AND Graham last week, 14

I think I've had 9 rucks this year.

But given I'm currently rocking English/Preuss (Teakle), I'll need to add two names to the list this week in order to avoid a donut.

I'm still leaning towards Hodor and Jackson. Darcy just on a hunch and that glorious, massive ceiling. Jackson cos he's what I can afford now, and will upgrade him back to Max later or keep him as my roving F/R cover. I do have plenty of trades to adjust further if necessary, though I'd sure rather not.

Very interesting article.

Bevo with Dunkley ahead of the curve

Will be interesting to see how Port go against one of the best tap rucks in Witts if they decide to go small again.

They lost to the Tigers who played 2 rucks. Then they beat Sydney who also had no ruck. Ladhams doesn't count.

Preuss to Action Jackson.
Can't stand seeing that pr#ck in my team, even if he decides to return next week.
Jackson can sit in my team until Gawn plays a game or two and then comes in for finals action.
Have enough trades in the bank.
Yeah, I reckon I’m going Butters to Jackson.
Saves me a donut in the rucks and English can sit on my fwd bench for now.
Turn Jackson into Darcy or Gawn down the line.
Ive got 10 trades left and one more upgrade (Stewart), if I keep Zorko.

Literally the first clip of that article has Richmond get an easy tap to advantage that should have been a center clearance if Bolton didn't fumble. Showed the downside of having no ruck and yet because Bolton stuffed up it's used as a positive clip. Makes no sense.

Pretty much every clip shows a decent hit out and the mids not taking the advantage. I could find hundreds of clips of the mids taking the advantage to prove having a proper ruck is better.

It's like there is a reason teams have used a really tall guy in the ruck for a 100 years?

Kane Cornes asked on SEN Mornings: “What do you do when Grundy comes back? This is the elephant in the room at Collingwood.”

Buckley replied: “It is, and it will persist because right now the set-up is working really well and Collingwood are in good form, they’re in really strong form.

“They have a really strong midfield and they’ve got some dynamic scoring youth that’s coming through.

“(Mason) Cox has played better footy. Coxy’s a forward who is a perfect second ruck. So that’s his role.

Darcy Cameron’s the number one ruckman and Brodie Grundy’s the number ruckman. “If Brodie rucks for 85 per cent of game time and then he rests for the rest of it, that’s OK, then Darcy has to be a 70 per cent forward who rucks for 15 or less.

“But it’s not like Max Gawn and Luke Jackson for instance. Those two guys have both proven they can go forward, that they take marks, they impact as forwards, and they hit the scoreboard. Or they create spills for their ground level players.”

Buckley admits the “penny hasn’t dropped” for Grundy in terms of playing as a forward.

Darcy Cameron has done that a little bit,” he said.

“We have tried to play him (Grundy) as a forward … the penny hasn’t dropped yet.

“That doesn’t mean it can’t, but the penny hasn’t dropped yet.

“He’s probably more a free form, likes it through the midfield, creative possession getter than he is the structured, down the line sort of tall forward.

“It’s not as if it hasn’t been attempted, and that doesn’t mean it’s not going to work either because it takes time and things have to come together.

“But right now, Collingwood are looking in shape, in form, roles are established, Darcy Cameron is the number one ruckman and Mason Cox as the forward who pinch hits.

“If and when, and it will happen, Brodie is fit and ready to go, the decision that the coaching staff needs to make is going to be really interesting.”
