huge raps on Dow and LOB. I think Stocker could be an absolute jet. My post was more along the lines of how absurd it would be to turn down Oliver because of our developing mids that - if we're lucky - get to two thirds of his level.

I think we are chock-a-block with potential A & B+ graders now, but agree with most here that a future KPD should be our target. Our recruiting was sublime this year.

So, I am well familiar with our youngsters but what I am wondering is.

how do,

Dow
Kemp
Stocker
Philp
O’Brien
Honey
Ramsay

et al

compare to the second tier of other clubs?

Reckon they would be drooling.

Hasn’t helped a heck of a lot of our players BT, in this era of shitness in the past 20years from the very best players and to the rest of our entire list our club organization and shithouse undated development setups has seriously stagnated and killed many players careers...
It took us a f’kn miracle to finally sort out a fowards goal kicking coach in Sav... until recently we were so far behind the rest we were still learning how too lite the flame 🔥

He was drafted as a mid. Just can't get it enough as a mid.

What he does with the ball is great. Just can't get it enough.
Would be great if he was given more midfield time, Of his 47 games been played bugger all through the midfield IBB has some things to work on but can’t build on them if he’s not given more opportunity imo...

2019 was incredible particularly down in defense, was easily one of the best KP players in the comp, I’ve mentioned personally I think that’s his calling as a defender but opportunity for him is limited down there for us unless injury opens up a spot for him, there’s a shit load of AFL players that are far behind him in my opinion, your opinion but far from the mark TW...

I dont like this gifted games way of talking.
It's as if we didnt have the full rebuild. Is it forgotten so quickly? Surely through all of that, many many players got games because there was nobody else in the interim. Half of those are not on the list any longer some still are. I dont think its Mitches fault that Charlie and JSOS missed a year and he had to play on one leg. Yes I understand that he hasnt performed to the level we hoped yet. But what was the alternative? And this tiddlywinks season just gone is not something to judge anything by anyway. Not club or players.

Personally I’d think we’d fair quite well as the vast majority of that group have huge upside at are at least 2-3 seasons away from seeing their best. The only issue with our second tier vs some other clubs would be that some of the stronger clubs will have hardened bodies in this second group where as ours are still very much developing. Hopefully with the right development program this can be fast tracked and at least 1-2 of this group named can really come on this year and take the next step. And the honest truth is it could be any of that group that jump up and their chance where as most will expect it to be Dow and Kemp I’d imagine.

Where does he even fit in? Cripps, Williams, Ed, King/Levi/Pitt, Walsh, Setterfield,

Then you have Dow, Kemp, Stocker, OBrien, Salvagni, etc all waiting in the wings, Dow And OBrien especially.

Occasionally Martin too, can't really see a spot for Cunningham.

Think he'll be stuck forever in half-forward with Kennedy.

We’re going to learn a heap more on all of them and know where a few of them are exactly at... I’d be confident all will show great development this year...
