What are our thoughts on Grundy? If we have Preuss sitting on the bench..........

The easy decision is to downgrade Grundy to a rookie, bank 600k, play Preuss then have enough to upgrade Rachelle, JHF or Martin in the coming weeks. Touk Miller and Ollie Wines will be great options to bring in very shortly.

Unfortunately, things are not as simple as that. Flynn played pretty well on the weekend and is a fair chance to play 2nd ruck. Grundy has a hapless Essendon on Anzac Day in which he could potentially dominate.

Setting up for this with 183k in the bank

Cripps bench to field (hopefully)
Pushes Brodie mid to fwd (MacD utility to mid bench)
Pushes Rachele to F7
Rach > Hayes via Dixon to F7
Bowey > Smith via Daicos to D6

Brings me to

Short Whit Hew Sic Chap Daicos (Stein SDK)
Steele Touk Bray Smith Cripps Crouch JHF NOD (Ward, Mac)
Grundy Preuss (Hayes)
Dunks Cogs Butters Brodie Xerri Martin (Dixon Baldwin)

Can’t do anything about Baldwin, he’s Cavarra 2.0 at the moment
Lighting a candle for Grundy and praying
Still rolling with this amazingly when there was 7 games played between then and now to knock it off course.

Crouch gets another week on account of Sloane being out. Surely his tog comes up now. If not Ward > hopefully Clark and Crouch > Macrae is on the cards next week.

A lot of people talking about trading Grundy. I totally get it, I’m just surprised people don’t have more pressing stuff to do. The fix-up weeks are behind us and we’re into the weeks where we should be racing to get rookies off the ground (although I will concede he’s scoring like one).

Think I’ll give him another week back at the MCG against an easier opponent and keep focusing on getting rookies up to premos.
Yeh my rage has subsided enough for me to say I'll be keeping him.

At some point he's going to be the ruckpig we know and love again.... surely.

So may aswell just keep him.

Realistically is Hobbs too expensive?

He'll probably be 300k.

Assuming he actually gets a string of 5-6games (which is hard to be confident on) he'll make maybe 150-200k max.

He could be a reasonable temporary fieldable rookie though.

My thinking is this - if I swap him for Rachele - I might pickup 160K - and he's likely to score a similar amount. My options in the mids are Hollands (loophole but getting closer), Windhager (questionable JS and scoring). So I'm not risking points in a straight swap - but I pickup 160K - which lets me turn Answerth into a 850K mid.

And yes, he's likely to max out at the 450 - 500K mark. But hopefully by then, I'll be trading him down to a rookie and upgrading elsewhere.

Unless someone better and/or cheaper pops up - its worth thinking about.

Now - this may be a completely rubbish plan and explain why I finish 860 millionth each year......

Depends. Did Clark do enough in the WAFL?

Think it'll all depend on your setup and trade plans. I don't have a spot for him on field plus the extra 100k spend doesn't allow me to get up to Smith. If you have Ward on field and still enough coin for the desired upgrade with the other trade he might be worth it.

Probably an irrelevant question after how the Eagles performed on the weekend.

He's straight in, surely.

He did do well. 18 disposals, 9 tackles.
A wafl tonne if not for 4x FA.
Surely not in ahead of XON?

Can't see Simpson dropping Yeo, Telly or Shuey as they'll be better for the run

I got him in for Rowell yesterday, so made some coin there. (And onfield points)
Still a decent swap for Ward or McDonald IF they put up another crap score as it nearly ends their cash gen. Same too Rachele.

There will be some $190k options real soon though.
Clark might still be a week or two (who knows with our changes)
Stephens banging the door down, Hollands likewise.

Nah XON over clark this week for sure.
We've always had that first in first serve mentality with team selection and xons paid his dues and had the better game at WAFL level.

But I would think we could find enough heads to roll / covid outs/ injuries to squeeze clark in too. Time will tell.

no upgrades this week

Will target Hobbs and rosas

Both look like good scorers
Durdin and McCartin have done their jobs

Would like to bring in a Hayes too but can wait a week as he’ll still be at a gettable price under 270k

Building and getting the right rookies is my strategy this year over settling for value premos. I’m going to be a little more patient and get the best of the best

I haven't seen any of Rosas.... not sure about paying 260k+ for a forward rookie in a bad team.

Got $144k in the bank. Getting rid of McCartin is the main thing first. Second t
trade will help in potentially getting another good defender in which is what I’m focusing on. Got a few options in mind to jump in at D4/D5 meaning that NoD or Daicos will be at D6 which will significantly help my scoring up back.

Jack Sinclair and Tom Stewart are two of my major options. Sinclair looks very intriguing considering that he’s a POD, playing very well and will potentially get DPP.

Stewart I had in my side, but traded him out for another premo after he was ruled out with gastro which worked pretty well so would love to get him back in.

I’ll probably go Rachele > Hobbs and Rowell > Mills or similar. Crisp might be a decent cheaper option too to bolster the defence.

As much as I will curse Grundy for 18 weeks I’ll probably just keep him and you campaigners can put up with my sooking 🤣

So after having issues with 450 rucks last year, you are now compounding it by holding onto one all season....

Brave move !!

:p:p

Feels like I have 18 in my current 30. 🤣

Gawn, Grundy, Preuss, Xerri, Dixon, Dunkley. Has Leon played Coniglio there yet?

I have Sam Hayes too haha
