I think our midfield is still weak. Losing both Hoskings, Loynes and Dalton from our finals run 2 years ago has really hurt.I do follow the AFLW. Going to be interesting how they handle the league expansion. Hopefully we can jag the flag.
They really missed Sarah Hosking’s hustle last year.I think our midfield is still weak. Losing both Hoskings, Loynes and Dalton from our finals run 2 years ago has really hurt.
At least it's better than Rosanna.Africa by Toto isn't a song, it's an 80s abomination....
Yeah but Jeff Pocarro slays on that.At least it's better than Rosanna.
I can't recall a time in the last 20 years where our complete midfield are physical beasts.. looking like the Brisbane midfield circa 2000-2010
Walsh; check out my guns!
Cerra; I'll raise you a bicep!
Hewitt; These arms have tackled 10000 players
Cripps; My ceps are longer than yours
Curnow; Hold my beer
Cerra is ready to explode - regularly hit 25 disposals this season playing a mixture of inside/outside. I hope Vossy leaves him in the guts, and if he does, expecting close to 30 a gameIt's one thing to be physical beasts, but can they actually play? If we are being honest, outside of Walsh I wouldn't be putting much money on either of these guys to rip a game apart at the moment (unless Cripps can find the form he showed a couple years back)

Not only those two, but the compounding effect of bringing in all these players and the natural maturity of the group. All of them can "actually play". We don't need them to rip a game apart, we need them to contribute and play their roles.

In the last few years we've added Martin, McGov, Williams, Cerra and Hewett
We've got a very competitive team now.
With a new game plan and focus/ efforts (no more excuses from the players), we are final bounds for 2022
If these three can produce 7/10 seasons we'll finish inside the 8. We know what we'll get from McKay, Weitering, Cripps, Walsh, Saad - we need those three in particular to elevate their output. Fingers crossed for a full pre-season.Martin, McGov, Williams must apply themselves with determination and produce better form, they have been uninspiring also
Curnow Charlie can find some form too, our prospects would then be positive.
Was interesting when a group of players from a number of clubs had an informal training session. H was manning up on Ridley and looked to be monstering him. Massive difference in size.H looks absolutely ready to rip the comp apart
Cerra and Hewett are exactly what our midfield needed; some attacking class and defensive grunt.
But beyond their direct impact, I am hoping they are 'tipping point signings'.
As our midfield becomes deeper and better rounded, it will make our forwards look better. It will release some pressure on our defense, letting guys like Saad and Williams leverage their attacking flair. Which in turn helps the midfield and forwards. Guys like Martin and McGovern who were brought in to 'make a difference' will hopefully click. Someone like Ed won't need to do the heavy lifting. Someone like Dow doesn't need to be 'the midfield guy', he can focus on what he does best and better carve out his niche.
It's like when Richmond brought in Prestia and Nankervis. Those two are very good players, but their signings absolutely transformed the whole group (along with gamepland and mindset etc) well beyond their direct impact.
I don't think Cerra and Hewett are necessarily the 'final pieces' of the puzzle. But it's hard to be good in a bad team and at some point the team quality improves enough that almost everyone looks better (rising tide lifts all boats kinda thing).
Fingers ******* crossed that 2022 is the year it all starts to click..
