Way too early to call

Busslinger and Jefferson are key position players who haven't played yet, can't rule them out yet

too early to make those calls.
I know the Giants are still very bullish on Rowsten.
For point of comparison after 2 seasons Dylan Moore has yet to play a game and was about to be rookie listed. There are plenty of others, he was just one that came to mind
Some of these guys could go on to have very decent careers.

Dylan Moore was also pick 67, not a first rounder.

You get picked in the draft, for two things. Talent and impact. The talent is key but if you’re unlikely to make impact early you usually drop in the draft, hence why if you’re a higher pick, they play earlier and they tend to impact more.

I get that, my point was that we shouldn't be writing off blokes because they haven't set the world on fire in the first 2 seasons.

I reckon smalls sadly will start to get written off after 2-3 years, key position probably get 4 years and then ruckman 5 years. Either way probably another year or 2 before the balance between potential and performance starts to tip on assessing these guys

Ashcroft the #1 now for sure. A little over 1 year in the game thanks to an ACL, and now the youngest ever AFL NS winner.
Shezeel just made the AA squad and stiff not to make the team. Ashcroft is in the chasing group - that’s the only thing for sure.

Pretty clearly Sheezel has had two better years - not just by the fact he has played the full years but he has played them both to an incredible standard. So its definitely a reason to say he is the best player so far.

Ashcroft has shown his he is building into something incredible as well - total shame he lost the year but doesnt look like it will hold him back. His best few games in finals is right up there in what you can expect from a player.

At this point potential is probably still outweighing performance in how you assess kids from this draft and I dont think anyone would be upset with either of these two.

This is very fair and I think Sheezel is very very good.

Our best player so far in this draft is Josh Draper, a rookie selection. Already a 22under22 team member at just 20, he looks a future gun and should have a long career as a key position player.

Champion Data has Sheezel as the second highest rated teenager ever behind Bontempelli only, so there's that...

He was also a top 10 player in the comp for the remainder of the season pretty much as soon as he moved fwd/mid.

Yeah as I said he's awesome. Great player. I'd love to have him on my team.

Yes, he's a gun that had a great game. All be it probably on the fortunate side to win it vs Neale.

Im sure he's going to give Harry a run for his money in the coming years in this thread.

It doesn't make Bobby Hill better than Izak Rankine or Zak Butters as a comparison however.
