Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

This is how I imagine the conversation went...

Clarko: Hey, Curts! Mind if I call you Curts big fella?

Curtin: Hmm you know what I don't really thi-

Clarko: Curts, you're going to be a star down at North Melbourne. The boys are gonna love carolling with you.

Curtin: Carolling?

Clarko: Oh yeah! Shees, Wards, and some of the other young boys I'm still learning the names of, we'll all pile into the back of a CX-9 and take a trip up to Ascot Vale to do some door to door carolling. Content for the socials! It'll be a hit.

Curtin: Hmm, I don't kn-

Clarko: I'll be on my acoustic axe, but Curts, what are you a baritone or a tenor?

Curtin: I'm really not much of a singe-

Clarko: Nonsense Curts! This is how we're going to rebuild the culture. And you're a huge part of that. I see you as a 300 game shinboner legend. Why by the time you're done you're likely to have tens of wins!

Curtin: ...

Clarko: Think you can fix me up for the plane ticket to get out here to see you?
This is brilliant. After hard week I really needed the laugh 👏

If that's remotely possible then we absolutely need to get their first for our F1.
We may also go for O'Sullivan and Caddy. We would either have to trade with a club like Melbourne to get their first 2 picks or as you said trade for our F1. Why do I get the feeling if that was the case, we would have got a better deal or should have done it by now.

If my heart is broken I will rain down ‘disagree’ on all the posts of anyone who said the Wizard is locked.

I’ve already bought his kit! Actual footage below.

Could also mean because he's so damn short we either:

a) couldn't see him the first couple of times
b) couldn't hear him the first couple of times
c) we lost him during the interviews a couple of times
But seriously, if we take him we retain points we use for the McCabe bid as it isn’t considered a full first rounder.

It’s only fair.

The Di Mattia talk is interesting I really like him but figured we have similar players but if they think he’s great talent then interesting to see how that works. We can’t get him as things stand would either need the trade back dees deal to get their f1 and perhaps move pick 11 for another f1 from freo. Option 2 would be to trade our f1 for something like freos 2xf1 from port and pies to have the picks to trade back in.

I will admit that the addition of Ginnivan did not fill me with any confidence at all.

One of the things that favoured Jack at Collingwood was the abundance of talented forwards in the team meaning he never received any close attention.

I think adding Watson to our forward line is key to Ginnivan being able to perform a crucial role for us in the coming years.

Ash Johnson, Mcreery, Cox, Frampton, Mcstay are hardly super talents. I rate Elliott and Mihochek but even they are hardly superstars.

If you don’t really know (ie guessing) it is always wise to qualify your comments. The only pick that everyone can be confident about is that 1 will be Harley.
The situation is Fluid.
I will be a little deflated if we end up with Watson and Leake and parted with pick 4 and a future first.. feel we could do more with trading down and being open to acquiring future picks.. Curtin and Dees haul opens many doors and opportunities… GWS are owning the recent mock getting a future WCE first, WCE are a likely bottom two side next year still..they’re a lot smarter than most the giants.

If we are trading for picks we are doing for the specific purpose of picking up a player. That is what we will do. Pick that player(s)

So assuming Crows bid on McCabe with pick 10, you're happy to not use pick 11 to match (because club rates another player higher) who we then select with pick 11 that we received when we split pick 4? And then burn all the 40+ picks we worked hard to get in to match bids?

Madness.

According to DiMattias manager he is a real student of the game. Harry analyses how games are lost or won, set plays and game plans. I think this would appeal to Sam Mitchell.

Can people stop saying if we got 11 we would allow it to be eaten by a bid that would make us really stupid and our team are clearly not the suns.
If we did the dees trade for 6,11,f1 it’s likely to end up 4,f2(pies) I would think if done stand alone. Then we ontrade 11 in one of 2 scenarios the first I will do as a 3 way trade
A:
cats get 11,f1(dees), give 8,f3
Dees get 4,f2(pies),63 give 6,11,f1
Hawks get 6,8,f3(cats) give 4,f2(pies),63

B:
Dees get 4,f2(pies),63 give 6,11,f1
Freo get 11, give f1(port)
Hawks get 6,f1(port),f1(dees)

Both trades preserve our f1.
Trade A gets you 2 of osullivan /Curtin / caddy and adds the f3 we need if we also wanted to trade our f1 and go all out this draft.
Trade B gets us 1 of osullivan Curtin caddy but gives us 2 extra f1 picks, 1 to trade back in after McCabe and 1 to add to our f1 for a big fish.

If we are truly tapping out of the draft going forward let’s do in in style!

Why would we want O’Sullivan, Curtin and McCabe in one draft? Plus we have Ethan Phillips training with us as an SSP. Seems like a massive overkill on key backs. Then before you say Curtin could be a mid, why don’t we just draft a mid instead?

Who said we were? Osullivan has played forward and back and Also caddy is in there. I think you need to read my post again I didn’t advocate for taking all 3 I laid out the likely best options. Even if we did they will all take some years to come on in 3 years time we would have an amazing defence growing together.
That said with 6,8 I would probably take osullivan and caddy and get bruest and Gunston to fix his kicking. I also worry for caddy if he gets to the cats or dons what he ends up becoming…maybe we need to save him!
