Papley has forgotten how to tackle and pressure I50 and Heeney can’t kick. Both are on a decent wedge. I would prefer what cash we have to splash go to champion midfielders, key forwards and backs and kids.

Heavy investments in a small and a medium forward who are in and out of the game just does not make a lot of sense.
Just do not see it. Hayward could only be by accident. Fails under pressure.

We have seen the peak of the guys I mentioned. Not saying get rid of all but one or two where a good deal can be struck.
Quality medium and small forwards are an instrumental part of every single premiership team to exist. Heeney and paps are arguably two of the best in the comp. Papley kicks fine, Heeney was a dead eye until the last 10 games.

Their peak is irrelevant. They are what they are and placed into a competitive grand final side they will win you the game. If you get rid of them you need a like for like replacements which is going to cost you the same. You end up at square one.

All that aside, you're not going to bolster our midfield by getting rid of one. When was the last time there was a player for player trade let alone one of the magnitude where it brings us a premier mid with an AA medium forward going the other way? Will never happen. The only time it makes sense is in a rebuild for picks.

Papley is an average set shot kick but a great snap.

Heeney has chronic yips.

of course quality medium and small forwards are vital. However overpaying for positions not integral to structure makes no sense.

How are they not premiership material? Heeney and paps are genuine guns who play a massive role in finishing off the midfields good work. Our midfield just havnt been good. Reduces their ability to impact massively. As we saw last year, in a well running machine they are AA material.

Problem is our fans look to these X factor players when we are down expecting them to do something special to get us out of a hole when it's not their job to do so, then whip them when they don't. It's a never ending circle and we don't learn from it because it's the same types of players copping the whip every single time. There's a reason why Chris Scott laughs everytime Rohan copped s**t about his stats, because y'all have no idea how those roles work. Do you guys seriously think there are players we can replace papley and Heeney with that are going to be as good as them when we are playing well, but also consistently pull something out of their backside when we aren't doing well? News flash, it doesn't exist. Atleast papley and Heeney have the ability to actually chop out in the middle unlike any other small forward in the comp.

If we can replenish our midfield to return to what it was last year and gain stability down back, getting rid of Heeney or papley will immediately take us out of premiership contention unless we find a like for like replacements. So in other words, there's no point even considering it.
Paply needs to pull his finger out , being a front runner and blaming others.

How many tackles the other night?

I would suggest that if Reid's body is remotely right (I know...) he'll absolutely get another year. He was in some career best form in the back half of last season and frankly, the club needs him to go around again.

I don't think he's automatically in the retirement category that a few are putting him in.

GWS still have access to Riverina region?

McKormack was said on commentary to be eligible for GWS academy
Here are the academy zones for NSW

And from Giants page they split it as follows: There are 10 Regional Centres of Excellence based in Broken Hill, Wentworth, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Deniliquin, Griffith, Western Sydney, Orange/Bathurst and the South Coast.

Jed Walter will end up at the Suns - what a player he’s going to be.

Harley Reid must be pretty damn good if he’s a guaranteed no.1 pick ahead of Walter.

The Allies are normally the easy beats of the U18 champs - they’re currently towelling up WA by nearly 100.

It’s just a shame all the guns are Suns and GWS academy kids.

And a few Tassie boys 😅

I'd trade Hayward in a heartbeat. Probably the only Swans player I'm actively keen to move on. Just think he's the perfect kind of trade option. Would be desirable to other clubs but unlikely to be more than a bottom six player for us.
I hate to admit he's probably our most bang for buck expendable asset. Seems to really enjoy playing for the club.

Would still be a real shame watching him tear it up getting service from a top-tier midfield.

Not sure If the papley rumours are true or not. If they are, I'd trade him first chance we get. The club has given him a 6 year deal on good money, after going through this all before 2 years ago. I can't be bothered putting up with the will he stay or will he go every couple of years with him. If he wants to go, piss him off. Only want players that want to be at the club.

Again not sure if true or not, but will be incredibly disappointing from him if so

Walter looks like a powerhouse. Getting charlie curnow vibes

Be great deep as a foil for King in the GC forward line.

Swans academy players looking to be picked up late second/third rounder type at best at the moment.

Really good Taasie products in Mckersher, Callinan and Sanders. Wouldn't mind Sanders at all

Watching the Allies / WA U18’s game - the Suns have about 5 Academy Guns this year.

They are going to need a LOT of draft points.

Plenty of clubs will be looking to trade with the Suns.
They already have 1 first rounder, 2 second rounders, 3 third rounders and 3 fourth rounders. They will also undoubtedly trade their first rounder for multiple later picks.

As it stands:

Walter top 5
Rogers and Read 15-20 odd

Great haul for them but will need to do a bit of manouevring or cop a deficit

Also queue more "kill the Academies calls"

Do me a favour and skip the reply if it's going to be sassy
Apologies for it seeming sassy as it was intended to be serious.

Your comment was about how certain players are perceived in footy, and I just meant that that doesn't mean anything, because how players are perceived doesn't ultimately matter much in regards to the career they end up having.

It sounds like complete nonsense to me that is being pushed by a few Carlton supporters because their team has no good small forwards.
