Considering we'll be trying to squeeze in all of Sicily, Day, Jiath, Impey and Scrimshaw as intercept/rebound defenders, I wouldn't be surprised if Sicily's scoring was impacted. That gap between Sicily and Day could end up quite narrow and I'm certainly considering the latter, allowing a saving of $100k.
The practice games and Hawthorns intra-clubs could be telling when we see where everybody lines up.
With the amount of ball that will be coming down that end, six rebound defenders is not overkill.
Interesting how prominent that prediction appears to be on Bigfooty. The Hawks lost no players of note, had one of the better draft hauls and regain Sicily and Gunston. After a 7 win 2 draw season that avoided a bottom 4 finish.
Expect a finish between 9th and 13th.
Does Mitchell want to finish 9th though? Seems a perfect opportunity to bottom out and get games into their kids. Hit the next two drafts hard and go from there.Interesting how prominent that prediction appears to be on Bigfooty. There were a lot of reports of their senior players being shopped around, so they could well have decided on that approach.
It's not wasting a year though to bottom out. You need a core of high draft picks to win flags, Mitchell will know that. Everyone has the rose-tinted specs on at this time of the year though, so I get the optimism. He's a bit too competitive for his own good old Sammy. It may be beneficial in the long run for a bottom out season, but I don't see him wasting a year if he has a full, fit squad to pick from.
Keeping in mind that we already unearthed a bunch of long term prospects in 2021. Might be further ahead in the rebuild than outside perception suggests.
As for SC, Sicily apparently looked impeccable in recent match simulation. Also consistently up the front in a sprint session too from reports. Looks primed. Hardwick, Impey or Scrimshaw likely to become SC irrelevant if Siss returns to his best.
Never left my sideNo. 6 draft pick Josh Rachele looks on track for a Round 1 spot with the exciting forward in the stronger blue team during the simulation.
Wayne Milera was also on the blue team and moved well, while gun recruit from Sydney Jordan Dawson was deployed in and around the ball.
Doedee said he expected Dawson to be either on ball or on the wing, saying there was little chance he would join him in defence.
Rachelle won't be a high possession getter .....no goals = poor SC scoreNever left my side

It's a No for my side

Speaking of serious SC stuff, this being the defenders thread, maybe the comments on mid/fwd dpp Rachel should be removed or repositioned...This is serious stuff SC .....my team takes priority over my Crows Loyalty
I just thought in the context of the article ....the Rachelle comment was almost a throw away line ...versus the more relevant commentary on Milera and DawsonSpeaking of serious SC stuff, this being the defenders thread, maybe the comments on mid/fwd dpp Rachel should be removed or repositioned...
Milera DawsonI just thought in the context of the article ....the Rachelle comment was almost a throw away line ...versus the more relevant commentary on Milera and Dawson
Simply said, Rachelle played in the stronger Blue side in a Sim .... hardly earth shattering at this time of the PS
Anyone considering Alex Witherden ? ......23 YO ...$471K
Surely now that Hurn is wheeled out onto the ground .....Witherden must be due for a consistent run of games

I'll mark you down as undecided .....fence sitterAt that price, it's hard to understand how anyone could contemplate risking a bloke who isn't necessarily best 22. Sheppard has retired - but still - he's 471k ffs. No

To be fair macdonald got injured for majority of the year and lost his backline spot. His true position is still in contention now.Just having a quick look at players who changed to/from backline last year.
Laird 105 > 116
Mills 101 > 112
McDonald 95 > 68
Heppell 94 > 97
Hind 61 > 93
Impey 74 > 90
Hall 73 > 105
Ziebell 90 > 107
Dale 55 > 95
For players like Ziebell, Impey and Heppell who were injured I’ve gone their last fullish season.
I don’t think it’s as simple as someone going into the midfield means more points these days. Personally I’ll be looking more for the next Dale/Hall who is being sent to half back. If you can nail that pick it’s a massive headstart. Guess looking at those stats you could make a case either way.
Any word on whats happening with Hunter Clark. Is he injured? ..l'm hearing that he might get some mid-field time this season..
