The whiteboard is quite interesting for the rotations. Ah Chee, Eli and Dev all competing for the wing. Rayner rotating with Lyons as a big mid (matho as well), while the 3 smalls rotate forward and mid in i assume the zorko spot.

Also laugh that Neale is the handwritten magnet as though he was forgotten

I was legit just about to post about our wings. Wondering who will line up there come round 1. Clugg was always going to move into the mids at some point and just based on the snippets from these intraclubs and the posted boards seems like he'll be spending more time on ball with occasional stints forward. His alternator according to the board Matho who is the inside specialist is interesting. Good to hear Matho doing so well. Clugg's skinny side spot seems to be Ely's for the taking atm with Robertson maybe just behind. Robbo's pre season management to me indicates he's still well and truly number one for the fat side but I imagine rotations will push him up forward at times with Ah Chee then filling the role.

Really want to see the team in flight. Is there any word at all if Foxtel is going to be broadcasting the match next week? I know it's not an official pre season game per se but I imagine they would have already been prepared to film two pre season games per club before the schedule got changed. Failing that a stream or delayed upload would really be appreciated.

Couple of extra thoughts from me adding to what has already been shared:

1. There were three or four specifically eye-catching moments from Ah Chee. One touch pickups, darting through traffic, and then hitting somebody right on the chest 40 metres away. It was pretty special to watch.

He looked quite a bit faster than he did at AFL level last year, but cleanly collecting the ball at pace can do that. He was the biggest story from the game for me personally, and would have been in my top 3 players on the ground which I was not expecting going along today.

2. Rayner & Bailey were probably the other two of my top 3. Zac didn't get much midfield time early, but when he went in there he was outstanding. He kicked two (maybe three?) goals, each one more impressive than the last.

Some of his handballs out of congestion were outrageous - I think he might be training with Lachie on that front. And not much more to say about Rayner than has been said all pre season. He started the match in the centre square and stayed there most of the game, and was clearly the most dominant midfielder. Think he'll play there a lot more this year.

3. I honestly was expecting James Madden to maybe be cut at the end of last season, just because there had been so little said about him and his development and my initial belief was that his contract was ending last year.

Of all the reserves players that we didn't see any of last year due to being behind closed doors though, he is the one who has most clearly become a different player in that time. I think he would have had 20+ touches for the game, and a goal or two as well.

His pace and agility are the most notable attributes of his game. It sounds like a lazy comparison due to the Irish link, but he does move a bit like Pearce used to when carrying the ball off half-back. Didn't think he was anywhere near senior selection, but after today I think we will see him at some stage this season.

4. Charlie is really going to benefit from all the attention given to our three tall forwards now. He wasn't the headline up there and he loved it today.

The Madden talk from you and Fay is exciting. I know how much a pacy, rebounding defender has been among the desires for Lions supporters last few years.

What were your thoughts of Smith?

Not sure why they altered the scoreboard after 3 quarter time.
They changed it to reflect scores that were close not the actual huge margin
Maybe it helped the Yellow as there was not much difference in teams scores for the last quarter
Below scoreboard at 3 quarter time with the Blue well in front.

Smith got better as the game went on - the last quarter seemed to be his best. I would've had Dev Robertson just above him, but both impressed me today more than they have before. Tom Joyce had a heap of the footy too.

Trying to pick the 22 for round 1

Back 7: H.Andrews, Gardiner, Rich, Birchall, Starcevich, Lester (7th ?)

Wing 3: Ah Chee, M.Robinson, Z.Bailey
Mid 5: O.Mcirney, Neale, J.Lyons, J.Berry, Mcluggage

Fwd 7: JoeD, Mcstay, Hipwood, C.Cameron, Zorko, Rayner, L.McCarthy

It wont surprise me if Dev Robertson or Ely Smith start the season abead of M.Robinson and end the year ahead. Due to Robbos interrupted PS

I personally wouldve thought a Z.Bailey or Ah Chee would be required back but maybe looking for more speed further afield. Madden, Cockatoo or Payne maybe fighting for round 1

Think all of Berry, Robbo and M.Adams played B side due to injury/interrupted PS

Still think M.Adams should be that 7th defender. Can play bigs or smalls

I was wondering how Robertson went today - with so much focus on Ely, it sounded like he's jumped Dev whereas I had Dev ahead purely based off speculation given the lack of reserves info last year. This seems like a fair call?

Any one who saw the intra care to give a bit of a critique of this kid Neale. An Academy top up? Obliviously a last minute call up as no time to print a magnet for him.
I don't know much about him but these two kid's must know something.
They ran past me to ask for an autograph after he finished doing laps
He happily obliged.
My concern though is his height.
Just a bit taller than the kid on the right.
I suppose "in Fagan we trust" so will possibly turn out okay

Yeah that was my thinking before yesterday too, although if Ely is in front, I wonder if it might just be the extra season he’s had at the club. I’d pick Dev first on what I saw yesterday, but it is very much neck and neck.

Yeah I can see your concerns re: height. But do we need another just "Okay" kid on the list?

This is a fair effort if he was on a best 22 defender. I haven’t given up on Conner yet. SLOW steady progress.
Got a funny feeling. For the first one atleast, Harris was on him.
And he had a third shot on goal in the last which he missed when he was also lined up on Harris.
The yellow team scored a few more goals in the last term.
