This is a direct quote from a discussion with the clubs media department.

There are also a lot of restrictions to work within from our football department, as a lot of what they do is confidential, so it becomes a big balancing act between what they will allow us to do and what people actually want to see.
Happy to have a Football Department that sets boundaries for marketing!

From the contracts I've read (generic) of professional team sports AFL, NRL, and Netball the collective bargaining agreement within the contracts has a big bearing on 'public' appearances, social media etc. While many players go above and beyond when I was working with Corporates wanting player appearances and so on, we more often than not were told certain players had reached their quota and/or we would not be told who would turn up to prevent individuals being advertised within the ' team appearance' when 'Team' meant only 4 players. I'd have a guess, given some of what I've seen when something is 'open to the public' it might be being counted in an annual season tally. Just a guess it's been a few years now since I did that work.

Someone told me heard there'll be some training at Zillmere which has all new turf. No idea when though

From my discussions, it wasn’t to do with marketing at all.

But rather not putting anything on social media that rival clubs could see, and potentially use.

So we’re not going to see specific game simulation, training drills, skill sessions, warm up activities, etc.

So lots of videos of players running laps, still photos, videos of players laughing and taking “trick” shots, etc.

Back to last Friday’s practice match.

Does anyone know how many of our U18 academy kids played as top ups, who they were, and the positions they play?

Shatna Cashen-Harris played forward, Toby Triffett played in the backline, Crozier as a mid/winger. There were a couple of others but I don't know who they were.

Agreed Briz, thats another layer also, not giving away secrets. Then I suppose any strategy coach from another team would just read on here the analysis provided at times on who is playing where. I suspect our best secrets are all in Fagan's head and how he gets on with players and, in our medical room on how we get injured players back having a career. The word destination gets thrown around, I suspect that actually means - culture, support, relationship with coach, player management, player health care. Pretty much things a photo cant explain but certainly an interview that shouldn't be given.

Would be nice to get something from Mark Stone since arriving at the Club.
A couple of radio interviews externally but nothing from the club at all since he has arrived.

About time
It needed new turf when i played for WZ in the 1970's. But you always loved playing on your home ground
I think Mayne was the only ground in those days that could be described as a good surface. Nice turf but also softish underneath.
All grounds had reasonable grass coverings but mostly hard underneath

So someone just posted on the pies board that there are 87 indigenous players across the league.

Last year we had six, now we have eight.
Ah Chee, Cockatoo, K. Coleman, B. Coleman, Cameron, Ellis-Yoleman is a very capable group too. I don't mean to be anything other than well meaning when I say this, but Mitch Robinson is also a credit in his work with the club and its RAP.

Out of curiosity, how many indigenous lads do the Pies have...not that it should ever be treated as a competition?

One bloke who should take a lot of credit in indigenous pathways into the AFL, not footy itself, is Kevin Sheedy who does and continues to do a mountain of work up in NT and the Tiwis.

None, though they did bid on Blake Coleman before we swooped.

They’ve had 15 in their entire history, and none in the first 100 years even though Collingwood was an area with a high aboriginal population.

Re Mitch his genuine egalitarian nature is part of why I really admire the guy. He has friends from all walks of life and defends his friends and team mates no matter what.

Maybe he should apply for a position at the pies. They’d most certainly learn a lot about loyalty from hm.
