Damn it. I've had Lipinski for the past 5-6 weeks. Now everyone will have him.
There's a possibility that both Lipinski and Caldwell could end up as keepers.
To be honest, Lipinksi was always high on my radar and i only didnt have him in because i was going with heaps of mid guns. Now that my appraoch has changed, he was the first to come into my team. I didnt pick him based on the game against Hawks. Yes, it can be annoying when a POD suddenly becomes popular but on the flipside it shows you had good judgement. If you can use that judgement to stay one step ahead of the masses then that is great.

As for whether they will be keepers, i think Lipinski will be very close but Caldwell will probably be a stepping stone. Either way, i think they both represent significant value.

I know you’ve been big on Caldwell for the whole preseason, but did he actually have a midfield role ? I didn’t watch their game but his CBA were low from what I can gather.

Lipinksi I think was on a lot of people radar, more so now after the practice game. I’m hoping to get the majority of games in this weekend to have a decent look at everyone

I'm confident that he will get midfield time.

Heeney or Butters ??????
With Papley sidelined with a hammy 4-6 weeks I'm worried that Heeney will still spend a bit of time forward so its Butters for mine

That does make sense although Papley's hammy may only keep him out for 4.
I'm still not 100% on Heeney's role in the midfield. Mills and Parker will be the two mainstays with Kenneddy playing a lesser role. I do believe howver that they will be wanting to fast track the midfield roles of Rowbottom, Warner and Gulden. I still see Heeney being more value to the side as a roaming forward.

Heeney or Butters ??????
Feels like I’ve been burnt by Heeney nearly every year, and here I am again thinking something is about to change. I will say that he appears undervalued even if he plays that forward/midfield role, historically he’s a 90point average as you’d know.

Butters is on the up, just needs a decent run, I do have queries of his ability to play a full season however. Port are the biggest bullies in the league, when they’re on, Butters will have some huge fantasy scores.

I’d really couldn’t give you a definitive answer to your question, it’s a toss of the coin question. Both priced the same and everything points to a similar average.

I’m really torn on my forwardline setup, basically I have Dunkley, Treloar and Cogs locked in. It then comes down to Any 3 of Dusty, Thomas, Weller, Heeneyand Butters. It just doesn’t sit right with me though, I may look to down grade one, and bring Taranto In. Adds flexibility to upgrading Atleast.

Taranto's maxed out though. Upgrade target I'd have thought.

My starting forward line has changed quite a bit recently.
Duncan, Dunkley and Coniglio have been the constants but the remaining three places keep changing.
I did have Treloar but needed to downgrade him to a Butters/Heeney in order to gain the extra cash to bring in Raynor. Someone playing midfield at his price is hard to say no to. The last spot has gone to Brodie for the same reason as Raynor.

No doubt he is maxed, but at some point you pay need to pay up. I’d take Duncan if he were to play this week as there is some meat on the bone still.

I'd wait and see on Taranto. Word from the coach of him playing forward doesn't fill me with confidence. If he knocks it out the park, he's still not going to be any more expensive.

I’m concerned with the potential scoring and cash generation from both D6-8 and F6-8. What is everyone realistic expeditions of these positions. Currently no rookies there fill me with any real confidence.

For that reason im batting deep in both my backline and forwardline. Milera is D6 and ill probably keep him there even if he is to miss round 1 as i reckon he is great value. Rayner is my cheapest forward on the park. Ive ended up going with a real mid-priced madness strategy as a result of seeing the value in heaps of mid-priced midfielders and forwards.

I actually think the extra trades favour a MPM strategy more than guns n rookies. The more players you pick who are undervalued and will increase in $, the more options you have to use the extra trades and trade boosts. Trades are no longer worth quite as much as they once were which means trading earlier and more aggressively is favoured. I reckon you can trade mid-pricers who havent maxxed out earlier than you can trade rookies so effectively you can be more aggressive but i digress..

Looking at my current team and i only have 1 rookie starting (Daicos) and yet i feel like i have 10 guaranteed keepers and 5-7 who could become keepers, some of which im pretty confident that they will (Coniglio/Sicily/Serong types). That leaves about 4-6 who will be stepping stones or downgraded to decent rookies after 2 rounds. Im happy with that.

Not a particularly enlightening first 'official' practice match tonight. Oliver and Gawn are locked already, and there's a lack of any rookie insight.

True. If Boyd and Durdin play well for the Blues they might start the season in the seniors but i doubt they will be high scorers anyway. Durdin probably has better job security so is the better long term option.

Yeah dwarf pressure forward screams Jimmy Rowe to me. He served a purpose kind of last year, but you were always likely to get 30s and 40s.

I've also changed my forward line structure.
After deciding who to take out of Butters and Heeney, I've now decided to go with neither of them.
My F4-F6 will be Cogniglio, Raynor and Brodie. The latter two are basically priced as expensive rookies.
That's given me the extra cash to put Day in as my D6.

I'd hold off putting Day as D6 just yet

Ah Cripps, you’ve done it again
Anyone else going to get sucked into starting him? Of course he goes 140 tonight while guys like Steele and Titch have been pretty quiet in preseason. I know I should just stay strong but I have a feeling I’m going to blow my team up and start a bunch of underpriced guys. Cripps, Cerra, Lipinski, Rowell….
