Tyson Sruk (has had a excellent first half & 3rd) The wizard might be carrying an injury but has been lazy off the ball. Archer May (70) is a dermot Brereton prodigy, (like Mclean) & is doing alright. Has some mongrel as well.

I dont know the exact rules but isnt it in 5 year blocks?

So potentially just hypothetical example
2021 - 95 (mainly because our team had a lot of young players inc high draft picks)
2022 - 95
2023 - 100
2024 - 105
2025 - 105

We would kinda be stuffed in the 5 year block if we didnt hit 105?

We would be forced to front load contracts but are left without an additional best 22 player thatd help us contend
I’m no expert, but I think it is minimum 95 in any one year and maximum of 105 in any one year, with a maximum average of 100 across the five years.

We could then conceivably have an average as low as 95 over the five years, though no team would want to do that - they would go with pulling payments forward or adding new players instead.

If someone is more expert, please do correct me!

You can over spend up to 105% as long as you under spent in one of the previous three years. If don't use the over spend after three seasons its gone.

So effectively:

2023: 95%
2024: 100%
2025: 100%
2026: 105% (last available year you can use the 2023 underspend)

Can be used at anytime so can be 2023: 95% followed by 2024: 105%

I hope we get a McDonald long term signing announcement during the off season.

Also with Grundy if the Dees want to save cap space would we negotiate to take their full 650k a year or whatever it is for a an even lower pick than 30? Or even them giving us a sweetener along with Grundy?
It's a live option to pay Grundy' salary and give Melbourne a later pick (40 odd) for Grundy.

The WAFL colts GF just finished.

Claremont narrowly beat Perth.

ZZ was clearly best on ground & just won the medal. Dominant in the ruck & was the 2nd highest possession getter on the ground.

I know he’s not yet on Twomey’s phantom drafts - but he absolutely has to be in the next one.

He’s only been playing AFL for 2 years, is nearly 2m tall, ran the 4th fastest 20m ahead of the draft combine & is emerging with a bullet.

Personally, I’d be happy if we took him with our 1st rounder. Could become a ruck or KPD - but either way, he’s a supreme talent.

Curtin was pretty good. Got lots of Sherrin and was strong at the contest.

Sam Van Rooyen was beaten by Perth’s Elijah Scoble (who could develop into a good KPD).

But overall - ZZ is my official draft crush.

Same here DQ! He'll play KPD rather than ruck when drafted.

Thanks for that.

Not that it matters for us, but I am not as enamoured with Reid as the entire fotty world seems to be.

Think he will be a good footballer but not a superstar of the comp.

Every year there is a "this is a generational player who will change any team he gets drafted to" and that almost never ends up happening. I mean the pick 1 players are always good, sometimes very good, but they are very very rarely the best player in their own draft.

Paywalled - but the hype has started.

If we want a tall in the draft, I’m convinced ZZ is our man.
