It's hard enough trying to get 22 green dots now with all these dead rookies, I couldn't give 2 fux about the byes.

I knew you’d come around to my brilliant approach to the Bye rounds eventually 🤣

It's also hard to count rookies as players for bye rounds.

I'm trying to go off starters alone, as most likely the rooks I have now won't be there come round 15.

Round 15 the only problem at this stage- got a few Dogs, Norf, giants and Tiges - will keep in mind when trading. Hoping I can pinch Steele or Sinclair or both in the lead up which will help or even Mills if he starts looking juicy

At the moment, sitting at:

R12: 23 players
R13: 28 players
R14: 21 players
R15: 18 players

Looks fine on paper, but that doesn't include 3-4 dead (or seemingly so) rooks. They'll get sidewaysed during the byes though, will just keep upgrading for now.

After this weeks trades. Starting players only. Rookies not counted.

R12: 14 players.
R13: 18. No cats or suns.
R14: 16 players.
R15: 12 players.

Most likely will still be stuck with Roberts, Chesser, Johnson and Sturt. Potentially Cincotta and Mitchell will be around too. Otherwise, not expecting to rely on any of my current bench rookies for bye rounds.

Can't really afford anyone with a R15.
George Hewett is so tempting, with such a low breakeven too. I think the way around it is to only trade out other R15 bye players.

Example, I want to bring in Steele and Mills. However I have Sinclair, Stocker, Lloyd, Gulden, Ashcroft and Dunkley. 14 starters plus one rookie as it stands for that round. Trading out Setterfield for one of Mills or Steele takes that down to 13 starters for the Round 12 bye.

Good luck finding 5 rookies to make a starting team for the first bloody bye!! Let alone Round 15 where things are looking grim.

Hard to know what will happen. 1 reason I'm holding onto a few of my boosts. I do have a few handy R15 bye players like Buckley, Hopper and Sheezel who will be easy to upgrade to players who have already had their bye.

I didn't consider that to he honest. Ziebell, Sheezel and Hopper could be trade out targets if I am struggling to field 18.

I think Sheezel is good for a 95+ avg for the rest of the season. Hopper potentially too. I would want to keep those two. Ziebell might die out, so would be happy to trade him out.

I'm looking at my team thinking it will be fairly tight to get to full premo with trades left. Ideally you'd keep Sheezel and Hopper.

Last year I had it all planned out. Had plenty of players for the last bye but then copped a few injuries and had a couple rookies dropped. It ended up being my worst bye.

I want to avoid this again. Saying fudge it and throwing the paperwork into the air isn't going to achieve anything.

This is about the right time to have to consider byes when doing trade ins. I had a look, and Round 15 is grim enough, let alone already being behind the 8 ball for Round 12 if I trade in Steele and Mills.

I think that dip last year cost me a top 1k finish. Something that could have been either avoided or subdued. A mistake I don't want to make again.

Last year I didn't plan at all to around this time of year aswell.

I went from 22nd for the week in R13 with 19 players to 42k in R14 despite planning on have 22 players. Ended up scraping 18 and copping Teakles injury score.

Dropped from 300-600 overall. Might not seem much but I never made them back up and finished 500odd.

That 22nd in Round 13 where I was 68k is an eye opener. I got stuck around 3k where you shot up into the top 500 during the bye rounds.

I am hoping to sort of repeat what you did, and use the bye rounds to cement myself into the top 500. Just need to make top 1k by then (currently 1,994th)

Look I know that most new threads have a very limited shelf life on this board.

But I don't think this is being discussed in an organised way that folks can easily access.

It's easier this year, because there are four bye rounds and they're all Best 18.

I feel it's a real opportunity to try to get 22 onfield all four weeks and drop your four worst scores - that is my plan, anyway.

I think ideally you have 2 or 3 from Round 13, because they'll be easily covered that week, and they'll play every other bye round.

My current structure is 5 - 3 - 11 - 11.

Discuss (assuming the thread survives lol)
I feel the easiest bye round 13 is round 12 who would we basically have Dunkley Neale maybe Ashcroft Steele Sinclair

Just had my first look at the byes

Ive got:

Round 12 = 22 available
Round 13 = 29 available
Round 14 = 20 available
Round 15 = 19 available

Not too shabby
Now deduct the dead rookies ;)

Roberts, Madden & Wagner are my dead rooks assuming Johnson comes back. Having not considered the byes at all, im fairly happy at this stage, but plenty of time for carnage to occur and screw up all said plans!
