I'm hoping to grab English as a forward soon and then if I ever need to palm off Preuss I can easily do it. Definitely a good alternative if Gawn is going to fu** up plans.

Any update on when English is back so I can forward plan for him lol.
He was 1-2weeks on dogs website last week.
Given its a Friday game I'd wager he's a chance next week rather than this week.

This is why I never believe in the term “must have” Cripps is a great option, but not must have. The guy who came 2nd last year never had Steele all year who was the best midfielder. You can still do well without having a certain player
Especially for mids I think. Don't think any one player will make a difference as long as you end with the 8 premos. Probably applies to def/fwds as well. Rucks is a little tricker although Preuss doing an excellent job and no second ruck has really presented outside English.

I completely forgot I could get another premo mid in this week as my second trade through DPP. Moving SDK to forward in place of Rachele and moving NoD back to D6.

So do I go for a forward or mid is going to be the question.

If I go with a forward, it will basically complete the line.

If I go mid, it gets the rookies on field in the mids down to two. (JHF and Callaghan)

Good as don't want him this week haha. Gotta work out if I can afford Brodie > English next week when I may start with $0 bank

I think Gawn is a must. He's got a BE of 84, if he smashes out another 130 before playing WC next week he will be unattainable soon.

This is how I expect to watch that game next week

$425k after I traded out J Hayes for M Rioli as my first trade.

Basically can go for any mid from Laird downwards after Rachele is put in the trade manager.

Forwards is essentially either Parker or Moore then daylight in terms of decent options

Probably go the mid. Just pick one that suits your byes

Out of curiosity, how much cash do we have on our benches right now (amount of money above 190K to use on upgrades moving forward)?

For mine, I currently have 987K, which should hopefully go above 1.1 MIL this coming week - which should be enough to upgrade Brodie, C. Curnow, Duncan, N. Daicos and MAYBE N. Martin to Rolling 22 premos(but he could seriously be F6 the way the forwards are going this season).

Looks like cash gen is just immense this year, so it'll be about nailing those uniques coming out of the byes (which I have completely failed at this year thus far) - in order to have the best shot of moving up the ranks later in the year.

If I stick with JHF > Neale, Daicos > Zorko I'll have $925k I think with 2 rooks on field Clark & Martin. Mid pricers of Bowey, Rowell, Brodie, Rozee and Preuss. Next week I'll try cull one bench to get Brodie up to English if he's back. If he's not might do a double cull.

987k
Not much more out of Stein Reef Durdin
Hopefully plenty more out of NOD and Hayes.
Clark already on field.

Gah. Looks like I'm gonna have to pass on Crippa again as JHF and Rachele don't get me enough cash and I don't want to go too early on other rooks (that option would be Rachelle/Brodie out for Cripps/Carroll). The frustration is only eased by his R12 bye not working for my team.
Early trades currently revolving around Rach/JHF out for - Zorko/Carroll (to boost backline), Anderson/Hamilton (midfield) or Parker/Carroll (fwd).
Will look at more exciting trades (i.e. big boy midfielder) next week...
I think you can go Brodie over JHF if it gets you the player you want. All of JHF, Brodie and Daicos are on the block for me. I'd trade all of them this week if we had a boost trade like Supercoach.

If I go with those trades, I will have 979K available on the bench for upgrades.

The problem is that realising the full amount is difficult, if not impossible. There are very few 190K rookies that are likely to debut who would be automatic picks (such as Clark last week, who I wasn't able to get due to Grundy and Xerri out). The only ones I have marked as favourites:

Maybe Hollands, Tsitas, Stephens or Dean would be ones that I would bring in on my bench without waiting a week to see how they go.

You then need to be in a position where you have no other pressing matters to deal with on their debut week (see English, Grundy, Xerri, etc), which means we all pretty much end up with a Cavarra or two that just sit there doing nothing for the season.

I hope this season is better, but then I say that every year...

Comben is probably the only other I'd add to your list due to his DPP and can sub him in at R3 when we downgrade Hayes.

Mine is garbage, I only have $865k on my bench - with the only players with any usuable cash right now being Hayes 408k, Dixon, 353k and maybe Mead $306 and Durdin $323k at a stretch.

The week that I needed to trade Will Day down to a defensive rookie to grab Mills cooked me. Traded in Jake Stein who has basically (along with SDK) blocked my cash gen in defence. Luckily i traded Mills in with the other trade so it was still a good trade overall but has limited my cash gen for sure.

Round 12 is the week to clear up your bench, can trade three non-playing rookies to cash cows that fix your bye structure and bank even small amounts of cash (100k each) to use as upgrades throughout the back two byes. I am expecting to move on Hayes and maybe Durdin ahead of the Byes, but will use Round 12 to trade Stein, Mead and Baldwin (as an example), hopefully that will net me at least 300k and re-start the cash gen for the back half of the season.

I completely forgot I could get another premo mid in this week as my second trade through DPP. Moving SDK to forward in place of Rachele and moving NoD back to D6.

I try and target the area with my most rookies on field (so in your case the Mids). I do this for a couple of reasons. First, rookies are at most risk of being dropped or rested so you're at risk if you've got two or three in one line as you might not have the cover to replace them. Sprinkling your rookies around makes it easier to cover. Second, I don't like absolutely locking in a line this early. My backline has Daicos at D6 but otherwise is full of premiums, until I trade Daicos, I can't access Docherty or any defender that becomes value. If i didn't have Daicos and already had someone like Sinclair there, i'd not be able to grab Doch without trading a premium (which I don't do) or waiting for an injury. I like to delay locking in a line as long as possible so that, if a great buy presents itself, for example Mills a couple of weeks ago, Crisp last week or Parker this week, you can jump on them rather than having to get another guy in a different line who isn't the same value.

For that reason i'd go the Mid.

After saying i was going to double down this week, i just can't do it.

Jack Carrol gets another week to strut his stuff. I might lose 30k on him, but with 238k already in the bank I don't see it as hurting me too much on my preferred upgrade next week (Daicos to an Uber like Brayshaw). If i got J. Hayes ot Carool I will have 380k minimum which, on top of Daicos' head is anyone in the competition barring disaster.

I think you can go Brodie over JHF if it gets you the player you want. All of JHF, Brodie and Daicos are on the block for me. I'd trade all of them this week if we had a boost trade like Supercoach.
Yeah, it's an option. Cripps is still great value for money.
